Refer to my post above dated today.    I don't have a clue what the "f" rating is about but I did a focus group last week with someone who still signs up for Fieldwork focus groups whenever they post on Craigslist.

You don't need to look up the BBB ratings if ANYONE contacts you about participating in research for PayPal, Western Union, or being a mystery shopper. NEVER sign up for it.  A legitimate research house only asks for general demographics and specific questions on the group's topic to see if you qualify.  You should always be paid in cash or a prepaid Visa card at the end of the focus group, and rarely, if ever, they will send you a check if it's over $200.  (I have yet to not be paid for groups I attended or surveys I completed online.)  You should NEVER be asked for your personal checking account number so money can be deposited to your account to try out the Western Union, PayPal, etc., for research you're doing.

Despite applying for numerous Craigslist focus group posts, I've never gotten a cold call for any focus group/online research I haven't applied for.  I do receive automated emails about applying for an upcoming group. Sometimes at the last minute to fill a vacant spot, I get a phone call from a recognizable research house I've worked with in the past who has me in their system, but I have to emphasize a "recognizable" business and one whose database I know I am in, by choice.

Only when doing a medical trial or a mock jury paying $350 and more, have I ever been asked for my SSN in filling out an IRS form to get a 1099 at the year's end for what I earned, but I've never been sent an actual 1099 because of it (it's just for office compliance; I have to stress I've never had my identity stolen because I filled out that IRS form.)

Rule of thumb:  If it's YOU who contacts your bank or credit card company and they ask for your SSN to confirm your identity, only then is it okay to give out your SSN or personal info; NEVER give it to someone who contacts you and wants that info for verification.

"Really? Paranoid?"  Yes and no.  "Hateful sociopaths at heart"?  A bit of an overreaction, don't ya think?

Fieldwork is a legit research company operating out of Chicago's (1) Mag Mile and (2) North Shore.  They ARE one of the two top-paying survey houses in the Chicagoland area.  Don't remember how I got the 773-282-0203 number to register with Fieldwork but I was already in their system, I thought, and buried the note until today. When I called this number it rang and rang and rang.  That would not happen if you called Fieldwork at one of their 2 locations in response to a call from them about a focus group you applied for.  This number online shows it's assigned to Fieldwork Quant (a legit group in the past) and is located in Chicago's Jefferson Park area, which is a really odd location.  Weird that anyone would get a cold call from a number that doesn't even have an employed call center person or business voicemail.  I may just try calling the legit locations to find out more about this 3rd  location that doesn't even answer their phone.

Really? Paranoid?

There is NEVER a reason to respond to a survey especially from a cold caller. The victims of these surveys have no idea where the information they provide goes, what it is really used for, and how it is (OR IS NOT) protected. Morons respond to surveys. Smart people know better.

Sounds like you depend on invading the privacy of other people for a "living". Sad, very sad, that you can't get a real job, and even sadder that you have to call your potential victims "morons" and "retarded" on a site like this where we are supposed to be helping each other to stay safe from scammers, including survey scammers.

You just proved what many of us already know, that professional privacy invaders like you are hateful sociopaths at heart -- hey that's one more reason to NOT ANSWER your "survey" -- like we needed yet another reason!

You are retarded. Its people like you who get everyone else paranoid. Its a marketing research company, not an identity theft company. Do some research before you start making retarded assumptions, you moron.

idk...I'm confused. I am registered with a legit research group- schlesinger, but I don't remember registering with these guys. It's the same thing where they left a message offering $150 for an online blog on candy...It just seems a little too good to be true, and the red flag to me is that I don't remember giving them my info. All of the surverys I do are in person, in dallas. And they have to ask me a million questions to see if I qualify first. Who does a blog on candy for $150? It's not specific enough to pay that much...I mean the surverys I do in dallas pay that much, but they aren't online blogs..idk...I haven't decided if I'm going to call back. If it's legit I'll let you know..

I don't think they're legit. They've been calling me for months now. First saying they're doing research on Bartenders and having a paid focus group. The name of the caller always stays the same, Seth, but the voices are different everytime. The amount of money changes too from $100-300. I'm pretty sure they're hired by collectors to gain information on you if you owe money

I love how all the 'different' people defending Fieldwork use exactly the same wording. Check the Better Business Bureau website-- how many 'legitimate businesses' have an F rating?

Fieldwork Chicago is a legitimate company that runs focus groups for all of the major American manufacturers. And yes, you all did register somewhere, somehow, or else they wouldn't be calling you - companies don't just call you for fun.

Fieldwork Chicago, with branches in several cities around the country. They really are a legitimate focus group company, I have completed several groups with them and been paid extraordinarily well for my time, in cash, at the end of the focus group. If you have never signed up with them, you might be registered as a mystery shopper with a sister company of theirs, or you might have given your information, including phone number through an online survey or registration for product info, all sources they use to find prospective attendees. Do a web search and check them out, well worth the $150 an hour I get from them.

I don't believe these guys are legit.  They keep calling and calling and calling and I refuse to pick up the phone or return their calls.

The second time I answered their call, and I did NOT sign up for them!, I realized I had given them information over the phone I would never normally give out.  The next time they called, they offered a $400 paid survey for more info, and that's when all the red lights started flashing.

I think they are collecting information for somebodies - and it isn't good.

Don't deal with them, don't give them any info.  They sound benign, but.....

A survey company? I finally get rid of the car warranty calls and this starts?
On the plus side, at least it's not a bill collector.

Survey
I have received several calls from this org - usually around 8:15 pm around the time my kids are going to bed.  Left several messages to request removal and I have not been removed from their directory.  My guess is that one of my banks used their number and once they have you in the system you get called for political polls, United Health Care survey, BofA or Wells survey.   I have been hung-up on twice when I was asking the interviewer questions.   How much info they have on anyone whose number they have is probably frightening

I also reported them to the National Do Not Call Registry!  Apparently, some companies  have nothing better to do than  bug people on Sunday mornings.....how rude!

I just received a call from this company while I was on another very important call.  Needless to say, I did not pick up their call.  They left a message on my phone, however, when I went to retrieve it, it was a hang up call with no message.

What a waste of my valuable time!

This number is for a market research group in Chicago called Fieldwork.  The calls are legit.  If they are calling you, at some point you must have registered for a focus group.
