It was from a Corporate cquisitions. IS this a legitimate phone number?

Wondering if it a scam?

Just got a call from this number, but it was a recorded message saying "we apologize for calling in error" or something like that, then said "Corporate Acquisitions" and read a telephone number that started with 312 (may have been the one mentioned in the previous post, but I didn't get it down exactly"

Just had our 2nd order wanting to use SkyAir.  This is the tip-off.  The guy this time was Jim Paul.  The first time this  happend it was supposed to be a lady in Japan with a Korean name.  I talked to Sky Air, The lady there says they do not ship overseas and mine was one of a few calls she had.   I then told the "Korean lady" my accountant would not let me accept CC payments for such a large amount of money.  She then  scolded me for being the president of the company and taking orders from my accountant.  I told her one of the reasons I got to be president was I could spot scammers like her.

Does anyone know how they are scaming people? What is it that they want? How do you now it's a scam?

I also got a recorded call after hours on my business phone. Same bull about people interested in buying a business like ours.   I immediately called back and got an answerring service with list of extensions for a half doen names including barry.   Barry's message says if interested in selling leave name & best contact number otherwise thanks for calling back.

We got one too on our private line. By the way, the area code IS 206 not 204. Interestingly enough, I run a private equity fund headquartered here in San Diego, so I buy/invest in companies for a living and have been doing so for 30+ years. So I called and left him a message to that effect.
Not sure what the "scam" is, if any, but I can't wait for him to call me back. Thanks.

i got a call unasked for from barry adams on april 6th 2009, from corporate aquisitions offering to buy my business, he gave number 204-494-0093 ext704 ,my business is not for sale

Got a message from Barry Adams, but now using the number 206.494.0093 extension 704.

Just received Voicemail from Barry Adams (206-494-6093) X704. He said he was interested in purchasing our business. This guy is a scammer.

I am glad to have run across this site.  I did receive a call from Barry Adams from "Corporate Acquisitions" stating he had a buyer for my business.  NOT FOR SALE. Sorry Barry.

Received a call late last week from Barry Adams, from "Corporate Search" with the number 773-527-1338.  He left a message that he might have a company that would like to buy mine - I have more than one and he didn't specify - and asked that I call him at extension 704.  Glad to read of other contacts and impressions.  I'll let that go the way of the distressed Nigerian with money to give away.....

Barry Adams, Rick Webber, Ty Tymkovich(all of Corporate Acquisitions Group, LLC), and Marvin "Randy" Hicks(PBS + Alliance Acquisitions) are all part of the same scam system.

They offer clients a ?100 percent money back guarantee? that they will find qualified buyers for businesses. When clients tried to claim the refund, they deny the claims.  Sellers are required to pay a designated fee to the scammers for acting as an intermediary with buyers, a designated sum for hiring an independent firm to prepare a valuation of the business that was being sold, and a fee for successfully matching a seller and a buyer.  In order to deny the guaranteed refunds, they provide clients with sham matches. The buyers claim they are qualified but in reality have no interest in purchasing the clients? businesses.

Called my business phone late at night.  Barry Adams left the message which actually sounds like a recording itself.  Wanting to connect me with a buyer for my company.

Got a call on my answering machine from Barry last night at 7:30 PM from 773-527-1338 ... obviously the same scam is still going on with the same phone #... same person... It sounded like a recording to me...

Same pitch as the others. Claimed to have a 'match' for our Equine Products company left on machine and after hours. Must work days at McDonalds. Just goes to show,never dial w/o Googling these days.

Call left on general answering machine with details from barry adams 773-527-1338  x 704  - didn't appear to be a recorded call. says he buys companies and we have someone interested in our type of company. asked to return call to discuss. deleted message and began to research - didn't take long.

Yup...Barry Adams called here. My answering machine took it.  Same blah..blah...blah...."interested buyer in your business"....blah, blah, blah...blah...blah....  Name comes up on caller ID as "Name Unknown"

Got the call from 773-527-1338.  Got a recorded message saying that my number was dialed in error, then it hung up.  I re-dialed the number but got the "number does not exist" message.  HUMMMmmm.  Guess he is spoofing the phone number.  Did my caller ID blocking affect their program somehow?

Ditto to everyone.  Barry Adams at ex 704 called and has a buyer interested in my business.  He called my Las Vegas office ... if he knew me or my business he would be calling our main store and not a satellite.

We just received a call from Barry Adams using the number 773-527-1338.

Another Scammer: Tom Brown wanted to purchase items and sent via  skyairshipping@yahoo.com - to Taiwan.  No record and is listed on another scammer list.
