Called me and said he had two items of stolen property of mine. Said he'd call back when he found out how much it would cost to ship it back to me (said he was a truck driver and had already gone back out to the mid west). That was about 15 mins ago, have heard back from him yet. He did accurately describe the two items. Said some kids sold them to him.

This scumbag is still up to the same games and tried to take advantage of my daughter.  He supposedly found her lost item on Craigslist and was a truck driver and he and his wife "wanted to do the right thing".  He calls from 224-723-6331.  He has used other numbers in the past.  NEVER give up money until you can verify that he actually has your item and hands it over to an OfficeDepot employee to ship out.  Call the OfficeDepot location and speak to the manager to have them verify that he is actually there.  If you make him go through these steps, any "good" person doing the right thing would understand and take the appropriate steps.

The initial calls started out nice and each subsequent call got shorter and he got more upset the more hoops we asked him to jump through.  We never sent the money and waited for him to call back.  He was mad that we "made him to go OfficeDepot for nothing", when actually he was mad that we made him go to Walmart for nothing!!  There was no money at Walmart in the form of a moneygram waiting for him from us!  Thank God for "motherly instincts" and Google!  If you have been victim, please post it online to help prevent others from being victim.  Past posts helped us from being a victim.  THANK YOU!

I just want to say thak you to who first reported this number. I have had an attempted scam happen to me via craigslits before with rental property. I am so amazed scum like this pray on people who truly lost something sp important to them we are willing to pay to have it back in the first place. This reminds me of how sick some people are. What can we do as a group to bring more attention to these scams?

exact same thing to me just today. Said his name was Steve Palmer and a truck driver and headed east. I had reward offered on a local ad for a lost item. He said he didn't want the reward but wanted me to reimburse him the cost of shipping. Said he called UPS and was quoted 45 for overnight (yeah right). Asked me to wire it to Walmart, he requested an address to ship to, I told him if he had my item he had the address. He became defense and rude. Told me he was doing me a favor and wasn't gonna front the money to ship it. I suggested for him to drop it off at a UPS shipping store so they could box it and bill me for the freight, or he could give me a confirmed tracking number and I would get him the Walmart moneyorder. He then told me I was wasting his time and obviously didn't want my item back. Would call me later.

Do not waste your time and energy with this person or anyone like this. A TRUE good samaritan would never act this way

Same thing just happened to me.  Got my hopes up.  He is still in the process of "figuring out" how to get the rings to me.  Said he would talk to his wife because she doesn't want him to pay for shipping and said he would call me back.  He asked my for my shipping address so he could mail the rings I lost.  Good to know there is a website like this.  I looked up the number immediately and found it here.

Eric Lawson called me from 773 663-8098. Asked if I was the person who was missing a laptop and briefcase. Asked me to describe what was in it, I did and he replyed " yep this is it"  Said he'd call back when he found out how much it would cost to ship it back to me. Said he was a truck driver and was on the road in Illinois. Called back 10min later and indicated $41 ups, plus $250  the amount he bought the laptop for. He said he was on his way to UPS to send it and requested that I money gram $291 from Wallmart and answer the test question Favorite Drink? "Ice Tea". I agreed. Called him back to confirm spelling of his last name and to verify he was ligit, Asked him to describe something in my brief case that would be familur to me. He became very defensive and how dare I question his integrety and his willingness to do the right thing by seeking me out. He said foget it, and to just prove a point, he was going to send me just one item from my briefcase. Needless to say, I am not holding my breath.

I first got a call probably a week and a half or two weeks ago regarding a family ring I had lost. Those calls were from a restricted number. He said he had sold the ring to a friend of his but then found my ad in the paper (a paper in Virginia where I live). He said he would get in contact with his friend to see if he had it and call me back. When he called back he said to Western Union the money to his friend for the money he spent. The restricted number, location and western union all smelled funny to me so I asked for a picture of the ring, then he hung up and never called back again.

Yesterday I got a call from the number in question and he said he was the first guy's friend and had the ring. When I told him I'd need to see that the ring was in fact mine in order for me to send my stated reward, he said that he didn't want the reward, just the amount of money he bought it for. Then he got flustered and said he didn't feel comfortable talking to me about money (or something) and he'd call me back, haven't heard back from him since.

This guy is a fool and a scumbag.

I received a call from this number too...did he ask you to call back the next day to set up shipping?  He then told me he'd call back in an hour to set up a C.O.D shipping for my wedding ring, never asked for wired money or anything..I wish I could find out if this is a scam so I don't get my hopes up!
