Such a pain; rings approx. 2x a week...  No one there and then a hang-up

I have gotten a couple of hang up calls, but do not know who it is.

Called and left no message.

We received a call from this number today. A family member answered the phone and the caller asked for me. My family member asked if she could tell me who was calling and the nature of his call. The caller identified himself as Ramone from Merchants Credit and stated he was returning my call. I do not know who this company is or what they wanted, and I have never done business was any company called Merchants Credit. This sounds like some sort of collection company.When I got on the phone, the caller was gone.

Yes, In fact it is Merchants credit guide,  I just called the number,  my curiosity was killing me,  and I needed to hear it for myself. yes it is definately merchants credit.

Received this call today 10/31/08 and heard only silence and they hung up

Received a call from 773 668 1627 only to hear silence.  I am not sure but believe it could ba a collection agency.  Since my name is a common one.

Check & see if they put a lien on your property. We had the same call about a debt. The name was my wifes former married name 3 husbands back(~30 yrs ago). No way to carry a debt that far & then try to recoupe it. It has to be a lien scam. By listening to the scam after they say don;t, & then reponding, you've implied that person is a part of the house hold. If that person is also in the title the lien can be imposed. Some aspiring lawyer needs to gather class action against this outfit & burn them. It a scam of some kind. We didn't respond because that hasn't been her legal name in a decade.

The same company called me today. Another family member answered the phone. the person identified himself as Ramone from Merchants Credit Guide and claimed he was returning my call. When I picked up the phone he was gone. I never called this company or any one named Ramone. Claiming he was returning my call was just a trick he attempted to use.

Someone called and asked for me, I responded saying "this is Lee." She then  said that this was an attempt to collect $458.00 for her client. Her client was Head and Neck Specialists associated with Illinois Masonic. I asked for the doctor's name. She said it could not be disclosed because it was private. She then identified the last four digits on my social security. I told her I didn't know what she was talking about. She said she would "have the doctor contact me."

Called the number back. Got a recording that it is now the National Association of Police Athletic Leagues (NAPAL)looking for a contribution. They assure me that they will call back in a few days. Oh joy. In any case, it is likely a telemarketer's contact center. When this campaign is over, the number will be used for someone else.

866-347-0736 x3765: i received a call today (11/28/07 12:30 cst) from a Ms Thomas.  she said it was important that i call today.  they never tell me what they are calling for or whom they represent.

If you're getting a call from this number, it is most likely a medical collection bill.  I got a call from them, and it was for a co-pay from an ER visit to Edward Hospital in Naperville.

Please press such number if you are the person we are calling.

I got a call from 773-668-1627 and it was a recording asking if I was so-n-so if I was to press a number. I did then next thing I hear is another recording that tells me to wait for the next available operator. I didn't think twice when answering because I am waiting for the places where I am going to have test scheduled and they call with a recording similar to that but when you acknowledge you are that person they remind you of your appointment or to contact scheduleing. Who are these people with this number? I did a reverse lookup and this is all that I found Type: Land Line

Same issue here as you had, but different calling number.  The 'someone's name' was undecipherable to my ear. I also hung up and will ignore any previous call from this number.

Called today and left a message. said this message is for "someone's name" and if I was not that person I should hang up immediately. If I was "someone's name" I was to hang on the line for a 3 second pause. I waited a little longer then it said, by staying on this line you have indicated that you are "someone's name" and...  I didn't wait to hear it, I hung up, didn't know if it would connect me somewhere or not. I didn't want them calling back. I am not the name they seek

This is Merchant's Credit Guide, a debt collector specializing in very old and/or false debts. They left a different number today, 866-347-0736 which is answered and valid.

I got silence. When I called back is was busy.
