I got the same message but mine is from Toronto looking at my car on kijiji call from 817-890-2499 and email they send me was desireeharp@toronto mail.com on Mar 5/2013

if i deleted the pay pal account with all the bank details and credit card detail is that anough?

You need to contact the proper authorities & pay pal,   to resolve the issue.

I found out about that scam just now and I already gave them my Pay Pal datails.
what can i do now?!

They are no longer using the name 'Elizabeth Glower' they are now calling themselves Kevin hart. So glad I googled this though, selling a 2012 avenger on kijiji

Here is how the "PayPal Scam" works:

Says they will buy the item and will pay extra to cover charges by his shipping agent.
Says he will PayPal the funds and instruct you to send the extra money via wire transfer or pre-paid card to the agent.
He then sends you a fake PayPal deposit notice email, spoofing the official PayPal notice, that says the money has been put into your account.
You, thinking PayPal has your money, go ahead with the wire/prepaid transfer to the shipping agent, who is really the scammer.
After that, you then find out there was no money transferred to PayPal and are out the money your wired.


Here is how a "Craigslist Scam" or any other "I will send you a check for more than you asked" scam works:

He pays for the item + extra funds to cover his shipping agent costs with a bank draft or cashiers check.
He sends you a check, tells you to cash it and send the extra money to his shipping agent via wire transfer or prepaid card.
You cash/deposit check and wire/prepaid the funds to the agent.
Later, the check bounces as it was counterfeit. The money you sent to the agent, who is really the scammer, is unrecoverable due to it being wire transferred/prepaid card.
You are out money and now run the risk of being arrested for passing a counterfeit check.

I received a text message from phone number 435 879 7128 asking me to contact his mom at laura.maddisn@gmailcom. This was in reply to a Kijiji ad for a car for sale. I did write to her, and she replied with the story I have read below, about her being a marine biologist wanting to buy a car for her son who is going to Malaysia. I thought it sounded fishy (no pun intended) so I googled the information and found this post. Thank you everybody for the warning, is there a way to warn Kijiji about this?

I got the same message but mine is from Brooklyn Chan  and Ola Re, same blah blah blah story, but purchasing it for his parents who reside on Ontario..

I received the exact same message regarding a car I was selling on Kijiji except the contact person was Brooklyn Chan, "marine biologist".

k just was dealing with same person!! I reactivated my paypal as to almost go through with a  car sale through kijiji!!! she went by name of Peyton Kenn... number I received initial text was from 435-238-7239 with the exact story from a previous message on here!

I got a mail from a scammer that wanted to buy a computer from me
He was clear about two things Paypal and postage
So I did a fake receipt for the postage, using a old one and a Little Photoshop
Guess he is still sitting waiting for that computer today
Remember to by accident use the wrong postage when you fake, in that way they doesnt have any way to see if its a fake or not :-)

They actually go on to send us emails in the guise of Paypal.

This insistence to use Paypal is what started alarm bells. We actually were close to sending the money today until we checked this forum and actually called Paypal to confirm. I don't usually post online but you guys saved us a lot of money so I thought I'd return the favour in the hopes that no-one else will fall into this trap..
