Thank you for telling me it's Loyola University. I went to school there & they are probably getting an Alumni directory together. This happened a few years back too.

They probably just got the number wrong on their paperwork (or you have a new number that was formerly an LUC students). Don't freak out on them, they are just student volunteers. If the calls annoy you, answer and tell them their mistake. I got my MA there, but am still in the PhD program - they call me every 6 months or so (I always forget the number, hence my presence here). I inform them I'm still a broke student and they apologize and stop calling.

Thank you. I worked there also :)

I loved it there. And MOST of the people we call are pleasant and talk with us and ultimately donate to the university. So next time, just answer the phone if you can. We are students helping students.

Answer the call if you can. The reason we do not leave a message is that we use a computer to make the calls and the software will automatically click the caller on to the next call if it hears a voicemail, we don't have total control over that. We are trying to reach you and speak with you but often times we do not reach a prospect.

I used to work there and unfortunately we did have callers that didn't care and just wanted money so to pass the time they would hang up when someone picked up. This has gotten better.

To all those concerned, I can confirm this is the number for Loyola University Chicago's Phonathon. I am a recent graduate of the school and worked in that office for 4 years. If you try to call the number back it will say it is "unassigned" this is because we use an automated system. Call 777.508.8020 if you have any questions, that is the office number. If you do not wish to be called, please answer the call and tell the student worker. Otherwise we have no idea of your preferences. Since Loyola is a non-profit, it is except from certain do not call lists because it is not telemarketing. However, you can be placed on their Do Not Call list, just ask. Current students are the ones who are making the calls, please do not be rude.

I worked for Phonathon for 4 years, sir, it is not a scam. It is a group of students who work for the Annual Giving Phonathon and are raising money for the school to help with scholarships and much more.

This phone number is in fact from Loyola University Chicago and it is their fundraising phone line. They call alumni to raise money for various scholarships, university programs, yearly donations, etc. It's called the Phone-a-Thon. I used to work there while I was in college. They keep calling until you tell them to take them off their list because it's an automated system that just randomly chooses numbers for the callers, so they don't know that you've already been called multiple times.

Geez--one would think that with a Jesuit in the Vatican our alma mater wouldn't need to fleece us for donations...

Have been receiving calls from this number for donations to Loyola University.  Graduated from there 22 years ago, I am done paying my "dues" to that school.  Stop calling for donations because you will not receive any from me.

Got a call from them last night on my cell.  Called them back this morning from work and they answered the phone PLS Check Cashers.

Here's their website, plshome.com/.  I didn't gon it, but it's probably safe to assume that they're phishing for people to run a home based business.

I think I'll contact Loyola about this. I am an alum, and maybe it was a legit call, but I don't know.

I have been receiving calls every day twice a day from this number for months now. The amount of calls I receive from this number is truly ridiculous. I attended Loyola almost a decade ago for a Master's degree. From the level of phone calls, I will never ever donate any money to them in an alumni capacity. The amount and regularity of these phone calls borders on harassment.

I reported this to the FTC this morning.  Loyola telemarketers have been calling me for a few weeks but I was never home but could see this number on my caller ID.  Last night, I came home around 7pm and the phone was ringing ; by the time I got to the receiver, it had been ringing for more than 4 minutes.  I yelled at the student and told him never to call again. After hanging up , I noticed that the caller ID said that the call came in at 6:37 and it was now 7pm.  The phone had been ringing for over 15 minutes.  I will never give those idiots a penny of my money!

I am experiencing the same problem with this telephone number.  Finally the last two days I answered the phone.  The first night I was polite and told the lady that we have no one in our house affiliated with Loyola U.  Call the next night and I told the person in very certain tone of voice to stop calling that this number is on the no call list.  She said she could not do that and she was just doing her job and then asked for my wife by name.  She is calling my buisness phone not my house I would think this is a sham for people to give money to a phone crusade for Loyola that does not exist.  One more call and I will verify with Loyola that this a fraud and then report the activity to Lisa Madigans office.  My though is everyone should do the same.

This Chicago number pops up on my phone every evening, same time.  They never leave a message, so I know it's not a legitimate call... very annoying!  If it's Loyola University and they want donations, they should just say so.
