this was sent to me back in December on the 14th 2011

i'm with Verizon Wireless

My elderly father also received a Washington Mutual BKHTN Alert 162537 with request to call 773-782-6149 December 14th @ 8:14 am -- he doesn't know how to text, so I check his phone every so often to see what is going on and found this scam.  He has never had a Washington Mutual/Chase banking account, but does have a credit card with Chase.  Terrible that scamsters are trying to prey on people at any time of the year, much less the holidays.

oh wait, cancel that last post. that was another number that called my parents place... sry

they called my parents house looking for me....weird cuz none of my friends have that number..

I live in Washington and had an account with WAMU years ago.  I got the same message at 7:55am today 12/14/11   "WashingtonMutualB SSZR alert 255344 please call 7737826149" with callback # 9172624814  I did not call or text back.

Glad to hear the FTC is on this already!  Just adding my info in case it helps.

WOW.....FTC (Federal Trade Commission) actually took it down already!
(I just tried to call 7737826149 back (at 12:30)  and was getting a msg from FTC advice me it was a scam)
Since when did our government work so effectively?

Got a msg from 7737826149 on Dec 14 at 8:15 AM. that says
" WashingtonMutualB RNUV alert 286645 please call 773-7826149"

Of course, I did not call that number but I called my bank which is now CHASE.

Am on the phone with Chase now.  and verified with Chase that they did NOT send me that message. It is from someone else which might be a scam/fraudster.

DO NOT REPLY to that call. and if you did, have some "fun" with the operator by provide those scammers with fake info or something.   or pretend to be really dumb (make sure record it and put it on youtube.  haha)

I got the same text this a.m @7:58 and then again @8:33, the first time my gut said it was a scam, then the second time I called the number back and it was disconnected as you all have stated. I just hope it cannot in some way get info from us via our "super secure and private" cell phones...LOL. I too had a WAMU acct, years ago, & I live in WA State as well. Hopefully it was an attempt at a scam that went awry....; ) GOOD LUCK!

I just got a similar text message at 8:20 am, with a different alert code. I no longer live in Washington, but still have a 206 number. My WaMu account is long gone, as is my Chase account that it became.

I live in Washington State, there hasn't been a Washington Mutual here in years. It must be some type of scam.

Got a text from this number to call about a "Washington Mutual alert." Not likely. Said bank no longer exists. Don't know who it was and I'm not calling back. I'm simply adding it to my blocked number list.
