I just received a text (773) 893-0868 from this individual wanting to purchase a vehicle from me. He insisted that the transaction be through my PayPal account. He the requested my PayPal account password and physical address. I advised him that if he was serious about the transaction he could contact me at the number he had texted and he or his representative to meet me at my financial institution to complete the transaction.

my story is the same as the others. From recycler ad about SUV.

This guy apparently called my  mother about her car. She can't hear well and asked me to call him back. I was suspicious about the number and so glad I checked! That's a good way for this not so bright person to get shot!

Same guy, same routine as he tried with everyone else.  My question is ... what dose she have to gain??  Is he really dumb enough to think I would release my car without having the cash in hand or is he trying some nefarious scam and just wanted my paypal e-mail??  Any thoughts?

This guy texted me about a car I have for sale, says he's a trucker in Alabama right now. I had a bad feeling about him because he didn't try to negotiate the price or ask for pictures. Insisted PayPal is safe and secure. I am still in contact with him. Gonna screw with him. Thanks everybody

same guy texted me today about paypal and his shipper. No inspection, he did not even give me his name and address.

I received a Txt from 7738930868 today July 8th 2013 wanting to purchase my car thru paypal, sight unseen.  This must be a scam, he wanted the address where the car was at...of course I gave him another address.  I haven't heard from him after that.

Tried to buy my car with the same scam.  Sight unseen, paypal, and shipping agent.

He is STILL at it. He just text me today. The whole thing sounded weird so i jumped online and Google his phone number to find all these posts. He wants to buy my vehicle with out even inspecting it and INSISTS on using PayPal and refused to provide and other form of currency. I hope no one gets taken by this person.

O he dam near got me if i wouldn't have done some research n reading all this im thinking  dam as hard as it is for me to make 400$ y hand it to a forginer n the shipping co was Lola Adams La Vergne Tennessee 37086 that's all the info i got

He's still at it!  Just got the "text" today about a car I have for sale. Wants to send shipper agent to pick up my car after payment through paypal. Said no way --- face to face cash is the only way I'll sell.  SCAM.

Yep, this same d****head tried scamming me too...says he's a trucker and wants to send me through paypal $500 more than the asking price for my car and have me wire the money to his shipper. Red flag. I said stop hiding behind a bunch of texts and call me. He did! He is an Asian of some kind calling through a google subscriber. I've  still got him on the hook.. he thinks visa-versa...wrong. Lets see if I can trap him or at least screw with him!

Yes, me too! I'm glad I found this. I text him back addressing him as Steve from Chicago and never heard back from him.

hahah i just got a text from him about a camper i am selling and i just called him out on it ummm no reply go figure

i have been contacted by this same number also wanting to buy a car i have listed on cl. he has texted me saying he would pay me via paypal and have his ''shipper agent'' pick the car up after i am paid. i told him cash sale only,after i looked this number up. thanks for the posts its a big help to us that are being scammed by people like that.

This guy called me and wanted to buy my car I just posted on recyler last night.  He wants paypal.  He tried calling me I didn't answer.  He's pretty stupid using the same number and location. Looks like he is consistent for the year 2013.  Must have been a New Years resulotion to rip people off.  Yeah right

Offered to buy my motorcycle, sight unseen, for his father.  Said my asking price, plus shipping cost, was deposited to my PayPal account, but could not be claimed until I sent $770.00, supposedly the shipping price, via Western Union to the shipper.  I called PayPal and was told it was a SCAM.  I called the individual at the number he called me from and I could not understand what he was saying.  Some of the warbled garbage he was spewing out was something to the effect that he was going to report me to the police because I was stealing money from him, imagine that.

Yah this guy wants to ship my old beater, and it would cost more to ship than it is actually worth.
I felt like sticking it on a truck for him, especially if he is paying up front.  It would get it out of my drive way.

This type of scam has been around for at least 7 years ago. They used to offer you a cashier check or money order.

Yes, I think he has been at this awhile.  Wanted to buy an SUV we had for sale. Got in touch with us by text and even called us.  Now that we figured out what he is up to, he keeps calling and texting.  Thank heavens we came to our senses and figured out what was going on.   Wish I would have seen all this stuff sooner.

Tried to buy my jeep for his father and he was not be in town b/c of work but was ready to buy and was going to arrange for pick up. Wanted to pay me thur PayPal .. Scam!
