Strange call. Don't pick up!

Called on 11-5-07 at 8:29pm.  Didn't know the number and did not answer.  Let the answering machine get it.  When it kicked on they hung up.  I checked the area code in the phone book and it says it's from Ontario Canada.  We have State Police in Canada?  I doubt it.

Called at 8:51pm, when I answered the phone they hung up.

HAS ANYONE CONSIDERED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THIS COMPANY or THE TELEPHONE COMPANIES FOR LETTING THEM DO THIS. MAYBE SOMETHING TO LOOK INTO. The phone company says they can not help me.

I dont pay $140 a month to the phone company so telemarketing companies can harrass me at home. This would be like a car dealership stopping by and saying they were going to take my car for a while even though I already paid for it.

This one guy will call almost every sunday morning. wont talk to me only my wife. When I ask who it is, he asks who am I, very rude. Yelled at my wife one day because she would not donate any money.
Their phone number will not come up on caller ID any more, which I thought was illegal. We are on the federal no call list and my wife asked that we be removed from his list, a long time ago.

I answered call and he said he is calling to help the families of policemen.  He had a weird voice.  I said to send the info by mail.  He said "How much do you want to give?".  I told him "I think this is a fraudulant call" and I hung up.  I used *69 to get the number.

There is a Comcast feature  -  *60  -  which will block the call for you, begore the phone even rings. Works like a charm for me!
Just dial *60 and follow the instructions . . . not sure if it is dependent upon your particular calling plan, but if it's not free, it can't cost more than 2 or 3 bucks a month . . . well worth it, cause it turns 'em ALL into one trick ponies!

calling for donations

10-17-08 called between 7-8pm today, did not leave a message on the answering machine. Fraternal Order of Police Troopers Lodge 41 is bogus. They are not affliated with the state police. Contributions cannot be used as charitable TAX DEDUCTION. I am also on the DNC list. Can nothing be done about these nuisance calls?

Called Friday 25 July 2008; 8:17PM  CST; Caller ID "FOLPT41"; no message left on v.m. If I hadn't read some of the complaints in this blog, I wouldn't have known what type of harrassment this will turn out to be. I'll get back to report to this blog AFTER I have actually spoken with someone at this mystery number. But I'm "armed" with info now that all of you have spread the word about what I should expect. I'll know how to BETTER handle the bums who are calling me! THANKS for spreading the important word about this menace. We all have enough other stress w/o this kind of crap calling into our homes.

Just call 800-584-5341 and press option 9 and it will take your number off of their call list.

I just tried it.  The recorded message said I would be remved from all their lists.

so sick of these calls, as i too am on the "no calls list" too. When the caller ID picks up the number, i don't answer it, but i still have to clear the phone and the answering machine. so tired of these people and their scams.

I have received multiple calls within the last month and a half and have avoided it like a plage. Caller(s) did not leave messages....Until JUNE 3, 2008 at 6:05 PM when one man left a message on my machine. What was the message? He was singing my name for like a minute. Yes. Singing. What a random message. After reading this board, I now know what this number is and what to expect. Thanks.

Calls at least once a day.  Never leaves a message on the machine.  If I get the call, its dead air.  Have received calls from "Faternal Order Police" for years.  If I politely say I am not interested and I am on the do-not-call list, the caller turns nasty and hangs up.  If this is really associated with a police officer association, they should be ashamed of themselves.

I would call this harassment.

Hung up before I answered

To those of you who are still getting these nuisance calls: call 1-800-584-5341. You will get a recorded message that give you the option of pressing 9 to be removed from their list. It's simple, and it works.

Have received several calls from this number not knowing who it is. Googled it and saw lots of other people with the same problem.  Now I know if it comes up while I'm home I won't answer

calls hangs up ,not suppose to get through

i got a call from them today 5/20/08 at about 6:30. This is the first call I have had from them

They called me about 8:30 PM. It rang twice.  They hung up before I answered.

773-920-1784  called at 4:12pm on Sunday 5/18/08 - called and when answered by machine - hung up.  Came up on caller ID as FOPTL41 ( Fraternal Order of Police, Troopers Lodge #41)- DON'T THESE PEOPLE HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN BOTHER CITIZENS?  No wonder the real "troopers" do not get any respect.  To the person below who said that it is a legit group - You are wrong - Family members are police and troopers and informed me that they are not representing any police or trooper facilities.  If they were, they would not use these tactics.  Please do not misinform the public.

Have gotten several telephone calls over the past year from (773) 920-1784.  Sometimes the caller identifies himself as a member of The Fraternal Order of Police Troopers Lodge 41, sometimes they don't. Sometimes the calls are 2-3 per evening.   They are persistent in their quest for monetary donations.  I have read the other blogs and did some investigative calling on my own.  The FOPTL is, in fact, a real organization that is associated with the Illinois State Highway Police. I confirmed this thru the non-emergency number of (309) 383-2131, Metamora State Police in Metamora, Illinois.    They are not, however, allowed to demand donations.  There is an eight hundred number (888) 270-7579 that you may call and raise complaints. This is NOT a bogus organization but their tactics are unconscionable.

There is to a Fraternal Order of Police Troopers Lodge.....You obviously do not have friends on the Illinois State police as that is their lodge!!!!
