Sharks are "cuddly". Compared to fraudulent and/or bogus debt collectors anyway. Smart consumers know their rights under the FDCPA. When two-bit, 3rd party debt collectors call, using tactics that are unlawful under federal regulations, an educated consumer is more than willing to laugh like he**. A savvy target can spot a fraudulent collector before the minimum wage buffoon can even go into his opening dialogue. Bush league debt collection outfits hate that. The people that work for bush league collection outfits hate that even more.
The state & federal regulations regarding debt collection are easily found. The FDCPA can be Googled. State regulations are found as close as your keyboard. There again, Google them.
The people employed in fraudulent debt collection are the lowest of the low. These are the people that are unable to find work in any honorable sector. They can't pass background checks, or they have felony convictions, or they have substance abuse problems, or they're just drunks, or they're just too damn lazy to work a real job. The owners and/or operators of fraudulent debt collection outfits can often pass themselves off as high rollers. For a while. Never for long. Attorney fees, fines, lawsuits & relocation costs inevitably lead to their BKs. Then they end up working the same lines of BS under a different name. For someone else. With all their assets gone. And knowing that all their future assets will never be in their name. One step away from the next girlfriend, or future ex-wife, taking them from whatever they've managed to scam the last time around.
The smart operators have already outsourced. Only the bottom dwellers remain. They're the ones that squirm the most. And it's not from being "cuddled".

He's a debt collector. Has to be terse and rude by nature (imagine its not an easy job.). Got a call because....well....I owe debt (wish I could pay,  but the job market is rough where I moved to). Carlos....we aren't all losers. Sometimes people just fall on hard times. If it comes to living in a park and making payments, or not making payments and having a roof over your head, which would you choose?

That said.....a debt collector is a debt collector. Rude by nature of their job. A shark isn't cuddly.

wow listen to you rant and rave.  I have had the honors of knowing Mr. Bennett for many year, and though he might be abrasive to IDIOTS, he never claims to be an Attorney and I have never known him to not provide doc's when asked.  He has been in the business for many, many years and probably knows the law as well as an attorney.  Most intelligent people know that if you want to DISPUTE something you have to do it in writing.  So before judging others, sit down and really take a look @ yourself!

Cordial until you put forth a well articulated argument, at which point he becomes highly abrasive and flustered.  He claims to be an attorney (which is illegal for a debt collector to do unless they are in fact attorneys), but given the fact that he crumbles in the face of any sort of questioning, he isn't.  Unless he got his degree from the Caribbean, I don't think any school would let him sit for the bar.  After asking for my legally required documentation, he refused (again, illegal), after being hung up on and convincing someone else to get him to send me the info, i received it but didn't receive instructions the method of disputing the claims (yet again, illegal An obvious shyster by nature, probably does methamphetamine during his down time.  Has an idiotic name that his most likely crack induced mother came up with while rubbing one out in between heroine lines and watching the child actor with the same name.  How's this, you say?  The actor named Mathew Bennett is only 21, how could she possibly have named her son after someone who was born before him??  Well, heroine is one hell of a drug... it makes you see s***.   That being said, I'm filing a complaint with the AG, good luck keeping a job Matty boy.
