It's called "spoofing" - where someone calls from one number but hacks Caller ID to make it look like they are calling from a totally different number ... bummer ... I am getting calls from all over the country (on our landline - not cell phone) with the same response on all (silence, then disconnect ... if you call the numbers, you get the same recording saying that the number is disconnected). Optimum told me I can block calls from those numbers, but that would do no good since they call from a different number every time. Only other thing you can do is change your number - not doing that since we have had our number for over 40 years. Sorry to be the bearer of rotten news. I plan on not answering them anymore. (I did hear that some companies use autodialers to see what time of the day you answer.)

Got the call and no answer. When I returned the call, the lines no longer in service. How could that be?

Called at 735pm no answer with silence on the other end.

Called my cell phone twice today. Silence on other end when I answered.
