I agree. They've posted this on more than one website. One so-called experience compared to how many negative responses.  Come on, let's get real!  Scammed too!

Those "How to Make Money in Real Estate" seminars are pretty much a waste of money, time and energy.  You can find out all you need to know by doing  your own research.  Investing in real estate involves a lot of research, especially if you are gong to invest in tax-deeded property, defaulted tax-lien property or in some cases tax liens themselves.  These  are most often bought at tax sales which the local cities or counties put up for auction, and  which are open to the public and are usually advertised in the local legal paper.  You can write to the localities and ask to be put on a mailing list. Or go on line.  You don't need to go to any high-priced seminar which basically makes money for the people who put them on.  They are worse than useless for someone trying to get into those types of investments. Beware of any tax lien or tax deeded property.  In California a tax sale usually gives clear title, but in some places the title might still not be clear.   Worse,  tax sales often involve properties that are distressed for other reasons and sometimes have more than one lien on them or some other problem which prevents them from being developed.   For example you can buy tax-deeded properties reasonably cheaply  in Detroit, but why would you?  Often times tax deeded properties have abandoned houses on them and you can be stuck with the cost of demolition and God knows what else.  My advice:  Stay away from these type seminars, do your own research and make yourself familiar with all the problems that go with tax-deeded-type properties.

Scott Yancey Seminars Real Estate and Tax Liens and Deeds Programs

We attended one of these events just recently, and it was quite a sales pitch.  The first Speaker, Shawn, was a very personable and forceful talker, although he stated that he wasn't much of a public speaker.  I think he might be convincing enough to sell whisky to a Southern Baptist preacher!  He had the attention of most everyone in the room, and kept the process going to the extent of having everyone (that did not include me most of the time) raising their hands and 'agreeing' with his slick line of BS.

There's always people present, whom are easily persuaded, and will agree to almost anything.  Those are the "head-bobbers" that will believe everything they see and hear.  Shawn had the people who were interested in the 3-day 'training', go to the back of the room and let the handlers take their $1,997.00.  There seemed to be about eight suckers at that point in time.  Little do they know that will be just the start of a scheme to remove many thousands of dollars from their investments and retirement funds.  My advice; don't do it!

Anyway, after about 80 minutes of this session, we took a break and they fed us a cold meat and cheese sandwich on a sesame seed bun (did I mention a bag of chips and a little fruit cup?)....yummy!  After the break we got back to the business at hand.

During this second session, a guy named Layne talked about investing in Tax Liens and Tax Deeds.  There is lots of money to be made in this type of shady business, but it takes patience and diligence to make the most of it.  I personally don't desire to be party to stealing someone's property this way.

If you want to get involved in this enterprise, you can do it on your own with some study and research that's mostly freely available.  This company will gladly sell you a "lifetime membership" in their "Tax Liens and deeds" program for a mere $1,497.00!  And there may be a 'discount' if you buy into both programs at the same time.  What a deal!  My advice; don't do it!

If after all this, if you decide to get involved, just be aware that the Real Estate buying program will make your portfolio many thousands smaller than you could ever imagine.  The Tax Liens and Deeds scheme will allow you make money on investments over a period of years, but your chances of actually acquiring a piece of property like this, are probably much less than 1%.  My advice; don't do it!

When the three-hour plus sessions were done, there were some more people signing up and giving their hard-earned money away.  I would estimate that about 10-12 signees bought into the business before the night was over.  That's approximately 20% of all attendees.  Not a bad night for the guys doing the event!

There's one other point I want to bring up...FREE GIFTS.  When some attendees asked about the free gifts, they were informed that they simply were "not available", with not much further explanation.  The brochures stated that all attendees would receive Scott Yancey's "Go Time" book and two discs...free??  Well, they were not available.  I did not attend just for the free gifts, but I think many people did.  I called and emailed them the next day, and I think mine may be forthcoming.  I feel blessed....  They did give us a certificate for a free "camera".  You have to go online for that.  I can hardly wait!  Many people may have attended just for the chance to 'win' a tablet.  If so, they were sadly disappointed, because those are only (maybe) given away during the larger 'Super-Money Taking? events.

In closing, I will say this.  The guys are good motivational speakers, and know how to 'hawk their goods', and I feel the evening was not a total waste of time.  There was some good information imparted throughout the sessions.  However, they need to "do what they promise" concerning free gifts, and stating that Scott Yancey himself would be at the event.  Concerning all these programs....my advice; don't do it!

PS.  I enjoy Scott?s ?Flipping Vegas? show, but he should be a little ashamed of this manner of taking people?s money (and lots of it) for a business venture such as this.  Next time I attend one of these deals, I'm seriously thinking about "crashing their party".  I would rate this scheme less than one-star if that were possible.

It speaks volumes that the one person that had anything positive to say has on these reviews has no credibility. Several people asked for further information in regards to the seminars yet there was no follow up. The only follow up is the repeated post of the same nonsense they already posted. Clearly, an employee of the company that can't follow up with people because it's a scam. They prey on the psyche of vulnerable people. At the seminar it is a highly controlled environment that does not tolerate any logical probing questions. That in itself should send anyone wondering if this is legitimate or not running!

Recently went to the seminar and would like some input from others who have been successful. Paying $2000 for 3-days training is a "drop in the bucket", considering they will be financing up to $500,000 per transaction at 1% interest. This sounds too good to be true. I also read that there is an additional $20,000. Is this part true.
Please respond to my email suesinghrealtor52@yahoo.com
Thanks
Sue.

I am in training all weekend with Scott and Aimees team and so far it has been worth every penny. No gimmicks...no BS. I was given a free cheap digital camera from their sponsors...being sponsored helps with the costs of holding the free seminars, which give us an opportunity to make an informed decision. I chose to invest in his opportunity. I am in my first training session and my brain hurts. So much valuable information! I cant wait to apply what I have learned and take advantage of all the perks that come with this investment.  No regrets here :)

The lender is a transactional funding company. I attended the event, but don't recall the name off the top of my head. You do NOT need to attend Yancey's "training" to use the transactional funding company - which was a lie told at the first "free" presentation. You can become a member of their transactional funding company for $49 a month or something without having to do any training. You get a code if you do attend the training - not sure if that code is for a free month or permanent.

Here's the catch: You have to form a corporation - which will cost you some more money - $495+ if you go through the Yancey special. The lender will not lend money to individuals, only corporations. Also, you can only borrow the money for 3 days, so you must basically have the cash buyer ready immediately after you close. The charge is 2% of what you borrowed plus I think it was another $495, so that is something to keep in mind. The minimum fee is something like $2795, so if you are able to find a deal that would result in a $10,000 profit, you're basically losing over a third of that to the lender.

Plus, I had a concern about what would happen if the buyer backed out. I think your "loan" might be converted to the high interest ones used for people that borrow money for up to 60 days to get a home, renovate it and then flip. I am nervous about what would happen in the worst case where you were unable to unload a property and were stuck paying huge interest carry on a loan. The Yancey events mentors did not like these honest questions and the private consultant, sensing that my legitimate concerns might influence others, even tried to get me to leave and telling me I would get a refund. I think this is because they did not want me there for that third day when they shiested a fe of the retired people into purchasing the 20-40k training packages. Bunch of scam artists and I hope they get sued and closed down.

I would really love to talk to you and find out if you are a legitimate customer or just someone posting from the Yancey Events company. I have found nothing but bad press for this company, other than your comment, on any web site out there. I had big hopes that this was not another scam but 1 positive post to 20-30 negative posts gives me little hope. I do not know how I can give you contact info privately but I would seriously like to know more. I went to the initial seminar, signed up for the 3-day seminar but paid with a check. I was promised they would hold my check until I let them know their were funds in the account. I called to cancel and told them to destroy the check but they cashed it anyway. I hope they give me a refund now and if I would have found these posts before I got cold feet, I would have stopped payment on the check. I guess I had more respect for Scott Yancey to not scam me!!!

1000 people will spend time to vent their frustration and complain about everything when they feel they have been wronged and make sure that the rest of the complainers and whiners out there hear their every word but the same won't post on-line when the complete opposite occurs, when they are benefited from something, yet they will vent verbally to everyone they come in contact with. You all write here cause you want something for free and do not want to work for anything in your lives..

It's def worth it.. The $2K (3 day) workshop is certainly interesting but there is too much material to cover, far more than I ever thought there would be, I thought real estate investing is something that is very easy to do on my own and I found it too be a struggle. Where I thought I had made $$, I had realized that I could have made more and after being shown this.. I was upset and decided to invest my time, energy, money and effort into Yancey and thus far...  1 month in, and my father and I are successful.

Yancey does all the leg work for us, from tax liens to REOs and the $$$ is unbelievable. What I believed to be to good to be true turned out to that although this may run parallel to that notion, this def works.

You and everyone have to follow through. Invest more than your time. Cause you believe that you're walking into these seminars and people are going to release their secrets of the trade and all the education without your dedication and ambition to invest equally, then you all are looking for that fast track, get rich scheme and regardless of what you say, it's proof that you have never worked a hard days life in your life. You're preaching to the choir and the fat lady has left the building.. to make money with Yancey. Im not paid to say this but I see too many people bad mouthing a company without actually saying they tried hard. Looking for that free tablet gimme? It's a generic tablet and MP3 player which is merely a token. The Apple iPAD and Apple TV that I got was legit, but I invested myself, $$$ and time as well as energy and mind into Yancey's training instead of looking for that easy scheme..

My father and I made approximately $!00,000 together in the past 4 years and now we are making the that same amount in 2 months. Yancey does the majority of the work for us giving us the tools to continue forward on our own while Yancey and their team are still there to assist us whenever we need.

I need to know if this Scott Yancey seminars are for real or not. I did my research and found a similar house flipper that got caught in scamming people for the same thing Scott is doing. My mother-in-law bought the package for $2K and then shelled out another few grand for the prop trend program. We are trying to convince her that this a scam but she isn't believing us. Even her own kids. She thinks this is actually gonna get her out of debt! We are trying to stop her before she shells out anymore money. She isn't working, she's on temporary disability and is maxing out her credit cards for this crap. Please help! This is in Portland, Oregon that these Scott Yancey seminars are happening right now.

I just purchased their kit for $2k, hoping to earn some income for my disabled daughter and me.  I was planning on using this income to pay for medical treatments my daughter needs but are not covered by her insurance.  I also purchased the Tax lien package for an additional $1K, thinking if I have extra income I could invest in Tax Liens.  However, I do not have any extra cash to be scammed! I only purchased the program because I have seen Scott's TV program and we both live in Las Vegas.  I called their Custom Service number left a message, nothing yet. I guess I'll be going to the seminar this weekend and demand a full refund. Has the $2k credit appeared on your card yet?

My daughter and I bought the $2000 training program and were planning to attend this weekend, however, t sounds like they want to scam people out of their money.  I thought this would be a good thing for us to do for much needed income to cover my daughters medical expenses... but now I'm thinking they just make lots of money from sell this program!   Thanks, I'm going to try to get my $2K refunded!

After sitting in the $2K class for 1 1/2 days, we realized that it was just an opportunity to sell us more "training".  In order to have access to their "PropTrend" website that gave you the information you really needed, you needed to buy more training.  We asked if we would have access to a mentor after the 3 days (like we were initially promised) and were told we had to buy the Gold, Platinum or Diamond program for that.  In defense of them, they did ask what we wanted to do and we told them we'd like a refund of the $2,000.  They agreed to refund our money once we returned the "kit" with the DVD's and books.  We promptly turned those in and are now watching our Visa bill for a refund.  We came home, searched around on the Internet and found sites that will help us move forward with our real estate investing.  You don't need to pay thousands and get suckered in.  The info is free with a little research.
