I recently applied for an AR/AP Specialist position through Chicago's Craigs List.  The e-mail is almost identical as the ones above, except for that the payments that they need cashed were said to be checks from the IRS issued as tax refunds/rebates.  The e-mail gave a valid company (North American Finance) and even listed a Tax ID# which made it sound even more legit.  After reading through the entire e-mail, it was clear that this was not a real opportunity.

I got a very similar message only my phone number was different....I got a email with 206-600-5461.  Blue Vally Machine Inc.....When the email seemed sketchy, I googled and sure enough, it wasn't in the same city/st.

I sent out a detailed resume, as well.  Is this something we should be worried about?!?!  I mean, we have address, past employment history and stuff....that's pretty important stuff...

I myself have received the same 24 hrs ago.. Scam-Scam-Scam..Report it to Craigs list.

I too responded to an ad on Craigslist and got this email in response.

I thought something was off, so I googled the company name. It came back as a molding company, not a construction company. I also figured it had to be a scam because no reputable company would ask you to send them money via western union. I mean, who really uses that as a method of submitting payments except Mexicans/Jamacans sending money home?

Blue Valley is a legit company but if you look, the phone number on their webpage and their email address are different than the one on this ad.  This person is using real companies to advertise jobs and changing the contact information.  It's a scam.

I too recieved the same email from someone who claimed they were from the Blue Grass Manufacturing Co, inc. The emails and postings were exactly the same as yours and many others. The first email they reponded back to went the same as yours like this:

I replied through Career Builder and got a similar message.  Since we all sent out resumes through Career Builder, should we be worried?  I mean now they have our resumes.  I sent a detailed email to the fruad department at Career Builder.

Responded to the same type of ad on Craigs list, only from Blue Valley Machine in Kansas City, Mo. Applied for accounts Payable, but was hired for Accounts Receivable. Pretty sure this is a scam as I have experience in accounts receivable and this is positively not how it is done! lol
Job ad was about the same as above, with the exception of the company name. Reply is below:

I could be wrong, :) but sounds like some type of money laundering scam. There is a web site for this company out there, and it looks totally legitimate. However, the 775-655-1971 number is not listed on it. Scam or not??

This number is showing up on phony job postings.  As soon as I see them on CareerBuilder I report them as spam and they delete from system.  One of the names to look for is Jerrod Wood.  Always check the company's website to see if they are in fact located in the city the ad claims.  Go to Indeed.com and type in the company's name.  You will be surprised to see how many of the same jobs are posted throughout the country.
