Same thing happened to me today! I've never taken out a payday loan. When I asked him questions he became irate. Told me I would be served papers and sent to jail for 3 months on 3 counts of federal crimes. Check fraud etc. Also said that I would be required to pay all fines that could cost up to $13,195.97? After he finished reading the "affidavit" to me he asked for a fax number so he could fax it to me. I said I'll give you my attorney's fax number, you can send all further correspondence to him. THATS WHEN THIS GUY EXPLODED!!!! telling me that I was being watched. I was so scared. I knew I didn't take out a payday loan and I watch my credit report like a hawk so I knew no one else had stolen my identity. What do I do?

On the first week of May, I received a call from a guy who has a heavy Indian accent and he was telling me that I got approved for a loan but I need to pay $197 first to run a "bank report", I did not took the loan and told them that I am not interested because I already had the feeling that it is a scam. On 05/14/2014, I received a voice message from a guy named "ROMY KAPOOR" from Kapoor Law Offices. He was calling from number (775)996-0239. He left a voice message saying that I am being sued. That is the reason why I called him back and get more information about the voice message. When I called him, I heard a heavy Indian accent AGAIN and claiming I took a payday loan out from Cash America Loans for $1000 and did not repay it, which is NOT true. The thing that scared me is that he even mentioned my bank account information including my routing and account number. He told me that I will be having a court hearing in Reno, NV on 5/26/2014. When I got mad and told him that he is a scammer, he just said "Have a good day." and hung up. I searched more of the Kapoor Law Group and I saw that the law office is for immigration and nationality which is totally in a different field. I even searched the number that he used and I got a lot of reviews from people claiming that the scammer totally did and said the same thing to them. I just ignored the situation thinking that it is just a scam, until today, 5/17/2014 AN INDIAN GUY WENT TO MY APARTMENT and keep knocking. I totally got scared and believe that it is the scammer! I did not opened my door and immediately write a complaint to the FBI. If he will return to my apartment, I will definitely call a police!

He called me with a message stating I owe money and that I would be served on 5/20 with an extradition to Nevada and the court case is being held on 5/26. I used to work for a police department and know how extraditions work and I already knew it was a scam. Just wanted to put it on record this guy is calling all over the place

I had just had this same guy call me. Said I was being sued by cash America.com. He wouldn't give me any information about the case, wouldn't give me a number for them to call. Told me I couldn't talk to them because it would be conflict of interest. I called Cash America corporate office and I'm not even in their system. This guy is a total a** and it is a scam.
Find out what company is supposedly sueing you and search them and call them directly

I got a call today stating that I too was being sued for a payday loan from a company that  I have never heard of. He said that I would be extraditated to Nevada, have to appear in the Reno courthouse in May. Well there are lot of court houses in Reno and he couldn't tell me which one. He said that I would have to pay them $3055.00, odd amount huh? To clear this up or go to jail for cyber fraud against this company that is of 0 tolerance in my  State. He had a very thick Indian accent and didn't answer my questions clearly but did have alot of my personal information. Very wierd but this isn't the 1st time this has happened to me and I just laugh at them usually but this time I lead him on and let him talk and talk and he made no sense. Cyber fraud is not anything like he discribed and what he said is not legal at all. These guy is a waste of time and definitely a scammer !!!! Don't be fooled by this idiot.

This supposed Lawyer called and left me vm of that i had commited fraud, that my case was going to be extradited to Nevada. I freaked out and made payment arrangements, first payment was through moneygram for 100.00 and the next was to be for 400.00 and I went through with it but Moneygram saved the day. The recipient was Francisco Morrabal. But im guessing he has already been read flagged because Moneygram told me they did not feel comfortable pay the money.  Consumers beware. I freaked out with all the bs he gave and I caved in. don't let the fear get to you. And I have to agree that if you speak to him like you are in command he backs off.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

This person calling claiming to be Romy Kapoor, is in fact a scammer. There is a lawyer named Romy Kapoor but he is in Immigration law. The real lawyer's ofc confirmed that someone is pulling scams in his name. Their office has been getting complaints. I was scammed for $100.00, and almost 400.00, thanks to moneygram they were unable to release monies to the recipient

This guy Romy kapoor called and threatened that I was being sued for a pay day loan that was supposed to have been done on line. He had lots of personal information.  He threatened thay I would be extradited to Navada . And that if and when I was found guilty I would have to do 2 and a half months in prison due to this being a federal crime. Needless to say totally freaked me out. But, when I went to my bank to verify this supposed loan their was none. I almost sent this guy $ 400.00 to a Francisco Morrabal but had to be by money gram. This was when I got really suspicious also when I asked what the date of this loan was he became extremely rude and refused to give it to me...BEWARE SCAM

This high dollar atty answers his own phone. This Indian accented guy poses as an atty and attempts to pressure information or money from his victim. He has some personal information. He is an uneducated-ambulance-chaser or out-of-work pyramid schemer. He doesn't pursue you if you speak firmer than he does or respond to him in his own accent.
