Got a call from 776-742-2741 with a bad pseudo-American accent, plenty of background noise. Said something about "dangerous" for my computer. I just hung up. Watch out for these types of creeps with nothing better to do than to scam people. Hanging up is the best.... or even better, not answering if you do not know the number. If its a valid call people will leave a message.

Received a call from 776-742-2741
sandy 2012-08-27 22:01:48 Unknown
Got the same call last night. Said his name was Roger Williams but was so hard to understand that I knew that was rubbish. Good thing my e-mail provider was not working at the time. Be careful out there.

Yeah, indian/p*** woman told me my computer ID number had been reported sending out crap. I strung her along for about 8 minutes then she caught on said I wasn't in front of my computer, I said no kidding, told her she was full of crap and asked her how her day was going. She hung up. HAHAHAHAHA

Please follow up and let us know what happens. I get daily calls from this number and it's driving me crazy. When I answer they hang up. When I try to call back, the number won't go through. Guess cuz it's overseas.
How do we make them stop?
Aruak 2012-08-18 21:45:01 Unknown
Number is definitely overseas, many languages spoken in loud room. BEWARE this is scam with many spoofed numbers. 776 is mobile exchange in India and regular overseas in Russia Maybe you need to ask for Peggy?
gscts 2012-08-18 21:40:32 Unknown
Caller traced to number in Karachi through exchange. speaking Russian or Kazak in background. Interesting, when noted that call was being traced, swore profanity at me, but record calls so analysis on way to local police and Secret Service...Phone bank support request scam?

When they call and you get a 'live' person, tell them you're interested but busy now, and tell them to call your office tomorrow, only give them the number of your local DA, FBI, and Secret Service.

Caller said he got my cell phone number by calling my home number and they were able to obtain my cellphone from my message on my home phone. I dont have my cell phone on my message at my home phone. I asked him to tell me what number he called, he said he didnt have that information but he did have my name. Then he asked me to give him my home phone number so he could 'verify' me. I didnt of course. He said his company had been getting many complaints that MY home computer was sending out viruses and it needed to be fixed immediately. I messed with him for a few minutes before I told him he was full of BS. He said he would call me back Monday. I can't wait. LOL

I get the same thing just now with John (Indian accent), a computer tech from PC solutions for my windows computer. He said I believe you are the computers main user. I said no and he hung up.
They have called here three times within the past week, but we have not answered until now. I asked to be put on the do not call list months ago and they hang up. One guy got really rude with me when I said I told you not to call here again and he proceeded to argue that it was the first time he had called.

I told him we have no computer here. He said he was told that I'm the person using a computer at this location. I told him ther is no computer here.... He hung up.

I have received a call from the same guy 3 times now. As soon as I saw I'm not interested he hangs up as quick as he can. This time I actually let him finish his little speech to see what it was all about. He actually asked me to turn my computer on and let him "walk me through the steps" to check it. Get real, I almost laughed out loud. I wonder how many poor souls fall for this. My mother gets calls from them every few months as well. I have never been able to ask him to take me off their list, because he hangs up too quickly. This time I am calling the phone company.

I got a call from this number. 'John' had a very thick accent (I believe Indian) and told me about my supposed computer problems. I'm an IT guy, so knew this not to be true. I asked for his supervisor's name and he hung up. This seems like a good tactic to get rid of them

Suggest you get phone tray application, plug into phone line, IT samples caller id and you can put a real obnoxious .wav file to get discourage these calls.

I receive 3 calls per day, I pick it up and they hang up. How can I get them to stop calling. I have called the number back and I get a message that the number cannot be completed as dialed.

These calls are solicitations for computer repair. They started after my computer was infected with a. Irus. This is the second time for a virus. Then the calls comence. They called on two phones at the same time this morning. I have repeatedly told them these phones were on the "Do not call list" and asked them to not call again.

This is around the third time I've received an unwanted call from this unknown caller. Have told each time not to call again. Nevertheless, they do.
the phone guy 2012-06-16 01:28:26 Unknown
do not call lists do not apply to overseas calls
the phone guy 2012-06-16 01:26:27 Unknown
the phone number is spoofed ... more likely coming from an overseas call center trying to scam unsuspecting individuals ... BEWARE
Not Again 2012-06-11 23:01:09 Unknown
The forth time I received a call from this number, and on the second call I asked to be taken
off there calling list, because I was not interested and my boyfriend is a computer Tech. I am
on the National Do Not Call List 1-888-382-1222 or go to: https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx
This will keep you from getting calls for Five Years, from anywhere in the U.S.

I got a call from a guy who could hardly speak English and said his name was David and I said how do you spell that? He answered with I'm calling about your PC computer. I told this jerk I owned a MAC. He told me that the software he had took care of Mac's too. I told him he should apply it to himself since he needed to be fixed and he hung-up..... (*/*)
