same problem. they claim to be calling from the Ontario Economic Development Office.  They should be fined and/or shut down as its fraud to pose as a government agency.

Some spammer. He claimed to be from the "Business development office" When I asked who they were and what they were trying to sell me he repeated the business development office chit. When I asked if he was government he hung up.
The area code seems to be New York but my webstats show no New York Activity. He had a Filipino accent

I get these calls 2 or 3 times a month.  They either come from a private number, a 1-800 number, or a number of all 0's.  They have all given me a different company name including "ontario chamber of commerce", "canadian business development centre" and others just don't tell me where they are calling from.  As they are phoning my place of business, i have no choice but to answer the phone and keep saying no.  The exact same woman (i recognize her voice now) calls every 2 months from the all 0's number hang up on me before i even get out the full sentence of "please take me off your list".  I phoned the local government one day who told me they know it's a scam.  Even today, the idiot calling me kept asking the same question:
guy: "are you still looking to change locations"
me: "no we're not"
guy: "sorry, so you're still looking"
me: "no"
guy: "you ARE looking"
me: "no"
he finally hangs up without saying another word after my lasy "no".

I felt like i was in the roger rabbit movie, and he was expecting that he might actually convince me if he kept telling me i was looking.

honestly, if i have the time, one of these days i'm going to say yes and play along... see just how far they're going to take this scam.

I just got a call from this number, and the woman said she was calling from the State of California, from some sort of developmental office or something like that.  She asked if we were still looking for a new location to move our "office".  I told her no, we were no longer looking.  Then she aked when we were planning to move, and I said that we had already moved.  She hung up abruptly.  We are a Pet Grooming business, so we really don't have an office, but coincidentally we recented moved our business. What a weird call.

I just got a call from a lady with an accent, saying she was with the city's "Business Development Office", and asked something about our new location... we haven't moved in years. She said, you're not still looking to move to a new location?" I said "Not that I know of", and she hung up on me. "Business Development Office" with my city's name, and there's nothing with that exact name.

At least once a week I receive calls from these people now I just hang up on them, when they
call they say there from the State of California I really don't care if they are from the state or not
it is not thier business if we are moving.

Same thing - repeated calls about moving and asking sensitive company information. They claimed to be the local census beureau, then some sort of town municipality.

Got a call from this number.  The guy had bad english and said he was from Alberta Business Development and asked if I was moved into my new office.  I haven't moved, nor am I planning to.  When I asked where he got my number or any information about my moving,  he started to stammer and just said that the 'information was in our system'.  I tried to press a bit more about who Alberta Business Development is and he said that his information must be incorrect and he quickly hung up.  Strange phone call.

Add me to the list. I have received close to 10 calls in the past 4 weeks. I don't have time for this crap.

Just got a call.  Couldn't tell if it was a man or woman (let's say man), spoke slowly like he was 'stumbling' over the words he was 'supposed' to say.  Said he was from the Chamber of Commerce and asked if we had moved to our new location.  I said I didn't know we were moving.  He said they have us down for moving to a new office.  I said "what do you mean?" He said we were building a new office building (really? we are only 15 ppl - lol!).  I said "Can you state our address?"  He hung up.  That told me everything I needed to know.

Two of my co-worker reported answering the same kind of call over the past couple of months...

I received the same call from someone fitting that description at my business line.  When I asked her which "Chamber of Commerce" she was with, she mentioned the one from the city in which we do business, but I'm not one I'm a member of.  This is some kind of scam or information harvesting (spam) method.

yeah, she's awful; she said she was froom the chamber of commerce and asked me how I was doing; its a busy day, i don't have time for solicitors, i asked her what she wanted, she asked me if i was mad at her and i hung up the phone, she was kind of an idiot
she called me back and asked me why i hung up on her i said, look, take me off your list or whatever, don't call this number again
she called me back and told me i was "just a receptionist" and to do my job
she's called three times since then, kind of a manic
