Received same exact letter. Had my daughter look into as well. Couldn't find an address for Alliance Financial Group on Wall Street as the letter indicated. Threw it out - doesn't seem legit.

My aunt received the EXACT same letter April 7th, 2010 and had me check it out before acting. Yes, totally a scam! BEWARE! Many things in the letter are fishy like misspellings, a Canadian stamp on outside of envelope for a "US" company, no return address, directions that state you must call rep. before doing anything, etc. All very fishy. Throw it away!

My mother received a letter from "Alliance Financial Group a Div. Publishers Clearing House" with the scam of having won a prize for $155,000 and an advance check for $3885.50 towards the "Government Service Tax." The phone number of 778-223-5910 was the contact number for "George Harmon." It is very similar to a scam running in late fall of 2009. Beware! My mother is 88 years old and very trusting, but she smelled a fraud when she saw it. I typed in the phone number and no other messages indicate this is a fraud, but it appears to be a case of the old scam in new wrappings.
