If you are in B.C. and receive a "so-called" collector call -- be very careful and circumspect as there seems to numerous scams in attempts to extract monies from you :  KNOW your Rights !

Inform yourself on the law:  Consumer Protection Act of B.C. esp. Section 115 as follows:

Disclosure to debtor

115  (1) A collector must not attempt to collect payment of a debt from a debtor until the collector has notified the debtor in writing or the collector has made a reasonable attempt to notify the debtor in writing of

(a) the name of the creditor with whom the debt was incurred,

(b) the amount of the debt, and

(c) the identity and authority of the collector to collect the debt from the debtor.

(2) A collector must not initiate verbal communication with a debtor with respect to the collection of a debt until 5 days after the collector has sent to the debtor the written notice referred to in subsection (1).

(3) If a debtor informs the collector that the debtor has not received the notice required under subsection (1), the collector must send that information to the debtor at the address provided by the debtor.

This number keeps calling and when I answer they keep asking me to verify my DOB and when I refuse to give it them, they want my address, and when I refuse to give them that they then say that I owe Telus. Funny. I haven't used Telus' service since 1995. mmm sounds like a scam to me.

Just called my unlisted home phone. I don't answer any calls from numbers I don't recognize, and I don't have voicemail or an answering machine on this number. So f##k them.

From reading what's on here, guessing it's a collections agency. Funny thing is that I don't owe anybody a red cent other than the car loan I took out three months ago.... which is up-to-date.  

I declared bankruptcy nine years ago and had my absolute discharge eight years ago, so any debts I may have had then are untouchable and went away with my bankruptcy. If they're trying to collect on nine-year-old debts, they're $h!t outta luck, and they can go fornicate themselves.

Did they do that?

They've called me 3 times today but because I don't know the number I don't pick up... If it was important they'd leave a message

I had this number calling me in August of 2012 and after awhile, they stopped. But recently they started up again. They must shuffle numbers around and then when they get back around to you, they begin the harassment process all over again. Just add the number to your reject list and it will always get rejected by your phone. They will get tired and move on.  

If you think it might be a debt that you owe, don''t pay until they show you in written documents what and how much exactly you owe. And remember if it is a legitimate debt, there is a statute of limitations on debts. Check with your province and most importantly, DO NOT say it is your debt or acknowledge it in any way. If you do, the statute of limitations starts all over again. If you have any questions, Google "debt statute of limitations".

i got a call from this same number 778-328-9992  & saying i have phone bills from 2010 & gave me false sin number trying to get info from me....they were saying that they sent letters & they got send back ''return to sender'' total scam!!! they did not have my real name or information they were just fishing for info & claiming around 2,500 in bills that i never was aware of, filing a police report !!ASAP!!  http://cbvcollections.blogspot.ca/

I activated a new phone on Saturday, the first call I received was from these people looking for a John, I told them there was no one here by that number but they continue to call and I have started to receive text messages from them to call them. I told the last person that I just got this number and to please stop calling and he said they would take me off their list but I have had two phone calls since from them. I hate paying extra cell phone charges to deal with a debt that is not even mine just because I picked a random phone number off the list koodo gave me.

So this same company keeps calling my cell looking for my wife. Except they are asking for her by her maiden name. I think this falls under the same category of the agency finding an old contract she had with Telus from 2006-2008ish and trying to cash in on what she owed+massive interest charges. She's actually requested detailed information about the bill months back and they just sent her an invoice for the total amount but no breakdown of how she owed the money. They basically phone my phone 5 times a day sometimes, 90% of the time when I answer it hangs up. Minutes later they phone her (new) cell number, which I'm not even sure how they got as it's only 3 months old (from Telus no less). When my wife asked Telus about it they said they didn't have a record of her owing money - plus why would they give her a new contract if she still owed them money?

I'm hoping that I can get the number blocked from my cell..

Got a lady who said "This is regarding a Telus matter, can I have your date of birth please". But I don't have a telus account, just a pre-paid phone with them. So when I challenged her, she hung up on me. Definate scam there.

This number has called a cell phone several times over the past couple of days. Answered today. After a pause, a voice asked for "Christine". "No Christine here". "Ok. I'll take you off the list." Duh

Collections!  CBV from the Vancouver, British Columbia area.  You're busted!  Truly they use questionable tactics and according to their website, they hire anyone off the street to yell at you over the phone.  If you have anger issues or are just a sociopath, please feel free to apply to their want adds and we'll be yelling at each other soon!

These ppl @ 778 328 9992 keep calling my cell at all hours of the day or night, no one is on the line when I answer n its freaking ridiculous, I'd kickbox the person on the other end of these calls if i knew who they were, where's the freakin' joke of a LAW to protect ppl like us from scammers

This number calles me constantly . I have a prepaid phone that is used ffor emergancys only. In the last week they have called. This phone Over 40 times.!!!! ts driving me insane. I dont have unpaid bills so i know it is fraud. . Annoyed to ****.

STOP harassing me....calling my home and cell up to 20 times a day...seriously man! I don't owe you money why don't you hear it when I tell you !! You have the wrong people !

This number keeps calling me as much as 6 times a day and same thing I won't answer unknown callers and they won't leave any messages.  I know its a cell phone from BC because that is the same prefix (778) they use. ....its so annoying because it happens every day...

This number keeps calling and doesn't leave a message. What the heck is going on.. Stop calling me gosh.

I have been received a call from this number and the guy told me that I owed koodo 417 dollars and he said if I pay at the end of this month, I can pay only 217 otherwise I am going to have problem. But I don't even know who they really are?

I answered and they hung up in my ear....

They keep calling and saying that I owe money. I called Koodo and they have nothing on my account.  I haven't been with them for over 3 years.  

I asked them to send me something in writing to my email, still waiting....

Best thing to do if your phone has the capability is to just block them. Any caller who does not have a legitimate caller ID or leave a message is certainly no one you would want to talk to. I have an unlisted number and get calls from these people. From whatever source they got my number it  would have been by illegal means or they are using a number which was owned by someone else a long time ago. Collection agencies in many cases have wrong numbers on file and will also try to collect debts well past the statute of limitations even. Don't talk to them it will do no good. These people are ignorant, classless bottom feeders. If you do have a legitimate debt and want to repay it, contact the original creditor and make a deal with them, ignore these 'collection' scum.

I have been harassed over the last three days, where they just keep calling and not leaving a voice message. I have responded multiple times for them to stop, and they haven't. I know I don't owe any money to anyone, so I got feed up of them spam calling me so I blocked the number they where using (778-328-9992).

This company has called me 5 times in the last 2 days.778-328-9992. Today I answered the call and first a recording came on that asked me to hold them a live person who asked for someone else. This is a private number that belongs to me and me alone so if they want that other person they are going to have to figure out a different way to get in touch with them. Leave me alone.

I want them to quit calling me or i will charge with harassment
