I owe a little over two hundred dollars to BC Hydro and get calls from the above number. I am a senior and cannot afford to pay the bill at this time and informed the caller of my lack of funds. They now call at least 5 times a day. I do not answer as there are no futher developments in my situation. I have COPD and find it difficult to deal with the stress. I can't afford my medication never mind the bill. I explained that if my finances change I will pay. They just do not listen.

CBV collections is a scam. I recently went through the ordeal of sorting my credit as it had been bad for a number of years. The only thing that showed up was this CBV collections, although both Canadian wide agencies that keep files on anyone and everyone continuously told me I had nothing in my records and my credit was fine. Even my bank couldn't figure out what was going on, and had never seen this before.
After a number of days of digging it simply just dissappeared in any association with my name.
They are now calling me again on this number.
It is a scam, these people are f****ng evil. Don't ever answer their calls or call them, they are a legitimately listed company conducting fraudulent behaviour. Good luck!!

Just so everyone knows, & this will-p****off the collection agents: by Federal Law, a collection agency has the power to "Ask You to pay your bill and offer assistance in setting up a payment schedule" That is all.
1) they are never allowed to call you at your place of employment for any reason.
2) they can not, under any circumstances, harrass you into payment, by phone, mail or in person & they may not threaten you or your credit standing in any way.
3) You do not have to deal with a collection agency at any time. You are only obligated to deal with the original creditor, even if the agency has bought the account from them. You do not have to deal with them. 4) a collection agency can not put negative information on your credit file.
5) so in short... all they can do is "nicely" ask you to pay your bill. But we all know that they generally go way beyond that.
If you are having a problem with an agency, call the consumer bureau and report them and if it is a serious harassment issue, or call at your place of employment, contact the police and file charges. These are federal laws that they must follow, but most offen do not and will push it to the limit. Yes, several collectors have been fired and / or charged under these laws. Some even jailed. Their employers usually get a fine & tell the authorities they never asked the employee to do that, thus leaving the employee on their own to take the blame. True sharks in every way.
If you are having financial issues, & most people do at one point or another in their lives, call a credit counselling service in your area. They are a free service in every province and will assist you. Do not deal with collectors on your own. If you can not afford to pay, the service will understand & work with you, without any judgement toward you, and no credit bruising. The calls stop immediately.

I no longer answer my land-line unless I recognize the calling party's number, I let my answering machine
pick-up the incoming calls.
My outgoing message to all calling parties is a continuous recording of the Jeopardy theme tune, which I
found on YouTube!!!

This telephone number belongs to:
CBV COLLECTION SERVICES
814 Richards Street. Vancouver, B.C.
CBV is a debt collection agency. They perform debt collection services for many different companies, including TELUS.
In view of their office being located in the business-centre of Vancouver, they pay very high rent, therefore do not concern yourself with their threats to take you to court, as they do not sue anyone, they can't afford the upfront court costs, and they certainly can not afford to lose their court-case should the Judge side with the defendant.
Also if you are not employed, then you are not suable, but you do not have to tell them that. In fact you do not have to tell them anything, and you do not have to call them back if you choose not to. Also there is nothing they can or will do if you put the telephone down on them.
If they are serious about suing you, they would do so.

Receiving several calls a day from this no. says "urgent business matter" twice I've waited for the "connection" once it went dead, 2nd time a man's voice said "hello" then the line went dead...they don't ever leave a message if I don't answer..
Guess I'll have to look into blocking the no.

I recently hooked up a land line, haven't had one in several years. There are 3 people on the planet with the phone number.
I started receiving calls from tele-marketers and the number in question shortly after hooking it up.
I encountered the same as Noah J. I don't answer it now but today I decided to call the number back from my cell. A CBV Collections Agency! I have nothing in any Collections Agency. So I googled them and this is where I am now...sharing. I wonder how many other people this is happening to? Not everyone finds themselves here looking for answers.

My friendly and sincere advice to you Justin, is if you wish to clear the debt, then just contact the original creditor, and ask them if they would be willing to accept payments to settle the debt.
Don't give a cent to the collection agency. The more people refuse to pay collection agencies the sooner they will go out of business. If people wouldn't pay collection agencies, there wouldn't be so many of them! Anyone and their dog can set-up a collection agency business.
You could always tell them to sue you, or f**k off. And then they either have to start litigation to sue you or they have to f**k off. Once you play this cart, the collection agency is stuck with the debt, they can not pass-on the debt to another collection agency and they can no longer contact you by any method, because in doing so places them in Contempt of Court. Judges do not like it when someone is in contempt of court, or when someone places someone else into contempt of court. This makes judges very angry, and they usually dismiss the case.
If the original creditor doesn't want you to pay them, then wait for the collection agency to take you to court, and let the judge know the original creditor refused to settle.
People who work for collection agencies are usually ex-convicts, schoolyard bullies or women who can't get a date.

Keep getting calls from this number. They do not leave a message. My room-mate picked it up once and it started to 'ring back'. I picked it up just now, and it went dead. I *think* it's for me, because I *do* have a debt that was written off to a collection agency, however as a point of order I have NOT recieved a letter from the agency that took it over saying they took it over (they HAVE to do that before they start calling!)
I'm not unwilling to start paying off this debt (I was unemployed when I defaulted on my credit card, but now things are a little more stable.) However repeated calls with no message left and no one on the other end when picked up are just ridiculous.

I consistently get calls from this number 5-6 times per day. I have picked up about 5 times in the last few days, and when I do I'm told by an automated message that they want to speak with me regarding an "urgent business matter". They then tell me that I'll be transferred to the next available representative, at which point I get hung up on.
| Nicole H 2012-06-29 18:07:20 Unknown |
Received a call from this number looking for a 'John Lewis'. When they called, I was put on hold and then transferred to the next available representative? I held on the line, as it is my work cellphone, just in case it was something work-related. I suspect it's a debt collection agency.
