Called and asked for someone that doesn't live her. Asked me for the person's number and I repeated "he doesn't live here." If you give me his number, we will stop calling you. FFS! Then she calls me ignorant and belligerent. I lost it there on her. I understand these people have s****y jobs but calling me ignorant and asking me who I am....pathetic!

Three calls in one day.  Listened one time out of curiousity.

The recording said "this is regarding an important business matter ... please stay on the line ... music ... this is regarding an important business matter ... please stay on the line ... music"

I hung up after two minutes.  Usually the scammers start talking immediately after the phone is answered.  I wonder if this "business matter" is like last week's call from another number about a million dollar lottery prize that needs a $2000 registration fee.

Debt Collector

Speaking from fifteen years experience with collection-agents, DEAL DIRECTLY with the source of the debt, TELUS or STUDENT LOAN, or the institution concerned.  Call Telus or better yet, go in to their offices, determine the amount owing, pay it, and get a receipt. If the collection agency continues calling, notify TELUS (in this case) who will check your balance, and ask them to instruct the collection-agent to stop calling.  Not all collection agencies are like this, but some are.  Notify TELUS that the company is leaving music/silly messages unrelated to debt collection, ie. number of account/amount outstanding.  There are some very professional ones who actually answer the phone, send you a bill in the mail, and so forth.  Realize that you may have to change phone provider and obtain a new unlisted number.  If Telus is doing this to you, change to Shaw or another provider.  If you pay the bill and the calls continue, notify a lawyer, and have a lawyer's letter sent directly to TELUS, as this can now constitute HARASSMENT.  Proof of payment will of course be necessary.

1. Pay the Bill
2. Contact Telus + Pay them Directly + Demand a Receipt
3. Contact a Lawyer
4. Change your provider.

Scum of the earth. The guy called me at work and said he hoped I had a good 'vacation' (very sarcastic). I had been away 3 days to an out-of-town family funeral. He said he had called and talked to my boss (and named him) about my finances, and my outstanding bill. I was so embarrassed. I went into my boss and explained the whole situation only to find out the collector had lied and never talked to my boss.  Double embarrassment.  This company is as slimy and dishonest as it gets. I was eventually able to pay off the bill to the company I owed it to and NOT CBV collections.

This number has called my cell phone repeatedly in the past two weeks. One of the times a recorded voice indicated that they had important matters to discuss with me and then when I pressed a number option I heard a beep (was this a recording machine?) and then there was silence. On other occasions I have heard just silence. The last call occurred at 12:42 pm Atlantic Standard Time. Just before this I was talking on my landline and all of a sudden a loud hum prevented me from carrying on my personal conversation with a family member. This has happened while I have been using my PC (that is, all of a sudden a loud hum would come over my PC speakers and then my computer began behaving erratically after that. By erratically I mean to say that it would start a series of frequent warm reboots with error messages on the screen to the effect that they (whoever they are) had discovered an error and needed to restart. Please note that the call on my cell from this number came in within one minute after the hum started on my landline phone.

I have no idea who this is that is calling but I must say that is an extreme annoyance and should be reported.

Just got a call. Didn't answer and no message left. If it is, as stated, CBV or whatever they're called, it's true that they do collections for Telus. Telus is trying to collect money from me that they deem is 60 days old. The problem is that I cancelled service at the end of November (contract was up, so no penalty there) BUT they charge a month in advance. So, I cancelled service shortly after the new billing cycle had started (only used a few days) but they're trying to collect a full month bill from me.
This collection company is a f****ng joke. They're extremely rude people who get some sort of pleasure out of trying to harass others. I've tried to explain why I refuse to pay the bill, but they say they'll keep calling until it's paid. I tried to contact Telus about it, but they say it's in the hands of the collection company now and is no longer theirs to handle. Idiots.
This is the 3rd number they've tried to call me from because I just keep adding their number to my blocked call list. If you want to add some of their other numbers to your blocked call list too, here they are: 1-416-482-7693   and 1-866-387-8749.

I'm getting calls from this number now to. I did some research and discovered they could be a collection agency. Like many others receiving calls  from them, I do not owe any debt. I do however have a name that I know other also have, one being my father.

Read this article. There are links at the bottom for information on each province. Also, it could explain when they hang up the phone before actually talk to you and/or leaving a message. If they do, they are not allowed to contact you more then three times over seven days. They are forced by law to harass less.

Hope it's good reading. I think it will help me.

I'm getting these calls now to. I don't answer my phone while i'm at work, I don't even know when it rings. They do not leave a message so I have no idea what they want. After reading many of these posts I am a bit frightened to speak with them. Particularly if they tend to call regarding cell phone. I have only been with one provider and my bills are up-to-date.

Advise?

I'm getting tired of them calling me 5 or 6 times a day. The first time they called me it was abut a cell phone from a company I have neve dealt with. The person who called me, whose name is Nancy said that if i didn't pay for the cell phone bill they would make sure that credit rating would be bad. Now they are calling from different numbers, I don't bother answering the phone, I just let the answering macchine pick it up. Btw my answer machine plays freaky music while being on hold. hahaha

This is most likely a collection agency for a cell phone. In other words, another way that phone companies like to rip off peoples money. I told my collection agency that I was moving to Australia and if they'd like I could send them a postcard explaining in more ways than one how they should go f*** themselves. This may ruin your credit for 7 years but after that, its wiped clean. Let them get their briefs in a knot. Ignore and delete.

since the day I activated my cell phone Ive been getting calls for somebody that I'm not. Calls ranging from court cases against her to police investigations and fraud charges, collection agencies, teachers calling about her son's misbehaviour etc etc. I answered this number today and they were looking for her too.

They don't seem to look into contact information, if they collect for telus they should see that my TELUS account is not hers. For those of you getting the call looking for someone else, it's likely that person just made up a phone number on the spot and it happened to be yours (or maybe that it had been their phone number and telus put it back into the system to recycle the number before the last owner's outstanding debt was cleared so we get to deal with all the crap)

They had been calling starting at 7am for a while. I knew there was an outstanding telus bill but had no cash. Called as high as 10 times in one day. Finally got aggravated picked up the phone and told them they were not getting a dime. I told them I would pay telus directly. They objected. Finally got cash paid telus directly and boohoo to you CBV no commision.
