How do you go about reporting this guy? He needs to be taken down

I also received an email from this man.  The first one was exactly like the one posted here, same phone number and everything.  I figured it was a scam when I replied for him to call me and never did.  Today, I received another one giving me the same instructions.  I replied that I figured this was a scam and that until I received a phone call, I wouldn't believe otherwise.  He called but from a different # than this.  He called from 647-655-5856, an Ontario number.  The second email he sent with instructions was the same as posted here, to do research and whatnot.  I am thankful a friend showed me this page so I didn't make any mistakes.  And yes, I am looking for a job and my resume is on Careerbuilder.  Beware of scams!!!

First email:

It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been selected to become my Personal Assistant in the United States. Statistics show that a resume and interview do not guarantee success, especially in the information technology field. However, you will undergo a 90 days probationary period to ensure you possess the knowledge, skills and abilities required to do your job satisfactorily.
Upon receipt of your acceptance email, I will call you to discuss your job duties in detail. My arrival date is March 28th, 2014 when we shall meet in person.

Our downtown office will open officially on March 31st, 2014 when you will be presented an Employment Contract, Orientation and same day we shall discuss date you would like to start work.
Salary of $1000 is paid weekly.2-weeks' vacation time and pay annually, and benefits include: Medical, dental, visual insurance and combined profit sharing (bonuses) at the end of each year. Working hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with 1 hour lunch Monday through Friday

Your job will officially start before I leave Canada. Which means you will work from home till I arrive in the States, and help where necessary so as to make our transitioning to the States easier.
A laptop will be provided to create efficiency in your duties. A disc containing the company's platform (software) will be mailed to you after a week.
A check will be sent to you to coordinate some purchases such as stationery, and secure accommodation (hotel) for me and other delegates attending the official opening of the US office.
You will also be required to make a report of tasks assigned to you on or before March 7th, 2014.

***Research on indigenous competitors? Who are we competing with in the City around and State. Expand the scope of your search here. (I will expect days of research on this if i were giving the task)
****Business groups--Check with local Centre and see what info you can gather on small business groups in town, you can try government-sponsored Small Business Development Centers. List contact info of entrepreneurs and small-business owners in town.
****I need a comprehensive research on advertising and marketing tools available to IT telecommunication known in the State. ****Research, list fresh out of school business/litigation lawyers in City.

Hey, SAME STORY HERE! Luckily I'm on a first name basis with the ladies at my bank and they verified that the check is fake. I hope this guy gets busted soon. I'm a recent graduate looking for a job, and don't remember everyone I applied too, even though I keep good notes. I'm reporting him to my local sheriff's office and hopefully he gets busted ASAP.

At least when I told the few people close to me about this "job" I said I was skeptical and that it was too good to be true, so I don't look like a total idiot.

Just slightly embarrassed now, but doing what I can to bring this guy down!

Notice it came UPS? Because if it had come by US Mail, that's a Federal crime. Take the check to the bank to have them look at it. You'll find it's a fake. Usually the bank name is real, but the transit numbers at the bottom are fake. DO NOT deposit the check. Even in the 21st Century it can take 4 - 8 weeks for a check to clear, and it's fake anyway.

Yes all the same info.and a few days ago when everyone was posting about it being a scam i stoped replying.he gave me a tracking number too.but i never checked if it was real,just 10 minutes ago i got a knock on my door.it was UPS.certified mail.w a check for over 5000 dollars in it.most likely a check.scam! If anything.

Okay, I feel really gullible but I fell into the same scam because I was desperate for a job.  He sent me a message today with the tracking number but USPS doesn't have the package.  Everything with meeting the realtor, emails, research, etc happened exactly the same way with me.  Honestly, I was thinking it was too good to be true.  Better Business Bureau in Canada has no record of the business.  Google Maps shows an apartment complex at the address on the website.  He has even called me since I questioned him on the rooms/hotel reservation.

Please be careful fellow job seekers.

I have had 6 emails, and today was sent 2  emails just saying tracking, and the other stating that a female realitor is set to me with me Wednesday the 19th to give me the keys to the satalite office. A company card will  follow so that i can buy the stationary and other office supplies that will be needed to get the office up and running when they get into town...  Then he said i hope to talk to you today 3/14/2014

This is a "Bad check scam".  He is going to send you a counterfeit check and have you deposit in the bank (he will probably claim he accidentally made it out for too much).  He will ask you to send him the "difference" back Western Union (less a few buck for your trouble).  Now, a few weeks later your bank will discover it is a fake and hold the person who deposited it liable for the whole amount (or maybe even charge them with the counterfeit check).  

Same logic as the "Craigslist overpayment scam".  Since consumers are catching on, they are looking for new angles on the same scheme -- hiring victim as a driver, personal assistant, or nanny.  But it is all the same scam

If this is a scam, what is their end game?  They haven't asked for ss# or credit card.  If this guy is for real is he trying to get free research for his needs?

I almost fell for this scam!. Hasn't sent a real tracking number yet but is about too!

yes, I was given a UPS tracking number and verified it's real on UPS.com....what's in it?  supposedly funds...this is very strange

I got that same email...3 different times in like 30 minutes. Once I read that email I was like yeppp it's some sort of scam. Kind of bummed I gave out my phone number after the first email I received. Did your first email say he wanted to interview, and he wanted your number and time you would be available to speak?

The website seems pretty poor for an event planning website. The photo gallery is pretty weak. Also the address on the website is a building with many suites, there is no suite number. I didn't call this number because that email was extra fishy.
