Caller said he was calling with a special offer from Telus. I had already had an email scam re Telus which obtained my credit card number. This appears to be the same people. Beware.

I just finished placing an order through Dell, and not even ten minutes later I got a call from this number. I didn't answer it as I didn't recognize the number. No repeat calls though. Kind worried as several posts make mention of Dell. I'm wondering if whoever's involved in this scam works for Dell. or maybe just a coincidence.

Called again - the person said she was from Google. Asked for someone who no longer works here.
| AnnetteH 2014-04-29 22:36:02 Unknown |
Called and asked for my boss by name. Said she was Julie from Google, but the caller ID said Edmonton AB. Sounded like a scam.

Said they were from Sears. And tried to give me a discount on a TV. But the sad thing is, i went to sears a week before and checked out a tv, and the Associate there sent a e-mail to me with the information on the tv i was interested in. So somehow theses scammers got a hold of those emails.

They are scamers. Don't give them any personal information. They left me a message asking me to call them back to complete my order but I did not order anything dell computer. The number to call back is 1-888-422-4805.

The caller identifies as from Sears and tells the recipient that he can save them $1000 on appliances. They are not Sears or connected with Sears in any way

Wow that's convincing -- if you're trying to convince us it is a SCAM!

This is not a scam, geez people. The is an outbound telcom group. They are hired by companies, fortune 500 types, to reach out for services, sale almost any kind of direct phone call type purpose.

Phone number belongs to Telus International, a call outsourcing agency. I called the Google Apps for Enterprise 866 number, and the agent confirmed that Google, along with a number of other companies utilize their services. I still recommend to anybody that receives a call from them to NEVER give your information. Call your bank/insurance/Google/etc using their OFFICIAL phone number.
Out of curiosity, I called the phone number they left in the voicemail, and the phone number lead to a Google Voice number, not a real company number. I called Google directly and asked them to remove my information from the call list.

This number just rang my cellphone and claimed to be Google and talking about their Apps service. I hung up before I got anymore info.

This is the second similar call we have received from this number. We called our Dell representative using the contact info we had on file for our account and they advised that if there were an issue with our account, they initiate contact via email to the assigned administrator for the account.

Interestingly, this wound up not being a telemarketer or anything like that for me. It was Jawbone customer service calling about a legitimate issue I was having with one of their products that I had contacted them about. She even gave me the right number for the ticket. I didn't recognize it when it called so I googled it and arrived here but then they left a message.

Got a similar call from 1888-422-4805 about a Dell computer order that I had cancelled and did I want to reorder? I never had ordered a computer. Checked my credit card bill and sure enough, a charge had been put through and then cancelled. Not sure what their scam is? Trying to verify it is a valid card? I ended up cancelling card to be safe since they had my phone#, credit# and name.

Some lady said some name I never heard of ordered a Dell laptop and the charge did not go through. Then she wanted my credit card number.

MY CALL WAS FROM GOOGLE (GMAIL) SUPPORT ASSISTING THE RESETTING OF MY PASSWORD FOR AN EMAIL ACCOUNT I REQUESTED 3 DAYS AGO.
I DID NOT ANSWER BUT HE LEFT A MESSAGE AND THAT HE WOULD SEND ME AN EMAIL WITH THE NEW PASSWORD.
NOT THE SAME SCAMMER BUT SAME NUMBER

Got a call from 780-392-0160, didn't answer, lady with poor english left voicemail about my Dell laptop order and that my visa card was declined. She also knew my name. I have not ordered a laptop from anyone. Sounds like a scam to me.

They're from MySmartMove.com, which is a TransUnion credit reporting and background check service. They run checks for tenants/landlords as a rental service.
With no Tech Support number on their website, I emailed asking them to call me.
For me, anyway, this was not a spammer.
UPDATE: Could be an outsourced tech support company for multiple companies.

I received a phone call from 780-392-0160 at work. The person on the other end said they were with this company and that they were representing my bank. They asked me if I recognized three separate internet donations I had made with my bank card, each on a certain date and in the exact amounts given. I thought they might be with the fraud alert department and verified each amount. They thanked me for my time and we hung up. Then it dawned on me that this could be fraudulent, so I called my bank to verify this type of call. I even called back the same number on the caller ID, and they said they have no knowledge of representing my bank...? I had to close out my bank card and have a new one reissued, etc. Someone, somehow is phishing for info and has illegal access to internet bank card transactions, and is calling out from this number.

Called and said they were having trouble with my order of a Dell laptop, which I never ordered. Might need to contact my bank and have my credit card assigned a new number.

I had fraud on my card last week. Yesterday they called from this number to say simeone tried to get a dell but it was canceled. The only info I gave her was to repeat the phone number they called me on because they have that info anyway. But something is fishy here for sure.

Said he was from Telus something or other verifying property owner and occupancy information. Asked if a tenant was named something I had never heard of, then kept asking questions. I finally just hung up.

Called three times in a row and left no message. Finally I answered and it was a woman wanting to verify our business suite number. She already had our name and address. I asked for what purpose did she want this information and she said they would use it for "regional data verification purposes".
