I don't have any debt. I have an unlisted #. Not sure why they would be calling me, perhaps they are looking for someone else.... do they call for any other reason that debt collection? only the number shows on the call ID, and they never leave a message.

Know they can't collect. Call then hang up as they can't leave a threatening voicemail. If they think they have the right person then send the proper paperwork as they should here in Ontario otherwise leave me alone or take their chance in court.

They have been hounding me for WEEKS for an old energy bill from 2009. I used the same company for energy until 2010 and was never sent anything saying I owed almost 500 dollars. I never admitted to the debt but asked for a invoice to show me why I owed it and what house and they keep making up excuses on why I have not recieved it and always end with you should probably just pay the debt. Ummm no. I haven't even lived in Alberta for 2 1/2 years and now this is coming up!? Suppppper sketchy and i'm not falling for it!

I did pay my student loan to them, and apparently they never paid it to RBC. I have another agency harrassing me on ths loan, which according to NCO i paid almost all of it, until they returned 2 payments and I heard nothing, now I have been told I owe 3200 to RBC for student loan, that I now have leger showing it paid, then payments taken off, and rbc said they have recieved nothing on this account...plus I was granted medical loan forgiveness.. So, double harrassement and I'm going after RBC and NCO  my score took a major hit because of this.,,.This time its because I paid it, I think they kept the money so now I am harrassed again..Look out NCO and RBC.. I don't back down easy..I will fight for the little guy..for whatever reason I seem to get Bell, Rogers, banks ect with whatever BS they can put on the little guy.. My husband asked how it is I get all the bad luck with these people..he wouldn't believe it if he didn't live threw it with me... I say cause god knows I can handle it.. I'm getting the run around trying to get ahold of these creditors..lol.. wonder how they are gonna like ME hounding them!!!

Keep calling me looking for someone else! It doesn't seem to matter how many times I tell them that the person is not at this number, they keep calling back. I even had some very rude woman tell me that I was lying!

They just called again, hence this write-up, and another woman wanted me to send them proof that I am really me! Needless to say, I told her I do not share my personal information with anyone, especially an anonymous caller.

I expect another call tomorrow.....

NCO is very much less then honourable. I don't even answer the phone on any unknown name. I get messages about an important "business" matter to call back about. I worked for the Cash Store for 9 months. NCO was calling people with payday loans that were not overdue to have them pay NCO. I don't know how they get hold of information like that. However do NOT when they call EVER give them the missing details! There is a 2 year statue on unsecured debts in Ontario. They can not collect unless you admit to owing the debt. Even if you want to pay the debt companies like NCO are debt scammers and there is no gtee the companies owed will get paid. Or that NCO bought the debt.

These are bottom feeder people. I get calls every so often. There is a two year statue of limitations on unsecured debts in Ontario. Even if you do or think you might owe some debt for years back, Do not admit to anything to them. Unlikely even if you wanted to pay an old debt it would get paid by NCO. They say they want to talk about a "business matter"

Caller ID 1-780-441-4001
Caller ID 1-780-441-4002
Caller ID 1-780-441-4003

Use Google Voice and enter these numbers as "blocked", and callers will hear a "this number is disconnected." message. Canadians, in order to register for this free service, have to spoof their IP number and have a US-telephone number in order to get around the "US-only" restriction. I use toktumi.com and vonage.ca to get US telephone numbers.

Because I have a house number through Vonage I don't want to change, I forward the calls to Google Voice to block or if they are on my calling list, they are forward further to my number on toktumi.com, which forwards to my cell and back to my house number. Collection calls don't stop, but they are fewer and farher betweeen and are not heard by me with this setup.

Another trick is to forward known calls to an expensive pay-per-call service, which bills the caller ID no matter how it is forwarded.

I received a call from NCO (441-1000) and I have EXCELLENT credit. I phoned both Equifax and Trans Union to verify my file.  Nothing has ever gone to collection for me. I also receive yearly credit updates from Equifax to guarantee that nothing has gone fraudulent with my file.  NCO would not state what type of company they are, would not state why they were phoning, only that they received a file for me. There is absolutely nothing they would have received regarding a bad debt from me. I protect my credit and I am very proud of my excellent credit.  they would not provide any information to me until I provided them with personal information. I don't think so. They then stated that they would continue to contact me until I agreed to cooperate.  I am highly irritated and have no idea how to stop them from contacting me with this nonsense.

they call me. after refusing my payment plan i started charging them 30 dollars a call and removed the amount from what i owed . they asked ' what happens when it gets to zero. ;'  i said its finished i dont owe anymore. they offered me a deal 25 percent on the dollar. they said pay today . i said i get paid on friday take it then. they said no. i said that is your decision. charged another 30 dollars and its going to zero. If you make an offer that pleases yourself they will refuse. Once they refuse to take your money start charging them per call.

see messages left under 800 notes.  Do not even answer the phone, return all mail unopened, and forget about them.  Don't let them ruin your day, but don't let them trap you.  In Alberta, they cannot sue you on a debt over 2 years old UNLESS you acknowledge the debt &/or make even one cent of a payment --- no payments, no comments, do not answer the phone, have nothing to do with them.

This call centre called me and left a voice matter about "some urgent matters" for (individual with same first initial J but male - I am female) and the correct surname. Nice try. When I demanded who was called the stupid girl with a Canadian or American accent got nervous and hung up on me!

This phone number belongs to Pamela Hayes of NCO Financial in Edmonton.  NCO Financial is a collection agency.  They are not exactly the most reputable firm on the planet.  A Google search of NCO Financial will bring up more of their unethical and/or illegal garbage than I can possibly post here.

Pamela and NCO Financial also use the toll-free number 1 877 237 2215.  Note that any time you dial a toll-free number, the company you called sees your phone number.  Even if you block your Caller ID.

The best way to contact NCO Financial is to call the main number (780 441 4000) collect from a pay phone.  That way your real number does not appear on their phone bill and NCO Financial has the added hassle of paying for collect call.

At 2:10 pm I received a call from this number. When asked to identify himself and his organization, he would only give his first name. He became quite aggressive, almost threatening, telling me I 'must' provide personal information.
He refused to provide a reason for calling.

It was only by using google, not 411, that I was able to identify this company.
I've reported this to the local police and Phone Busters.

This number belongs to NCO Financial. They are a collection agency and not the most honest company on the block.

When they call I tell them I have no outstanding business with NCO and that if they feel I owe money to please contact me in writing.  If they ask me for an address I tell them that if their concern is legitimate they already have my address.  :)

It is more difficult for collectors to lie when they contact you in writing. This is exactly why I insist and why they don't like to.

purchase a recording device so that it will tape your telephone conversation.

have them give you as much information as possible. keep them on the phone to record as much of the conversation as you can.

who the principal is, when was the loan date, what was the limit, when was the default, how much was the default for, how much is it now, what was the interest rate, what is the interest rate now, etc. etc. etc.

then have them hold. rewind the recording and tell them to listen.

once their know they're recorded they will probably hang up and you may not hear from another collection agency until they sell the debt to someone else.

check your credit report to find out the contact information for any outstanding debts.

contact the creditors and either cut a deal with them or bring them into a contractual arrangement.

write a letter to the credit reporting agency(s) and let them know you have dealt with the situation.

the creditor has 30 days to appeal or the credit agency removes their reporting record of your debt.

good luck

This is NCO Financial in Edmonton - note they do not even call themselves a collection agency!  Good advice above - do not speak to them, return their calls, etc.  Especially do NOT make payment arrangements - there is a statue of limitations in most provinces of two years, even although they may  TRY to collect after that period, or even try to get you to simply ADMIT to the debt. Never do any of the above, especially making a payment, for if you do,  that two year period starts all over again.  NEVER, ever send a debt collector of any sort a cheque, or provide banking information over the phone..If you are settling a debt, send a money order from the post office so they do not know where you bank!!!  Otherwise you may see your bank account drained!!!
Incidentally, a review of NCO Financial's Better Business Bureau Report as of today's date (Feb 8/11)
is RATED A BIG FAT......."F"....... the provincial government should not be allowed to license a collection agency with such a terrible tract record.  With a disgusting record like that they should not be allowed to call anyone to collect money  - talk about outrageous - this is the pot calling the kettle black LOL - really, check it out at "Southern Alberta Better Business Bureau, click on check out business, type in NCO Financial, Edmonton, Alberta, and you can read this for yourself.
