The Ontario LTD # led me to a water purification company.  It's a legit company-but a hook scam to 'cold' call potential customers...pls do not respond or call the numbers...once you do, your number is registered for telemarketing calls and sold.

I also got a card in the mail. I was interested so I called and sure enough I had some girl come and do a water presentation. At first I thought oh here we go, but she was actually really nice and informative. The water system was awesome so we thought what the hell. We financed one from her and it has made a huge difference in our house. I think the marketing is a little bit dumb but it's just marketing like flyers or tv commercials. Think about infomercials. You guys can think what you want but in my opinion this was not a scam. Just crappy marketing. All the financing was through TD so I doubt that a bank like TD would work with a shady company. Just a thought;)

I'm 100% sure everyone gets a price. Prices are "lined up" to make you think you won a TV.  But the fine print says:
"Prizes determined by company Master's list". And guess what. It says that they print (I doubt) 1'600.000 cards. And from those, your chances to win 999/1000 are a Hotel 'instant' savings card for $500. That's what you will get. And I'll bet it will be useless. And to get that you will have to listen for an hour and a half a sales guy trying to convince you to buy some homecare product.

I agree, it may not look like a scam, but it is deceptive. And if they have never given away any REAL prize, somehow it has to be illegal. The problem is, nothing will happen. I already reported a similar one to OLG, and after a follow up they told me that they can't do anything.

A search in google with the terms: "company's master list" site:bbb.org

We just got a card in the mail.  There is no license number for lottery from the OLG so figuring this is a scam.

I have the exact same thing happen to me but I'm from eastern Ontario. When I called she said that they would like to show us a water purifier. He hasn't came yet still waiting.. Does these people try and sell you stuff? Or are they going to do something like identity. Theft? ... I'm a little nervous now.

I won, I phoned, I used *67 so they could'nt track me,  they first wanted phone #, they wanted to have a sales person phone and set up a in house presentation for a Respritaire.  The company is called the Distribution Center in Ontario.  They are step below the duct cleaners!  They come in your house, sell something over priced, case the joint, put your personal info on the net, you get all the wacko companies phoning you, you get robbed one way or another.  Research, buy local what you need, stay safe, protect your identity, your house! I got a texas hold em card in the mail and like the person above had 2 tens and 3 aces of course I knew it was a scam cause I been getting these for many years and they are all the same cards, There was a number on top so I called it, I called 1-403-250-3813 an a  lady answered  the phone ask me for the skill testing question answer I told her 6 she said that's correct now you can choose one of the six price than ask me if I was a home owner and for my credit card number. hmmmm.... Why would they need you're credit card number??? It's a big scam and should never trust anybody....

I got one of the texas hold em poker scratch n wins too, local lethbridge AB number stamped on the back. answer as h20 water when I called so I said wrong number and checked online. same same same! what a stupid scam

Thanks for everyone posting on this site.  I got a winning card today too but no number on the back.  Was claiming to be from Tristar as well.  I guess the only cards like this you can ACTUALLY win on (but never do) are the ones you get from safeway when you leave the store.  :)

Well trusted is putting cards in Ontarians doors now with the same scam. The # on the back is (519)3581873 which when googled comes to two different addresses. READ THE FINE PRINT

The number on my card is 613 241-7890 and now its a 'bingo card" Beware! Think it was a mass mail-out to mail boxes here.

So I purchased a Tristar vacuum a few years ago, the Alberta Direct Sellers Contract I was given has the phone number on it 780-460-4468, I called that number today and got a lady at her home, she was nice and appeared to be receiving numerous phone calls from some mix up in phone numbers. Not sure if she was telling me the truth - I would like to hope she was. All I know is our payment contract is ending soon and I want to talk to someone about it, none of the numbers I have work though. If anyone here has a contact number for this company besides the one mentioned above I would be happy to know it.

I had one and got excited for a while, then decided to look them up. I won't bother calling. I don't feel like having somebody round to my home for an hour or two to demonstrate a "Tristar, SimpleH2O or Respiraide home care product".

If you read the back of the card carefully it tells you the actual odds of winning each of the prizes: the highest odds being "Travel accommodation gift certificate" at 997/1000 chances. It will likely be some negligible amount when you book a vacation, probably with a specified company. (something which we are highly unlikely to do!). The odds for winning the car are 1/800,000! The other "worthwhile prizes" are 1/1000

I don't think it's a SCAM as such, just an advertising campaign for a product I don't want and don't need.

So into pieces and into the garbage where it belongs!

I just got one in the mail and no phone number in sight! looked it up on the internet and found this site guess its not my lucky day after all.

I called and had someone come to my house and had to sit through a presentation of the company's vacuum. I thought it was a great machine but could'nt afford it. My card was a winner, I won a Netbook. it was delivered to me within a week. Glad I didn't read these "scams" on this site. I read the card thoroughly , unlike some people apparently. It explains every card is a winner!! What it does'nt explain is what you won. I was told the purpose of the presentation was for advertising, which they did. I will be more than happy to tell people it is a great vacuum.

So, through this stress and discomfort of all the bad things the ppl are saying, you did recieve a prize? And which of the few scratch and wins did you recieve in your mail? This is the second year I have won something from the Texas hold em scratch card. Last year I didn't even bother to call, knowing it was a scam. I'm just curious has anyone collected a prize? I wonder how they scam people into not getting their prize?
