Got a call from a local number. Answers and it says I won 26000 airmiles, to accept press 1.
I pressed 1. A pleasant sounding ENGLISH guy says
Hello, congratulations on willing the airmiles draw, are you over the age of 30?
I answer; "No, I'm 28, why?" He says "Sorry, you do not qualify, have a nice day" and hangs up.

After reading 5 pages of this thread, no entries in nearly a year, it's interesting this is still going on, and that they are targeting a certain age group? Never had the chance to give them my credit card number or SIN, he just hung up because I'm too young - why? you want a higher credit limit? I'm not goooood enough for your scam?

It comes in showing Alberta on caller ID.  Number is not in service or invalid as it has been spoofed for caller ID.  I did not give them a chance to make their pitch. They were trying to tell me something about Microsoft Windows on my computer.  Obviously a scam of some sort.  I berated them for violating the do not call list and for caller ID spoofing and threatened to report them to FCC if they call again.

This number keeps calling me and i have no idea who it is....when i call back, the number is not in service????

got this call two times this weekend, thanks for all the posts that let me know the fact.

Whoever it is they are getting bolder. I was called on my cell phone from this number and my area code is not 780; it's 403. I didn't answer (I was away from the phone) and no message was left.

Just got a call this morning, missed answering it. They have called my cell throughout the month while I've been at work. No voicemail.

missed a call from this number - no mssge left.  Tried to call back but number not in service.  Will report.

Got a call tonight at 7:30pm...In Toronto...didn't pick up. Don't have an air miles account either so not sure how they got my number? It must be random dialing....

I also have gotten a call from this number on my house and cell my husband and his partner have also recieved a call from this number on there cells and they some how called there work radio also.
It's freaking annoying!!!

Got a call from 780-578-9898. Did not answer. They did not leave any message. It seems that this  number is being use a lot. Is there way to check this numbers owner and stop them.

Recording offers 2600 Travel Points. Hang on and the friendly guy asks my name (collecting inof to go with tel#?) I asked how he got my number and he hung up on me!

Received a call as 12 Noon Aug 10th, 2012 on cell phone.
Did not recognize the number so did not answer

Just got the a call from this number as well...and I do not live in Alberta! No message was left on voicemail and when I called it back it is not in service.

Just received this call, I always look the number up online before I even pick up. Sure glad I did because based on all the posts here its another annoying pos scam. Sigh when are they ACTUALLY going to do what the Do not send program was supposed too...

Another scam number and these things are really beginning to tick me off

I just got a missed call from them also...780-578-9898...for some reason it said "Alberta Canada" on call display. I didn't answer.

This is the 2nd time they tried calling...last time it said Vancouver (same phone number) on the call display. I answered and thought it was my buddy visiting vancouver for vacay...the automated message said something about winning air miles from air canada...probably a scam.

I received a call to my BC Cell phone at 12:49 pm today from Tel#1-780-578-9898 and it rang and rang & my I phone would not un-lock to let me answer the call, it should have gone to my voice mail after several rings but did not, just kept ringing for about a minute so I had to power down my I phone to stop it.
Please follow up on this.

Wow I got a call on my cell a few mins ago, it said that I won 2600 air miles & to press one, as soon as the idiot (actually sounded like a real person) answered and said something like "Hello, congratulations on your air miles, can I have the name of the person I have the pleasure of speaking with? --- I said *F*** you, don't you have something better to do?  Don't call me again!  And hung up.  I really want to win something :/.  If it's too good to be true, it IS lol... noone will call you if you win something!  You have to do the work yourself.  I really hope that noone falls for this garbage.

Scammers call me, even if they claim to be from my banking institution I just hang up

They called me before when I wasn't home, wondered who it was, answered today they want me to press 1, not a chance.

This number called my cell-phone TWICE (one minute apart) just a few minutes ago.
I did not pick-up, since I know that nobody in '780' area-code knows my cell-phone's number.

Says I won so many Air Miles!
