I don't think that this is actually CIBC.

I didnt pick up the call. They left a voicemail and it sounded like someone was calling from home. Wasnt even a message the lady just said "i dont understand and talked to her husband in muffled voice, then just hung up?"

It's a scammer. Indian accent, called and said he was with Telus and needed extra info on my account to give discounted subscriptions. I'm not with Telus so hung up on him.

This number appears when a scammer calls the number you registered with the "do not call list" tell the person calling that your phone shows they are calling from a residence. They will hang up.

This is another one of the b*****ds who try to scam innocent people who are earning an honest living to support the family. Please warn all your relatives and friends to be careful of these b*****ds and do not succumb to their evil deeds.

Got a call from rep claiming to be from CIBC as well. Wanted to make sure they were meeting my financial needs. Asked for postal code and date of birth. I said i wasn't comfortable giving out that info, he tried to assure me it was just to verify it was me they were speaking to. When I was still hesitant he offered me his phone number to call back 1-888-831-8818. He left his name and extension as well and said he was calling from one of the main offices in Regina Sask. Then why did a '780' number come up on my call display?
Not sure if it is legit or not.

I got a call from this number and they claimed to be with some sort of mortgage broker. They called me several times after I was overly polite and didn't hang up on them right away. I also got a call from 780-628-3860 when I missed one of their calls, and when I told them not to call back, they called from a "Private Number".
Very suspicious. Caller(s) had east Indian accents.

Received a call from this number, claiming to be a financial services representative from CIBC, checking to see if they could "help me with my financial needs."
I simply stated, "No, I'd rather not" and the caller pretty much ended the conversation with minimal resistance.
Nevertheless, I still added it to my "selective block list" with my Shaw digital phone service. Since I found out I had the feature, I've added about 25 numbers. Very cool.

Same issue.....
I think this is the Alstream Switch Number. I have VOIP service from Primus and if I use *67 it shows this "Masking Number" instead of "No Name and/or Number", this way it allows the caller to keep their number Private and still get through to someone who does not accept Blocked Calls (*77). Maybe it is someone you know, someone that has "Permanente Private Number" and does not know that their "Out Going Number" shows up like that or maybe someone calling from Long Distance and call is going through the Alstream Switch Number or they are using some Cheap Calling Card that again uses the Alstream Switch Number.
Good Luck!!! Hope this helps!!!

What happens when this number comes with someone calling long distance. I find the call when it comes through with this number displayed like a local call will cut out with warning. Does this mean that VOIP is like Ma Bell? Why does this number display and not the long distance number the person is calling from?
When I call back this number it is always busy.

This is the number that shows up when someone is calling long distance and is using a VOIP service for their long distance. It's likely nothing to worry about as lots of VOIP calls get dropped.

Keep calling and hang up without saying anything.
