Didn't look at the display like I usually do and answered.  (With all the pest calls nowadays, I no longer answer long distance numbers I don't know).

Got at pre-recorded voice from Credit Card Services offering to lower my credit card interest rates..  

It's a scam and what is truly sad is that they must be hooking lots of suckers and making money because it just wouldn't be worth their while robo calling people year in and year out if absolutely nobody fell for it.

Said they were " Guard Services ". Automated and ties up your phone line if you hang up. so the message is still playing when you pick up the line again right away.

They called and left a message on my machine about me qualifying for a better interest rate on my credit card. Not only have I never owned a credit card, I am also on the do not call list. As far as I am concerned, they are not legit.

Got a phone call from this number and don't know who it is calling. Please remove them from being able to call me again!!!!

THEY ARE A DARN  NEIUSANCE THEY DO NOT SEEM TO GET THE MESSAGE. BANKS AND CREDIT CARD COMPANIES DO NOT CALL INDIVIDUALS ABOUT BUSINESS AT ALL AND ESPECIALLY BANKS.

I am soooooooooo tired of these telemarketers/scammers....and I am the one that has to pay out of pocket for an unlisted number to make them stop.....where the hell is the right in that????  Argh...very frustrated. :(

Just got a call. Told me my credit card account was fine and blah blah blah. Scam, scam, scam. Since it's not legitimate, they couldn't care less about the DNC list.

Received a call, no message, from 780-854-6598

I have an 'answering machine'  during the week I will get some calls from the 'Ediots'
what I do is: TURN YOUR ANSWERING MACHINE OFF when you are out of the house.
If you get a call while you are out - the phone will ring & ring & ring, they will finally give up.
When you are home & the phone rings - look at the number, if it is one of the ediots, shut down you
answering machine (before it answers) and the caller will finally give up.

This number keeps calling me. When I call back it is disconnected. How are they using a number that does not exist ??

just mastercard wanting to let me know everything is fine.  But I can qualify for lower rates! Holy S***.

I am tired of receiving these calls.  They call at all time of the day and since I have a hard time getting to the phone it is very annoying to finally get to answer it and it is one of these idiots.  
Now that I know the phone number and address, should I fall and injure myself, I will see them out and I will sue this company.  
My financial situation is none of their business, in fact their calls are an invasion of my privacy.

You are wasting your time..  I have spent many weeks researching and reading about the NDNCL / CRTC, and unfortunatly they are rules not laws.  The only thing you can do is contact you Member of Parliament (MP).  MP's are the people who make the laws for us Canadians.  I now submit compaints to the NDNCL as well as to my MP.  So, when I get bugged, he gets bugged.  I will continue to bother my MP until he does something about it.  The "rules" are not working.

I've created a draft email that I just fill in the particulars and fire it off.  Takes me up to 5 minutes, depending on how much info I can get from the telemarketer before they hangup on me.

Best things to do:

1) Keep them on the phone as long as you can.
2) First question you ask is for their toll free number. They are usually eager to give this out.
3) Their location (Canada / US / other)
4) Company Name (marketing company name or actual company name calling)
5) Callers first name.
6) Do they know what the NDNCL is?  Explain to them if they do not.

After that, toy with them as much or as little as you want.

Got a call from this number about reduced credit card interest also...

I have a Panasonic home phone system that allows me to block up to 30 calls.  I have blocked more than 30 several times, so I start deleting the oldes ones and start again.  Although you can block them, it still rings once or twice while the system finds the the number to block.  It is a never-ending battlle with tele-marketers and scammers.  The rules for the Canadian DNCL are so loose that almost anyone can legitimately call you.  I get annoyed when charities that I donate to on a monthly basis, continue to call and ask for more, which they can do legally!  Also any business you have dealt with or are dealing with can call you for more.  If Candaian law had any teeth and dealt effectively with the scammers, then I might not feel so ann noid about the legitimate callers.  My final action for some peace is to turn all the phone ringers off for a period of rest time, and check for messages later when I may be more serene. :)

I got a phone call from this mumber about reduced credit card interest.

I received this call from 780-854-6598, but when I called the number back the phone company intercepted my call with "This number is long distance, please dial 1 first."  Strange, because I live in area code 780!  Robot Megan said my credit card was in good standing, but that I qualified for an interest rate reduction:  6.9%.  I pressed "1" to speak to an agent.  I asked him to inform me which credit card he was talking about, and he listed off about 6 different ones and asked me to tell him which card of mine had the highest interest rate.  I calmly told him that since he had my file and was speaking about MY card, he could tell me which card he was referring to.  He said "just a moment, and I will check your file."  He put me on hold, and then, guess what, he hung up!  I have had these same calls 5 times in the last few months, but they come from two numbers at this point:  780-854-6598 and 250-372-8103.  DNCL is not helpful up to this point, and although I have reported every call, I get no directives or assistance from them.

Credit card scam. Left an "official-sounding" voicemail message. Only problem is Visa uses live operators if they need to get hold of you.

Credit card telemarketer, I hung up before I got the details.  Blocked at my PBX.

Just received a call from this number and let it go to the answering machine. I received the end of the message saying something about consolidation for 6.9% and to press one for yes to offer and press 2 to be removed from their calling list
