4 times in the last 4 months I've requested to be on their Do Not Call list; 3 times by calling the number back and pressing 2 and the fourth time by answering and explaining that I do not want to be called. They clearly don't take their DNC lists seriously

national do not call list has nothing to do with private telemarketing agencies we have a button we press when someone asks to be taken off the list it is only for what i call and i explain that they cant be taken off the national list it goes by individual case im sorry its inconvenient but that do not call list is far from perfect
| why are you apologizing 2009-12-06 22:59:05 Unknown |

its people like you that put us out of business. the Boston Globe telesales offices were the backbone of the paper. as you see now sales have dropped dramatically where the hell did you think you got your discounts from you cant get the paper on sunday for 88 cents like it was sold. so because after 52 yrs of serving the boston globe as community newsdealers when publishers circulation fullfillment took over they were the greedy ones paid us to work very hard for very little. now the both revere and waltham offices are gone and the boston globe is going under for sure. see we have families and work hard but people as narrow minded as you with your secure job and your fat a** houses look down on the little people some day i hope you lose your job and know what it felt like.

I am an ex employee of P.C.F. Sadly I am one of the people who would call your homes, sorry, I have to make a living for my family. I do not work there anymore. I understand your frustration, but i have the answer. When they call, simply answer the phone, let them run their script, and blatantly respond with your request to be removed from their call list, heads up though, if you are rude chances are they will put you in the system as an automatic call back, that is why you still get these calls after you asked already to be removed. it does take about a week to be removed but be patient. They are trying to sell The Boston Globe and The New York Times, they can be vicious by continuing to place you on the call back list instead of the do not call list. Again i am sorry because i may have called your home.

I've gotten so many calls from them; months ago I called back TWICE, and pressed 2 to be put on the "Do Not Call" list. Not long after I got yet another call and I decided to answer the phone -- I explained to the woman on the other line that I had TWICE requested to be on the DNC list and yet they were still calling. She made some excuse that it take a week or so for you name to be removed, to which I replied mt first request was about a month prior; the second 2 weeks prior. I demanded they take me off the list.
This week I started receiving more calls. I guess they don't take their lists seriously.

Thanks for the info - they've been driving me crazy!

You actually can request to be put on their do not call list, even if you are already a subscriber. They are required (and do) maintain an internal do not call list for even current subscribers.

It is indeed the Boston Globe. I get the Globe only on Sundays, and they keep calling me every few months to get me to switch to the weekly subscription, which I have assured them time and again I do not want. Since I do business with them (for my Sunday subscription), I cannot be placed on their no-call list. However, because of their incessant phone calls, I am considering canceling my subscription entirely.
On several occasions, the telemarketer has even had the gall to ask, "Can I ask why you do not want the paper delivered every day?" Notwithstanding the fact that I do not feel I need to explain myself to them, I do reply, "Because we read the paper online for the rest of the week, and I do not feel like having to recycle more newspaper than I do already."
They will keep calling daily, sometimes twice a day, until I answer, however. So I will have to answer eventually and tell them my tale for the upteenth time.
So annoying.

-The majority of people who get called after obtaining a new number don't realize that most new numbers are simply re-assigned numbers for people who dropped their service. It's the previous owner's information that is leading the call there, not so much rapid information gathering.
-9/10ths of calls are done through an automatic dialer that won't connect you to live a person until after you pick up and it'll recirculate your number back into the list to be called back at a later time if you don't answer. It's usually faster to answer the phone and ask nicely to be put on the no call list. Most of the time as long as you aren't rude you'll get put on the list.
-The international do not call list is very poorly maintained. Even after you've input your information- it took me about six months to get my name on the list properly.
Hope this helps answer some questions.

I have received 5 phone calls from this number since I moved to Boston 3 weeks ago. I did answer the first 2 times. The first time the person that was on the other line could not control her laughter (I guess a coworker was funny) and she could not even get through all of her lines. Very unprofessional! I asked them to take me off the list both times, and I just received 2 more calls today! Also, I am already on the do not call national list - this is getting out of hand
Thanks for the tip - I hope that it works!
