Called my phone asking for my wife, then I informed them that this was not her number.  Then they started asking me all these questions and where I lived...and I said I wouldn't tell them because I have no clue who they are.

They did the same crap to me just a few seconds again, they even had my ss#. How do thtse people have all thos info to be just asking you lile your being interrogated for beimg who u are. And wouldnt even tell me anything but its a personal matter. So i didnt give them any info he got mad and hung up. Wth?

If they continue calling the company or any others at work they may be sued for harrassment as well as slander they are not allowed to call your place of business

I received a call  from a "Carlos" who began to ask me for personal information. I asked him who was he calling with and he told me "Berlin Wheeler". I asked him what the call was regarding and he informed me that he would need me to verify personal information before he could tell me. I asked him if he would give out his personal information to a stranger that called, his answer was "is your address...." I googled the phone number and found that they are a collection agency.  I have no idea what they were calling about, I have had no mail received from them, nor do I know if maybe, I forgot to pay a bill? But he wouldn't tell me without me giving him personal info!  I wonder how many fall for this and get scammed?

Same thing.  I didn't recognize the name and they would not say the name of the company they were with when asked. They wanted me to verify my address and name.    When I didn't do that they hung up.

Agreed!  You are preaching to the Choir.    I used to respond by politely telling them that "this is just a discussion board and has nothing to do with your caller",   but  It's always all in vain.  I can type that sentence on every other post and they still will post and complain about this board not stoppng their unwanted calls or think they are speaking directly to the persons responsible for their unwanted calls.

Lose the caps Sara and type like a normal person.   Upper cased typing is plumb stupid and makes it difficult for many to even read. And it adds nothing to your point.

The DNC is for Telemarketing companies.  (Telephone Sales of Goods or Services)  not any and all unwanted callers.
Debt collectors are exempt.   Scammers,  unknowns,  and unwanted,  the DNC does not apply.

It's really funny how many people come here and write like the person who calls them owns the website. You can write "Quit calling" and "Why are you calling me" all you want but this isn't the right place for it to be effective.

we just turned this number over to the Attorney General for making harrassing phone calls..Hopefully appropriate actions will be taken....

I received calls from this number approximately once a week looking to collect a debt from someone that is not me. I will contact the numbers listed by the OP and try to get them to remove my name.

My cell phone is not a fax machine. I was getting tired of the beep voicemails from 785-271-1117. Thank you to whoever started this post and to whoever listed 785-271-1117! I called their voice phone line and they said they'd remove my number from their fax list. We'll see what happens.

Received call from a live operator at 8:06 AM on 10/3/2008. I answered the phone and they were looking for me. I asked them who they were and they told me a name. They spoke it so fast that I didn't recognize the name. The name included collection agency. I informed them that since I hadn't received any correspondence from them - I wouldn't talk to them until I did receive correspondence from them. They said "OK." and then hung up. I think I have a permanent "Cease and Desist" all phone calls against them from several years ago.

IF THEY ARE CALLING THE WRONG NUMBER TELL THE AGENCY IMMEDIATELY THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF IT. IF YOU DON'T WANT AN AGENCY CALLING YOU & YOU KNOW YOU OWE THE BILL, THEN SEND THEM A LETTER  BY CERTIFIED MAIL STATING YOU WISH TO NO LONGER BE CONTACT BY THEM VIA PHONE. IF YOU DO THIS THEY CAN STILL PLACE THE ACCOUNT ON YOUR CREDIT OR WORSE YET SUE YOU FOR THE FULL AMOUNT DUE & THEN SOME. Didn't get a recorded message, got a gentleman calling himself "Mike Lake" who wouldn't tell me who or what the call was about.

This number calls me everyday to collect a debt from 5 years ago on a gas bill. KS Gas Service gave them my number after I moved and started new gas service, but I didn't live at the address they are trying to collect on at the time they're saying I did and KS Gas never contacted me to collect it. They won't send me a verification of debt or any kind of paperwork proving they are a real company. Today they left me a voicemail that said by listening to it I acknowledge the debt and claim responsibility for it.

BTW - I looked up KS statute of limitations on revolving accounts/debts and it is 3 years.

I just received a call from this number asking for someone who has never worked at my company.  They said this number was listed as a work number for that person.  They told me the company name and it is a similar sounding name compared to ours.  Sounds like they are just fishing around hoping to find who they are looking for.

I'm a female - got a call from them looking for a male by the same last name. Have no clue how they associated my address/cell-phone number with the guy they were looking for.

2 unknown/unwanted calls.  Believe this is a collection agency attempting to contact someone with similar name.  I am on the no-call list.
