Called looking for an ex brother in law who was never in the service. I told the caller I had no idea how to reach him, and he said "no problem" and hung up.

Received a call/voicemail form this number as well. Was on the up and up. Had been charged for medication related to a  Service Connected Disability medication. Had called the VA 2 weeks prior to inquiry about it and dispute the charges. Person calling from this number was calling to inform me the charge for the meds had been dismissed and not to worry about paying the bill.

This is  a legitimate number for outgoing calls on behalf of Myhealth.va.gov. I was working with them online and they were asked by me to get back to me. This is the line they used and it was the same person that I was working with. I was hesitant to answer because it was not in my contact list.........however, I'm glad I answered. They were very helpful.

This is a real phone number, coming out of the Department of Veteran's Affairs, Veteran's Health Administration.  It belongs to the call center located in Topeka, Kansas, operated out of Topeka, Kansas and Waco, Texas. The calls you are receiving are related to official Veteran's Affairs business.  It is both an inbound and outbound call center, depending on the program.  There are approximately 1100 VA employees between the two sites taking care of pharmacy customer care, first party billing and insurance benefits, help with the MyHealth.VA.gov website, "Welcome to VA" initial contacts for newly enrolled Veterans, among other programs.  These are not prank calls.

I received a call from this # today. Stating that they were in fact, the VA, and that they had fixed some medication charges. I dont think this is a scam #, considering I had called the VA about those charges 2 weeks ago. They gave me a reference # for my claim, and a 1(866) phone # to call if I had questions.

I work for the VA and we do make courtesy calls. Not the VA Medical Centers or CMOPS but the call centers do this. Secretary Shinseki requested we contact Veterans to thank them and make sure they are aware of their benefits since so many are unaware. It's an outreach program. Please don't judge all VA employees by a few bad experiences you've had. Many of us are Veterans or have lost, have current, or past military in our family and homes and respect those that have served as if they are our family. The VA will never call and ask for personal information and when in doubt, use the main number on the VA's site to call and explain the situation.

This appears to be a valid number.  We requested assistance on resetting of my password so I could look at my www.MyHealthevet.com page.  They were calling to assist us with that problem.

I received a call from the above listed number. It showed up on my Caller ID as "Unknown Name". When I attempted to call the number I got the recording, "Your call can not be completed as dialed. Please check the number and try again. Code 0214".

785-350-3800 is a valid no it is for va billing .called back they review your va billing charges.

This call would be from Topeka, kansas. the HRC as we call it the Health Resource Center which takes calls usually FROM vets who have questions about their eligibility, waivers, repay plans ,overpayments etc. it is an arm of the Dept of Veterans Affairs, now this division is called the CPAC, Consolidated patients Accounts Center, there are 7 CPACs in the US. Florida, Tenessee, pennsylvania, Wisconsin,Kansas,las vegas . they are legitmate.

I received a call from this number.  For me it was legitimate. I was having issues logging on to my "Health Page" on the VA website.  After I sent an email, hey replied via email wih a possible solution.  It did not work so I replied and asked to be contacted, a couple of hours later, a call from this number came in.

Received a call today from this number.  It is legitimate.  It was placed by a representative of www.MyHealthevet.com, a medical website for the VA.  However, other VA representatives might be using the same trunkline.  This is not a scam.

This is a legitimate number. I am a vet and had talked with them before. I received my VA package in the mail from them as  expected. This is for women VETS. They helped me get an appointment, when I had been having an issue getting one. This lady caller was very helpful.

I got a call from this number.  They called me by my maiden name, a name I have not had for 24 years and they pronounced it wrong.  I told them to take my name off the list and dont insult vets and hung up.  I have recently set up vet prefernce on the government website and USAJobs.  I think I am goint to give them a call.

NOT TRUE! They may ask information such as your birth date to verify who you are. Your birth date is not a secret to ANYONE! You people are WAY to paranoid!

I actually waded through several layers of the VA's phone numbers from their website and this IS a valid number for the Women's Health team in Topeka, KS. They are trying to reach women vets... ALL women vets and not just recent ones. It took a few phone calls to get to a live person, but it was worth it. They are trying to track which outgoing calls/messages get responses to better understand what works, & what doesn't. (I used to do the same thing with real estate ads & different extensions.) So, please, in this case help yourself and track down a live body at the VA to verify the number/message -- at least until the VA gets smart enough to list these numbers on their webpage so we can search there.. or find it with an internet search!

This is a legitimate call. I spoke to them last night and I too was skeptical so I asked the caller several questions and was transferred to a supervisor who was willing to give me her full name and challenged me to contact the local VA office to verify her employment with the VA. They also gave me the contact info for my local case worker and after speaking to her this morning I am certain this was a legitimate call. They did ask for my ssn on the call and I was so comfortable on the initial call that I gave it to them which caused me to panic thinking I messed up. I was also freaked out because they had my cell phone number, which is also on the DNC etc, but they explained the DOD supplies that info. I am not sure how the DOD got it, but it is the government. I guess they have their ways.  FYI I was in the service from 92-95 and never have used the local VA although I have a service connected disability.  This call came to me at a great time and with great benefit. If you have doubts do what I did and ask more questions like I did. You may be pleasantly surprised that there are benefits that you are entitled to that you previously have not taken advantage of.

I received another call from this number today.  I was able to confirm that it is a trunkline at the VA.  Any one of a number of callers from the VA could be acccessing it.  The call actually came from another number at the VA (My HealtheVet), which was routed through this number.  I no longer think its a crank call.  If you have business with the local VA, the call could be related to that.

I received a call from (785) 350-3800 today.  The call came in on my cellphone.  I did not anwser.  No message left on my voice mail.  I called the number from a different phone and was told the number is not in service.  Regardless of whom is making the call, the fact that no message was left and my call back indicated that the number is not in service is enough to make me suspicious.  It is odd that the VA would be calling me to alert me about VA benefits.  I deal with the VA on a regular basis.  I don't need anyone calling me to explain my benefits.  If I need information, I call the VA at (800) 827-1000 or go on line.  The only time the VA would be calling me would be to return my call and they would certainly leave a message on my voice mail with a legitimate call back number.  Be careful!

got a call from this number and from 785-350-3805 a few minutes apart. 3805 number turned out to be a fax line when I called back. My son answered the call from 3800, caller claimed to be from women's vet. I called the 3800 number and recording says this number has been disconnected.

For me, this was a legitimate call, the HelpDesk for the MyHealthVA (computer access for vets to their records). The 785 is their internal (call-out only #) &  they provided me with the correct 877 # for me to call back. Their call was responding to my inquiry the day before.

I just revied a call today from 785-350-38003 (yes there is an extra number!!!) and a live person let me know that she was calling with the VA and that the call was being recorded.  While she had my name correct she had an address on file for me that I've never lived at, correct city and state but wrong numeric and street address.  She wanted to explain VA benefits however I requested that she mail me the information instead.  I also questioned if this was turely the VA or a thrid party solicitor; she asured me that she was with the VA and name the city and state (forgot).  I will wait to see what arrives in the mail...

caller left a vm on my cell stating she was calling on behalf of VA and wanted to discuss women vets' benefits with me, using my maiden name.  left a "1-800" call back #.  I am a vet, but like other posters, am suspicious of this call.

I got a call from this number today 78535038004, telling me to call to find out about veteran benefits at 18664001237.

After looking at the VA.gov website it says to call 1-800-827-1000 for information about benefits.  Based upon this information I would say it's some type of scam.  Just my 2 cents I will not call them back from a number that is not listed.

If you are OIF/OEF then call 1-866-400-1237 and let them know you have an issue. They are the VA and more than happy to help. You can get to them by calling the 1-877-222-8387 number, but this is direct to them.

i assure you we are with the dept of vet affairs. we work in the hrc or health resource center in topeka kansas.  verizon cant seem to put the 1866 400 1237 and our local number from topeka call center. the number is setup up for only out bound calls only. thats why we give the number to call back. we are a call center.

This company called my phone looking for my wife. Claimed to be VA womens benefits. Said they got my number from DOD. I called back the number they gave me and the person picked up said it was some kind of hospital. Seems shady cause my number is on do not call and they used her previous married name. My wife says VA has her current name on file. Suspect scammer.

I was called by this entity caller ID says Veterans Affairs. The perpetrator is using a FAKE caller ID!!
