I rcv'd a call from them as well.while Justin Murphy attempted to read an affadavit I cut him off quickly stating that if this concerned a payday loan that I didn't receive then he was wasting his time bc I was aware that it was a scam n that I was aware of the scare tactics they used to get ppl to pay. Ppl listen to me I work for a validation of debt comp and 95% of internet lenders are fake. You can borrow money and never repay if that's what you so choose.  Just a tidbit of info. Do NOT LET THEM SCARE YOU!! IT'S ALL A SCAM!!

Just received a call from "Justin Murphy" saying I was going to be arrested. How does an Indian man have a name like that? This is the 3rd time I have received a call from someone saying the same thing. Supposedly I am going to be arrested for not paying back a loan I received from Cash USA. I have never received any loans, and am going to look into this so called Cash USA. If they are legit, I am going to let them know that people are using their name for fraudulent purposes. I wish I could find a way to file harrassment charges on these people that have called. The first call I received was from an attourney named Adam Garcia, and he wanted me to pay $713 or I would be arrested. When I looked it up, and found out it was a scam I called him back. His Indian accent changed to mexican, and all he did was say f you to me over and over. These childish scammers have to be stopped!

on 4/29/13 this person called my cell and my work number and left messages - stated his name is Austin Jones with Hotline Davidson Pierce - attorney of record. I called this person back on 4/30 - and told him to never call my work again - asked for the physical address of this place - he hung up. I called back and got busy signals, kept calling and got another person - asked for the address - he gave me "Swain Law Office, 2311 Wakarusa Dr, Lawrence, KS 66047" - I had a feeling this was not their address - asked for more information - hung up on me again - kept calling and this Austin Jones person answered - I told him he better not call me again - that I knew he was not with Swain - I had called them and confirmed they stated this is a scam and these people are using their name and address - this Austin person who is middle eastern told me and I quote "listen bi*** I will f*** you up" and hung up. I have been calling all day and now get a busy signal - this person threatened me - this person is calling my place of employment. He is not even a citizen and he can and has gotten away with this for at least 2 years if you google the # and look at the "did someone call you from this number". Why are these non-citizens allowed to do this? He has my information - my checking, social security, drivers license, home address - how safe do you think I feel? I cannot afford for someone to steal my identity or take money out of my account that I do not have. This is disgusting.

this is a scam - they are giving out a law firms name if you call them back and harass them as they are harassing us - say they are with a law firm in Lawrence, KS.  I called the law firm and they have reported them to the Lawrence Police Department - I called them back and told them to stop - this Austin Jones guy (middle eastern obviously using a FAKE name) told ME to stop calling and harassing them "bi*** I fill f_ck you up"

I also received this call saying they are gonna get a warrant for my arrest. But if its a loan dont that just go towards collection? I also went to the police department and they even told me it was a scam. Maybe be a hard line but still a scam. Plus when i told them no they got all angry towards me, if you was a law firm thats bad customer service.

Received a similar call from a slightly different number... DO NOT FALL FOR IT.  They make it sound scary because they are trying to get your money.

From the FBI's "e-scams" website: http://www.fbi.gov/scams-safety/e-scams

New Variation on Telephone Collection Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

02/21/12?The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) continues to receive complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. As previously reported in December 2010, the typical payday loan scam involves a caller who claims the victim is delinquent on a payday loan and must make payment to avoid legal consequences.

Callers pose as representatives of the FBI, ?Federal Legislative Department,? various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies and claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, or other Internet check-cashing services. The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment in attempts to obtain payment. The callers refuse to provide information regarding the alleged payday loan or any documentation and become verbally abusive when questioned.

The IC3 has observed variations of this scam in which the caller tells the victim that there are outstanding warrants for the victim?s arrest. The caller claims that the basis of the warrants is non-payment of the underlying loan and/or hacking. If it?s the latter, the caller tells the victim that he or she is wanted for hacking into a business? computer system to steal customer information. The caller will then demand payment via debit/credit card; in other cases, the caller further instructs victims to obtain a prepaid card to cover the payment.

The high-pressure collection tactics used by the fraudsters have also evolved. In one recent complaint, a person posed as a process server and appeared at the victim?s job. In another instance, a phony process server came to a victim?s home. In both cases, after claiming to be serving a court summons, the alleged process server said the victim could avoid going to court if he or she provided a debit card number for repayment of the loan.

If you are contacted by someone who is trying to collect a debt that you do not owe, you should:

   Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger;
   Contact your bank(s) and credit card companies;
   Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file;
   If you have received a legitimate loan and want to verify that you do not have any outstanding obligation, contact the loan company directly;
   File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.

A Denver news station did an article on it too: http://denver.cbslocal.com/2012/08/18/aggress ... ool-on-victims/

This is a known scam. They are calling me too. None of them speak good english. They claim to be a law firm and that you have taken out a payday loan and didn't pay it back. But if you give the your bank account numbers you can pay half today and not need a lawyer or be arrested. Once you say I have never taken out a payday loan, I know this is a scam and am contacting the FBI, they quit calling.

I got this call yesterday around 4pm, said his name was John Smith and left me a voice mail (which I still have) stating that it was urgent I or my attorney, return this call and if I didn't call back he wished my luck in my future endeavors.  Very hard to understand.  Then they called my work number, when I said I knew nothing about this he transferred me to another man that said he was going to read me something and I was not to interrrupt him while he was reading.....It was about how I committed fraud and theft cause I got money from a pay day loan and never repaid them.....I interrupted him by stating...all my accounts were up to date, he read me my SSN, DLN, address, place of employment and knew which bank I did my banking with.  He said I was going to be arrested today at 11am and asked if I had ever been arrested before, wouldnl't tell me which payday loan company, just that the name American Cash came up and they are the clearing house for 700 payday loan companies.  All of a sudden I said this is a bunch of bull**** and he yelled it is not bull and you will find out tomorrow and hung up on me.

They called me yesterday, saying that I was going to be arrested today at 11:00am for fraud.  Very hard to understand, said I took out a loan and haven't paid it back.  Said I was going to get fired from my job and be arrested and held for 10-12 days in jail and they were going to report me to the Attorney General's Office.  The voice mail says that it was urgent for me to return this call otherwise there is nothing they can do and if I did not call the only thing he could do was wish me the best of luck in my endeavors......Then they called my work number and when I said I didn't know anything I was transferred to another guy that said he was going to read something to me and while he is reading I am not to interrupt him....well needless to say I was shocked and kept interrupting him and suddenly yelled this is bull**** and he yelled back this is not bull and I will find out tomorrow and hung up on me.

These people, who don't speak very good english, called me and said that I was going to be in big trouble if I didn't contact them within a certain amount of time.  They continue to call from various numbers both my home and my work number.  I wish the phone companies would shut them down.  I don't know how they can allow something like that to continue.
