My mother got this call. Fortunately, she just hung up. I like the idea of keeping them on the line for as long as possible to tie them up and keep them unproductive. B*****ds!

I received a call today.  I have no clue how they would have my number or why I was targeted.  I asked them which credit card they were associated with and they immediately hung up.  I really did not know if this was some sort of a scam to get my identity.  That is why I googled the telephone number (out of Florida) as a matter of fact and read the existing post.

This is a sophisticated fraud ring that tricks called parties into giving-out their credit card info. The pitch is that you can receive a reduced interest rate on your existing credit cards. Once they have your credit card # they make a "card not present" transactions (anything you could buy on the Internet or by phone; the merchant never sees your actual credit card) or they stamp their own plastic and go shopping. The ring is sophisticated because: 1) they are likely able to stamp fake credit cards; 2) they use an automated system to screen and queue called parties, which both improves the crime syndicates efficiency and lends an air of legitimacy to the phone call. The only way to catch these kinds of crime rings is to report what little data you can capture from to the US government's Do Not Call Registry. Here is the link: www.donotcall.gov/

"Lower your credit card rate to 6.9%. Offer expires soon. Press 9 now." Stupidly, I did. (Why I don't know ... ) Male answered. I asked from what credit card company he was calling, and he hung up on me immediately. I hope that I didn't unwittingly trigger any transfer of information by having pressed 9 in the first place. PLEASE, SOMEBODY, STOP THESE SCAMMERS!!

I received the same call 8-20-2009 at 8:08PM.  Same message as one I received on 8-5-2009 only that was from 773-000-0000!  I report all of these calls to the Do Not Call Registry, not that it probably does any good since it seems these companies can pretty much operate at will with no law enforcement interference.

I got this call Sat.at noon I don't answer the phone to calls I can't I.D. first. This call left a voice mail. The voice mail was someone breathing. I traced the call to a Florida number and then to this information. I believe I have received a voice mail regarding some kind of bogus interest rate business not long ago.

This number calls on occasion and it's the same recording left on voice mail that they can lower all credit card APR's which we all no is just a scam to try and get information from us.  I personally don't even answer their calls, they come up on caller id and are so obvious that I don't know them or want to know them so I guess they just waste their own time and resources and they never will get anything from me.

Received automated call on 04-05-09 advising me that this is my "final notice" to be qualified for a 6.9% interest rate on my VISA or MasterCard charge cards - instructed to push "9" to speak with a representative.  Caller ID showed "Florida Call" and 786-000-6439.

A heavily Indian accented male voice came on the line and gave me some real nonsense about eligibility for a 6.9% rate on my credit cards. I say "nonsense" because this particular person from "Card Services" (there must be a thousand of such companies in existence) kept repeating that there would be NO CHARGE to me for entering into this program - "Card Services" made its money from the interest rate reduction!!!  He was quite adamant that I would pay no fee/charge for this service.

I was then put on with his "supervisor", a female with a similar Indian accent.  Over and over I tried to get a straight answer as to how "Card Services" made its money if I wasn't charged a fee and the bank issuing the credit card reduced its rate from 17% (a random number I picked out) to 6.9%.  How did they get paid?  A simple question, but always the same "scripted" and nonsensical response...from the rate reduction!!

It was like pulling teeth out of this "supervisor" who very reluctantly (and obviously inaccurately) first gave me "Ohio" as their state of location and after much more prodding gave me "Cleveland" as the city.  She would absolutely not divulge any more information - no phone number, no address, nothing...either being "company policy" or the "law".

I have been through "Card Services" or some close variant scores of times during the past couple of years.  I haven't the faintest idea why I am targeted and/or why "company" records don't show me as an "unlikely" candidate!!!

These folks have obviously become smarter as they clearly manipulate the incoming Caller ID.  Like most of us recipients, we just don't have the time to seek redress from the legal system, so I do one of three things: (a) never answer, (b) answer and hang up during the recorded message or (c) if I am feeling particularly irritated by these calls, I hang on for a representative and see just how long I can stay on the line with them - thereby wasting their time (I'm doing things while I talk with them, so not all of my time is wasted).  They really keep track of the time because at one point the female mentioned to me that she had been on the line with me for 25 minutes (and she was quite accurate).

I pulled a few more tricks and then let it go at 30+ minutes.  At least I have the satisfaction of tying up a representative for a half-hour...time during which she was completely unproductive!

If anyone has any good ideas of what Federal or State agency or law-enforcement agency to call and complain about these calls, you'd be doing a lot of people a tremendous favor by sharing that information.
