Trying to find out who owns this phone number.

I just received a call with the exact same scenario

I received a call from someone who said she was my granddaughter.  She said she was in Panama and was in a car accident and broke her nose.  She needed $2800 to pay for the rental car.  She did not want to tell her parents and wanted me to send her the money.  I told her I could not do that and she should tell her parents.  She said she would call me back and let me know how things go.  Of course I don't expect to here from her again.

Grandson who just returned from Afghanistan was in Panama in an accident and needed $2800.00 to repair car and had a broken nose.  After sending the money I realized it was a scam when I asked him for his mother's maiden name and the name of his brother.  I stopped payment and received all my money back when he couldn't answer my questions and before they picked up the money.

BEWARE!!!

My mom called me today, saying she got a call from my son in Barcelona, Spain. Same story, car accident, broken nose needed money. She knew he didn't even have a passport, much less the money to travel overseas. Her caller ID showed the same:

Complete scam, I heard about this 5-10 yrs ago on 20/20 or some show like that.\
Warn your parents/granparents... they just try to prey on sympathetic elderly folks

My mom got a call saying the name of one of her grandkids and that he was in another country and got into a car accident and wanted $4000.  She asked him several questions and the last one he gave a vulgar response.  This call is out of Florida, from a Paetec Communications company, Broadwing communications, the phone said BK Agencie.

caller said "grandma,I need $200. I was just in an accident and broke my nose and I don't want to tell my parents.
