I received this same letter by fax this morning.  This letter was "signed" by Jeff Radebe whom, after Googling, I found out is South Africa's Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development.  Obviously, poor Mr. Radebe's name is being used by someone to try and steal money or whatever. I sincerely hope no one gets involved in this scam.  It's great to have websites that we can all go to in order to keep up with the latest scams. Good luck people!

Oh, you see, my Fred Buther is a Canadian. That was a quick transfer of nationalities, especially since the guy is dead. If you are going to be a liar, you have to be a good one. This guy doesn't have it. Darn. I was hoping to get 50% of $34 million. Hope has been abandoned, as it was with the Nigerian Lottery and the German Lottery and the Danish Lottery and ....

Jeez, you guys are nasty! Here is some poor person, grossly misused by society, trying to get back on his feet, and you are putting him down like this. I am ashamed of you. I am intending to mortgage my house and send the proceeds to this poor, unfortunate man. Actually, mine isn't Charles Taylor or Mrs. Taylor. Mine is Jeff Radebe. He is currently the Justice Minister in South Africa.  But it's still Fred Buther, the Canadian. Radebe, huh? Sounds like a person of color to me. It's going to be difficult to convince people I am his next of kin when I'm white. On second thoughts, maybe I won't mortgage the house after all. I'll wait until Hell freezes and this pimple on the rectal orifice of the human race can do the same.

I reaceived one today about Fred Buther from Jeff Radebe. South Africa bank again, but says Mr. Buther is a USA citizen.  "I have all the secret details and necessary contacts..."

just got a fax from 27-862717451 but said his fax is 27115075344 a real hoax they think people are stupid or what help get funds out of south africa

YEP THE FAX FROM THE PHOENIX MEDIA LTD. METHINK  THE SCAMMER MADE SOME MISTAKE HERE. LET THE COPS GO GET THE OWNER OF SUCH COMPANY IN NIGERIA MAYBE HE LIVES IN SOUTH AFRICA. HE IS OPEN METHINK

Do we have any means to retaliate against this scam?

I got a fax from the same number this morning, but from a dude named Jeff Levenstein in South Africa. In the story, one with everything from greed, graft, and international intrique, a rich Canadia named Fred Buther died and his mine is in forclosure in S.A. Levenstein wants, of all things, my partnership getting the funds out of the country. All I need to do is let him make me next of kin to this dead guy. "This is legal and we propose 50-50% sharing pattern once the fund is trasferred to your acccount."

Received the fax this morning - 34 Million needs distributing.  The letter is not on letter head stationary, a must for any financial institution.  There are grammatical errors, run on sentences, improper punctuation, capitalization errors, spacing errors, and on-and-on.  Any normal human being can see through this scam.  But, of course, there are those out there that are not quite normal I guess.  And, of course, if I were a bank and I was going to distribute 34 million to a relative of Mr. Fred Butler, I would probably take the time to make sure the person receiving the money could prove they were a relative, don't you.

A reply should state:  Will proceed with your offer but I will need 10% Assurance Money up front before I provide you with my personal information.

Ain't Idi dead or did Miss Cleo channel him back to life.

I got a fax yesterday morning.  This time from Jeff Levenstein asking for help because his bank was liquidated.  Oh well, it looks like Jeffery is going to have to have his legs broken for losing Mr. Buther's money.

Do Not Call is not working.  It is a major scam.

So funny!  Yep, Got the missive from "Jeff Levenstein", a typical surname from Zaire, informing me of this important situation.  So I sent "him" the following email and bcc'd a few people at the address I gave him.

Hello Mr. Jeff Levenstein,

I am the assistant director of the Fat Boys Institute, Philadelphia Branch and saw your fax about Mr. Buther?s estate.  I can?t tell you how perfect this would be for our institute.  As you know, obesity in America is a terrible problem and it kills many adults each year.  Also, America?s children are obese even at such young ages.  We at the Fat Boys Institute help these children by showing them real-life examples of how obesity affects all people in a family and how it can hurt their parents as well as themselves.  We do this with concentrated curricula that focus on eating properly; making life changes that will stop obesity and plenty of hands-on field trips to American fast-food venues for lunch.  These venues are the leading cause of childhood obesity; one could even say the Super-Sized reason.

Im at work and i just got that same fax.  I looked it up because you could tell that someone was up to no good. Im glad someone else has gotten this same one

New scam sent today march 6, 2011 by fax  sent from #27-8627717451. Wants reply faxed to# 27115075168 and email address is jeff@regalsa.co.za.Looking to make you a next of kin to MR FRED BUTHER to collect money . Total scam lots of spelling mistakes.  Please forward this on face book and social media to protect the people dumb enough to believe in a free ride.

Received junk fax from a Jeff Levenstein on behalf of a Mr. Fred Buthers to make me his next of kin.  What a piece of crap!

These f****ng a***oles sent this fax to my home number early in the morning and wok up my family (we have young children).  If this came from North America I would raise such hell with this s****eads, it's too bad they're in Africa where the law doesn't exist.

Someone's got to shut these a***oles down.  I'm sick and tired of scammers trying to screw people over all the time -- usually only the good people get ripped off too because the bad people recognize it and know to steer clear of these things at the drop of the first few words.

Something has to be done.  There are too many of these jerks.

I recieved a fax just now from "Charles Taylor" (Jr) sayin he had 177 million in a bank and needed my assistance. I think it is just pretty funny to read. Who would fall for this

My company in British Columbia, Canada received a fax on 17Sep10 from 27-862717451 from Mrs. Victoria Taylor; her fax # is "+27115075168" and email address is victoria@freepresidenttaylor.org. The letter states the dollar amount as $60 million promising 15% for assistance in claiming funds.  Also asks for "1)Your Surname(2)Other Names(3)Private Telephone and Fax Number(3)Office or Home Address" and implores reader to hold this transaction in utmost secrecy.
