Got a call also from this woman. I was in a car accident, nobody was hurt. She was trying to tell me to sue the insurance company and I could get $10,000. Even after I told her I was not hurt, she insisted that I may feel pain later and I should take action now. I told her this is whiy people have to pay so much for car insurance on bogus claims like this. These people are just trying to make money for themselves. It's sickening!

I got a call from this person too. They are an Attorney referral service. I told them I didn't need anything like that and she, "Ok, disregard this call" and hung up.

hopefully this is the last I hear from them

Wow.  I think this lady is in serious violation of some ethics and possibly some rules regarding solicitation.  If your number is on the National No-Call list, then they should not be calling you, period, regardless of whether you may have legal issues or not.  That's the thing; my number is on the no-call list, and they're still calling me.  But this lady's phone call takes the cake.  I can't believe how rude she was to me, and she must know that she is in some sort of violation because any time that I inquired about who she was or where she was calling from, she hung up on me.  Would you mind explaining the basics of what she said to you when she called?

Yes, just received this phone call on my cell phone as well.  I have tried to look it up as I have no idea who this is that has obtained my cell number.  No reason for me to have any legal or others calling me.

I keep receiving phone calls that are border-line harassing from this phone number.  I was in class the first time this woman called, so after my class, I noticed that she had left me a voicemail.  Her message said that she was calling about something personal (she did state specifically the incident, but in order to preserve anonymity, I prefer not to disclose that information here), and given the fact that I was expecting a phone call from a doctor's office regarding this same matter, I thought maybe it was someone calling from there, so I called the number back.

When I called back, she did not bother to state the office or location from which she was calling, bu instead jumped right into asking very probing questions about personal and confidential information regarding an incident that happened a few months ago.  When I asked her who she worked for and what office she was calling from, her only response was, "I'm calling from Florida."  Okay, I can gather that she is calling from somewhere in Florida since the prefix of the number is 786.  That tells me virtually nothing.

I then specifically asked her if she was working for a law office (as I have been receiving this type of solicitous phone call routinely from others), and she hinted that she was, so I told her that I thought her questions were inappropriate and asked her what law office she was working for and if she would please remove my name from the calling list, but she mumbled something rude and hung up on me right in the middle of my sentence.  Later that evening, I received another phone call from this woman and she was asking me the same probing questions as she had earlier.  I reminded her that we had spoken briefly earlier that day, and I again asked her which law firm she was working for, and again, she hung up on me without answering my question.

The next day, a friend of mine called this lady's number from her phone anonymously and, long story short, she found out that this woman does NOT work for an attorney, but instead is working for an attorney referral service.  An attorney referral service is not in itself illegal.  However, I do not believe it is in accordance with the law to pry about this kind of confidential information without so much as disclosing who you are, who you work for, or the purpose of your call.

Aside from the fact that my phone number is on the national do-not-call list, I had asked this woman to remove me from her calling list as well, and she did not.  She was very rude, her manner was distasteful, and her methods were not in accordance with the law.  If that isn't bad enough, the voicemail she had left me the first time she called indicated that it was an urgent matter and that I needed to return her call ASAP, which is completely bogus, not to mention misleading, and again, not in accordance with the law.

I have been trying to trace this number to find out exactly who this number is registered to so that I can report this incident, but unfortunately, I have not been successful in that endeavor.  Please bear in mind that these so-called "runners" and attorney referral services may be giving individuals' phone numbers to hundreds or even thousands of others, which can increase a victim's daily bogus phone calls exponentially.  Also keep in mind that one should never disclose any sort of personal information without knowing why or whether that information will be kept confidential, and that said information may or may not be used to harm one in the future.  Bottom line, know who is calling you before you answer anything personal, and if and when you do find out who is calling you and asking probing personal information, report that person because it is not okay to do this.  At the very least, it is unethical and purposefully takes advantage of people who are unaware of their rights as citizens.

I was just wondering if anyone else has received calls from this number or knows how to find out to whom a number is registered.  I did try looking up the phone number, but all it said was that it was a personal number (not a landline) and that the name could not be listed.  The lady did tell me her name, but seeing as how I am not even sure if that is her real name, nor do I want to be a hypocrite by disclosing one's personal information, I prefer not to divulge.  However, if anyone has any information about whose registered number this really is or what "referral service" this woman works for, that would be very helpful.  Thanks!
