Caller ID said "Not IN Use"
That was a dead giveaway
stuessy texas 2013-08-07 20:09:02 Unknown
Received the same call yesterday from 786-358-6691. Caller ID reads Not In Use. Said they were
sending new Medicare cards and they wanted our bank info. I don't think so was our reply.

Got card about going to get new medicare cards wanting bank information hung up the phone
Fed Up 2013-08-06 22:13:20 Unknown
My wife got a call today from a man that could barely speak english doing the same thing others have reported. Wants to send her a new medicare card but needed to know which bank we used for verfication. Fortunately she was smart enough to tell him it wasn't any of his business and hung up on him. With all our modern technology, it seems like these low down scums who target the elderly could be located and burried in some hole somewhere and forgotten for the trash they are.

Just got the call from the Indian man. I hung up when he said he was with medicare. Reported it to Medicare and Social Security.

Mike, with an Indian accent said he was with Medicare and we would be receiving new Medicare cards.
I cut him off and told him and told him he should already have my info. He hung up.

The Phone rings and No one answers-- How do you stop this CRAP???
Maggie 2013-08-06 14:55:47 Unknown
I keep getting calls from this telephone number. Is there any way to stop these calls?
RETIRED POLICE OFFICER 2013-08-05 21:59:36 Unknown
THIS IS JUST ONE OF MANY ILLEGAL SCAMS TO GET PERSONAL INFORMATION. I CHECKED THE CALLING NUMBER, AND, IT IS A SCAM OPERATION NO MATTER WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING TO THE CONTRARY! IN FACT MY CALLER ID SHOWED "NOT IN USE." IF THAT'S NOT A CLUE FOR A SCAM OPERATION, WHAT IS?
EK 2013-08-05 16:05:16 Unknown
Same scam. Got the call from 786-358-6691... woman with very thick accent... said she was with Social Security and wanted me to verify my name, addy and phone number, which she read to me... okay... that's public info. Then she wanted my bank name name and, when I refused saying due to scams and I would not give it to her, she said that I would loose my Medicare coverage. I don't like threats so I hung up. She called right back. I told her to put something in the mail and she said she would. Yeah... right. During the basically one way "conversations" she was rude and belligerent.. I reported this call to the local sheriff's dept to be included in the next sheriff's newspaper scam alerts.
I agree... why can't these known scammers be shut down? After all, NSA must have all the needed info on them to prosecute.

We never answer calls when we do not know the caller therefore, did not pick up the phone and no message was left.
kitten 2013-08-02 21:31:14 Unknown
The ID was "not in use" - what the heck does that mean? Bunch of crooks preying on innocent folks.
Barb 2013-08-02 20:40:43 Unknown
I just got a call from a woman with a thick accent, stating she was calling regarding new medicare cards. She asked is my name was correct, which she mispronounced, and asked if my address and phone number were correct, and I said yes. They she said to confirm who I was, she needed the name of the bank I used. I told her it was none of her business, and I would NOT give her any more information. she hung up

Let your answering machine blot out this scam.
Dee 2013-08-01 19:13:31 Telemarketer
This is an outrageous intrusion and obviously fraudulant. Surely there must be a way of blocking such people from continuing their preying on unknowing people. There should be a public warning.
Patjo 2013-07-31 20:57:02 Unknown
Received a call from this number, but did not answer. I believe this scam was featured in the latest issue of the AAR P Magazine. I think this is an identity theft scheme. Report it to SS or the FBI.

So these people called my Dad, same as above and this right on the heels of my Mom's passing. I have no idea what kind of SCUM these people are preying on the elderly as they do, but the story is the same. They said something about it was for Medicare and he was getting something or other in the mail then asked for his bank info, ss#, etc. Luckily he hung up on them or they him when he refused to give anything out. The caller sounded foreign he said, though he couldn't say from where. They should get an investigative reporter to trace down that very boiler room and ask these people how they'd feel if it was done to them. So sick. As they said in "Dumb & Dumber" - "who ARE these people?"

I just got the same call only this time he wanted my Medicare banking info. Why can't the telephone companies block these known offenders?
M McClelland 2013-07-30 16:27:33 Unknown
I received a phone call from an East Indian male who said he was with Social Security and that they were going to be mailing out new Medicare cards. He knew my name, my address and obviously my phone number and then he asked for my bank information. I said "GOOD BYE" Who do I report this to locally.

My mother's death announcement was posted in the newspaper, and a call was received from this number that morning. When I responded that she was not available, they hung up.

Just got a call from someone with a strong Indian accent and a very English name (obviously a fake). He said he was from Medicare and that I and the members of my family would be receiving a new Medicare card. When I asked why I would receive a new card, he hung up.
We need a "call type" for scam. None of the categories seem to fit this type of cheater call.

Received call from 786-358-6691 Not In Use according to caller ID. Foreign voice (sounded Hispanic) said calling from Medicare and were sending me new card. Had my name, address and telephone number. Wanted the name of my bank for verification purposes. Asked why. Kept saying for verification purposes only. After me asking why they need that for verification 4 times they finally hung up. I then contacted Medicare (1-800-633-4227). Gave them all info. The call WAS NOT from Medicare. They then gave me number (1-877-382-4357) to report this to Federal Trade Communication Center. Talked to them, gave them all info and they gave me a reference number then gave me number for Attorney General so I could file complaint with them as well. Will have to do that tomorrow since they are only there from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. I suggest anyone getting these calls do the same thing. Maybe if enough people file complaints these people will be found and prosecuted.
Caller: Not in Use (on called ID)

My mother in law just got the same call! They even read her a routing number that matched her banks and said they just needed the rest. The bank advised she close her acct and open a new one. Definite Scam!
