This number is from the Children's Cancer Dream Network, apparently one of a number of "charities" that is operated by the "National Cancer Assistance Foundation" of Sarasota, Fl. While they technically may be legit, apparently a minicule percentage of their fundraising goes to help people.

Here's part of a BBB article:

Michelle L. Corey, BBB president and CEO, said the IRS reports raise serious concerns about the effectiveness of the charities.

?We feel it is critical for donors to know just how much of their contributions are going for a charity?s programs and how much is going for overhead expenses like fundraising costs and officials? salaries and benefits,? Corey said. ?When most of a charity?s income is used to pay fundraising costs, consumers have to ask whether that charity is the best place for their money.?

The charities with ties to Precision Performance Marketing are:
?National Cancer Assistance Foundation of Sarasota, Fla., which operates the programs Breast Cancer Assistance Fund, Children?s Cancer Assistance Fund and Children?s Cancer Dream Network.
?Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation of Schereville, Ind.
?Disabled Police Officers Counseling Center of Niceville, Fla.
?Child Crisis Network of Pompano Beach, Fla.
?Children With Hairloss of South Rockwood, Mich., which operates Children?s Sunshine Network.
?Circle of Friends for American Veterans of Falls Church, Va.
?Child Watch of North America of Orlando, Fla.

All of the charities signed contracts with Precision Performance Marketing.

Five years ago, Precision Performance Marketing was at the center of a controversy that led to the resignation of David J. Lovell, founder and president of the Kirkwood charity Reach Our Children. Board members of Reach Our Children said at that time that Lovell never told them that his wife was a co-owner of Precision Performance Marketing, which had been paid $3 million to assist Reach Our Children with fundraising from 2003 to 2005.

Missouri secretary of state records show that Michael R. Confalone of Ballwin has been president of Precision Performance Marketing since its formation in 2003. Until recently, David Lovell?s wife, Nancy, was vice president. In April 2010, David Lovell replaced his wife in that position.

Jim Judge, director of the BBB's Charity Information Service, said IRS records for several of the charities tied to Precision Performance Marketing indicate only a small amount of past contributions have gone to programs the charities were set up to help.
?Disabled Police Officers Counseling Center reported total contributions of $562,000 in its 2008 IRS 990 report, the most cent available. Of that, $478,000 went to pay fundraising expenses. The charity said about $66,000 of that total went to its charitable programs, or about 12 percent. Of that, about $14,800 went to counseling, less than 3 cents of every dollar contributed.
?National Cancer Assistance Foundation reported contributions of about $405,000 in 2009, with $367,000 of that total going to pay independent contractors.  The charity reported that $44,000 went to program services, or about 11 cents of each dollar donated.
?Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation reported contributions of about $1.2 million in 2009, with nearly $1.1 million of that raised through Infocision, a telemarketing company, and Precision Performance Marketing. Of the approximately $877,000 raised by Infocision, nothing went to the charity. Of the $203,000 raised through Precision Performance Marketing, about $38,000, or 19 cents of each dollar, went to the charity.  The total for both contracts was about 3½ cents for each dollar raised.

This caller keeps calling..."CDN Thanks You".  I won't answer the phone for any number I don't know.  WHY shouldI HAVE to do this????  We too, are on the "Do Not Call" list...it is useless!!!  The person that is doing the calling, may be just doing their job...but I refuse to answer these!  Even if you do...no one is there, or they hang up...and never leave a message!  I am so sick of this garbage, it makes me want to pull the phone out of the wall...and throw it through a window!  It will never stop...there is nothing anyone WILL do about it!

Caller ID says CDN Thanks You. They're just one of many calls I receive throughout the day from these illegitimate telemarketing miscreants in spite of being registered on the DNC list. It's gotten so that you have to treat every phone call with a number you don't recognize as a scam or an attempt to steal your identity. The FTC's Do Not Call list is useless, powerless and ineffective. Does the FTC really believe that a criminal intent on stealing your information could care less about a "Do Not Call" list? And there's really no way to report them to the FTC if you can't get their business name or a real phone number.

So, what's the point of being on the Do Not Call list?

Two calls today, 9:22 AM then again at 9:56 AM, 34 minutes later!  I don't know where these people are getting their calling list.  Suspect it's by illegitimate means since two people at my address have first names beginning with the same letter, so there was one call for each.  From prior complaints here, they know your name.  Calls for legitimate things like airline flight time changes come within half an hour of each other for these two residents (the airline autodialer calls alphabetically), so I'm assuming this was the case with this sham charity.  Has anyone receiving these calls donated to religious organizations?  That's on the top of my list of where I suspect they're getting our numbers from, as my number has been the same for over 30 years with no decedents.

cancer dream network, displays as cdn thanks you, 786-358-6985. They are calling for someone long deceased. Phone numbers get recycled, so it's the previous owners name. They aquired some very old data they are using in their call list. Told them first couple times they called to put our number on their in house do not call list. They obviously make no attempt to follow the law. Par for the course for a sleazy business claiming to be a charity. Won't say they are a non-profit organization, they keep too much money acccording to basic research to be called not for profit. They are all about keeping most of the money. Label them a sleazy telemarketer.

We get these calls, someone actually is on the other side but they need to speak to a adult.  At first I thought it was something important but after reading other comments I know it is just another scam!  I am so sick of getting random calls.

Been receiving from 786-358-6985 (Miami, Fla) landline for two weeks now...twice within 3 hours just this morning. The state of Florida is infested with scams. I'm on the Do Not Call Lists, but apparently this scam is registered as Not-For-Profit. It's time to report them.

This number "CDN Thanks You" calls twice every two hours.  I've never answered this call and don't plan on ever answering!  I'm so sick and tired of phone calls like this!  We've blocked numbers, put our number on the do not call registry, and still they call.  Ridiculous!!!
