This is not always wise. Sometimes these bozo's use real Attorney names, real Business phone numbers or even real peoples numbers.  Doing this only makes for more victims of extortion scam operations as the real business or people get calls and harassed when it is not them doing it to begin with.

Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

do not pay them!!  they are a scam.  report them to the FTC.  what debt collection company calls other people to report your business?  they don't know the laws, they won't disclose their address!  they are a scam.
call them back and ask for their address.... if they give it to you.. report them.
if they don't.... now you know they are a scam.  just because somebody calls you to say you owe money, doesn't mean you do.  even if you think you do, it doesn't mean they can collect or that they own the debt.  make them prove it.  not just a bill.  make them send you proof and show it to the FTC or a lawyer.  better yet, tell them you want proof so you can show it to your lawyer and the FTC to make sure its legit.

ok everybody.... this company is a scam.  they called me, expecting my son.  they have been stressing out my son (a college student) and even calling his job and former employers.  they don't show up on his credit report.  the FTC can't seem to get an address or a real name for them.  i called them (27 times) demanding their address... they refuse to disclose it.  have you ever heard of a debt collection company that won't tell you their name or address?  they are a scam.  they didn't even know who the FTC is!!!
do not pay these people.
MY SUGGESTION..... CALL THEM BACK AS MANY TIMES AS YOU CAN STAND.  HAVE YOUR FRIENDS CALL THEM TOO...   every time they call my son from now on, i think they should receive calls from me plus 30 friends calling them for an hour.  lets see how well they like that.

Florida is a cesspool of criminal activity, so it's only natural that sh*theads would rather rob people over the phone for their crack money than go out and get a real job or even panhandle, for God's sake! Begging is how drug addicts get money for their habits where I come from. I'm so sick of these phone calls, I haven't even LOOKED at a payday loan in ten years. They're illegal now in Mass anyway, probably to protect people from parasites like these jerks. I don't know and nor do I care why they are, but I hope these POS's don't call me on the wrong day because I would just LOVE to create a new orifice in their drug-addled bodies...

I just spoke with lisa she said that she was calling from an attorney's office and asked her what was the name of the firm, she said ars I told her that's not a firm you are a debt collector, she got angry and started talking loud and ask me if I wanted to take care of this situation or not and if I did verify my information and she would transfer me to the attorney I asked her to just transfer me and that made her madder than she was. and she threatened me with a garnishment of 35per and attorneys fees

Seems to be a lot of scams using 786 area code.

This lady said she needed to speak with my brother about an extremely important case.. She identified herself as Katherine Carter.. I told her that if she needs him she can go find him herself.. I'm not sure if this #'s location changes but it said from Miami, FL..

I know money can be really tight, but stay away from those payday loans because now those are being outsourced and foreigners are getting ahold of our credit card numbers, bank accounts number and personal information.  You never know who is selling your information.

The payday loans can be very convenient, but they are a trap.

They keep calling and calling.  I don't even bother to talk to anyone anymore because they DON'T LISTEN!  I don't owe any money to anyone and they just won't listen.  I used to send out cease and desist letters, but that doesn't work either.  They keep leaving me threatening phone message about the sheriff or something.  If they got it like that, I say BRING IT!  I haven't gotten these calls in a while, but now they are picking up again.

they call my work phone but don't leave a message. i answer one day an i ask who an where i send the money too LOL. i ask them there address an i looked it up it was in Florida on Google earth an it was some small yellow piece of s*** house in the ghetto. its a scam... i reported it.

I keep getting these calls at work and my housea lady saying she's with Impact solutions? She couldn't give me the creditor or what and got smart on the phone. She needs to stop harassing poeple and get a real job!

Caller said I need to contact plaintiff at the number and that I would be receiving mail at home or employer.

I received a voicemail message from this number saying the message was meant for my name from an Investigator Lisa Perry with some kind of heavy accent. Her message was this, " the sheriff is sending a summons so they can lock you up" . No company name provided and no phone number left. I have been affiliated with law enforcement for over 26 years and this is just so wrong. I will be calling the number tomorrow and I will be filing complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and my State Attorneys Office and Department of Justice!

I recieved two calls on my work phone at 8:17pm and 8:18pm. This is well after normal business hours. Both the man and the woman were foreigners saying I had a civil suit pending. Ironically I just applied for a payday loan. I stopped the process right after I entered my work number. NEVER again will I apply for a payday loan. I have since blocked the 786-382-0205 number and will block the 516 number too. We are not safe in a country where we should be,

I receive calls daily before I get to work with a message same as these Indian and foreign guys all scammers. I aksed for the company who I owed the debt to and I nver heard of them plus I also asked for a copy of what to fax it to me since this was a problem I either hang up or don't answer the phone.

They keep calling me threatening to take my car if I don't pay them for a payday loan I took out.  They had all of my information, however, I didn't take out a payday loan, my place of employment and home address were not current.  They got nasty with me when I told them that I would like them to email me proof and she said she would, but if I didn't pay today someone would be out to get my car within 24 hours.  I said go ahead and try it, I will have you sued faster then you can blink and eye and hung up.  I never received an verification of it and they keep continuing to call.  I have had to block their number from my phone.  

This company has been calling me alot, then cursed hung up and threatened me, its not real they lie and lie and wont even answer my calls after she yelled at me. FAKES

Scammers!!!!..old debt, or stolen information.  They go through cycles, changing their names, numbers and the company they work for. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!!!! My most recent call was received today at my workplace from "Investigator"(they get fancy with their titles as well) Catherine Carr from Asset Recovery Solutions. Threatened that there was a civil complaint against my name and SSN# and that myself or my representing attorney call them back right away to stop "this" from proceeding.  The number she called from was 561-952-1651, but the number she wanted me to call back was 786-382-0205.  They've been calling me for years now, threatening that someone would show up at my workplace to serve me with papers or arrest me. They try to make you fearful and some are very abusive when they call. They may call your contact people as well threatening them.

Most likely this is a scam operating out of India or Pakistan.  You can make a complaint, but until the US government starts taking direct action against the scammers, nothing can be done.  But you can protect yourself by simply hanging up or simply not answering calls from numbers you don't recognize.

This seems to be a debt collection agency posing as a law firm.  They had all my personal info except for a correct current address.  They even knew my SSN.

They threatened me with a lawsuit over a debt that is years past the statute of limitations.  I mentioned that to her and told her that if she was not such a ignorant **** she would know that.  When faced with those facts she disconnected the call and I have not heard back.

This is a extortion scam Operation. While your information from your father-in-law is correct, its kinda hard to sue a extortion scam operation out of India that you will not be able to actually locate though. You need to inform him of these operations. Please read Alfalfa's post above, and also mine on page one, specifically the articles on extortion scams.

I received a call from a female at this number who identified herself as working at a law firm that was suing me on behalf of Citibank Financial in regards to a auto repossession.

She informed me that they will be serving papers on me and that I will even have to appear in court. I could not even sleep that night and then I talked to my father in law (a Attorney) the next day and he said that this is not even legal, they cannot tell you that they are going to sue you, they cannot threaten you like that, they cannot say that they are from a law firm and last but not least there is a 6 year statute of limitations on creditors pursuing debt. None of what this lady said to me on the phone was true or legal and I am considering legal action. I would encourage anyone else who gets a call from these people to do the same.

I get calls at least 5 times a week from this number under "investigator Katie Holmes" saying she will serve papers to my place of residence or work in 3 days since I have ignored the "plaintiff" she has said this for about a month. I get calls on my cell at 930 at night! What can I do?
