How do you contact the FBI Counter Terrorism Task Force to report this - or can you email them?  I am still shaking from the call I got this morning.  Thank you.

Prank Call
Received a call this morning from a man claiming to be with 'Windows' tech support telling me that they had just received a report from my computer about a problem.  I told him that wasn't possible because I had to 'ok' it to be sent.  He said that it probably asked me if I wanted to send the report 'now' or 'later' but I interrupted him and said that's not how it works.   Anyway he rambled on about viruses, spam, malware and all kind of things that could be infecting my computer, at this point I interrupted him again and asked him from what country was he calling (because I know a lot of the tech support staff is overseas and he had a heavy asian accent) .. he said he was in Florida ... I told him that Florida was not a country but a state ... he tried continuing with his pitch but I interrupted him again about where he was calling from ... out of the blue he said F*** your mother, you F*** your mother, I told him I was a woman not a man (because he kept on saying 'sir' to me) you stupid a$$hole and hung up.  He definitely was not from any tech support ... will never answer the phone again from 'unknown' caller.

Its a scam and all they want is your money! They have no way of knowing whats going on with your computer and No legitimate company cold calls like this.  The scam usually entails them taking you to your event viewer which is a internal monitor that logs events on your computer.. Oh sure, you will see the error's logged, but its all a scam to get you to allow them access to your computer. The event viewer is only doing its job and its there for a real tech to look through should you actually have a problem. Then they want remote access! They usually turn your anti virus program off  and give you a big spiel, then inform you they want a small fee to fix it.. several hundred dollars of course! Meanwhile, they have access to all your computer and could be gleaning personal info, downloading stuff to your computer to turn it into a zombie computer to spam folks..

The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!

Received message also today (Sept. 27th) from male with foreign accent, telling me he was from Microsoft and they noticed thru internet windows satelite, that my cumputer was not protected.  Not being able to underrstand put me on alert and there was so much noise in the back ground.  Then he proceded to instruct me to go to the C T R L button (which he explained to me) and I immediately hung phone up.

Just got off the phone with "Peter Smith" from Windows in Florida.  Same deal - heavy accent, Indian, tried to get me to turn on my computer (I did, after disconnecting the internet), push two specific keys (I didn't, suspecting a trick or unwanted access) and go on the internet (not while I was talking with him).  Doesn't sound right - not like Windows or any other system (none of which really give a damn once you're out of the store).

Guy was hard to get rid of.  Finally, I asked for a callback number, and after a lot of B.S. I got it - but the way he rattled it off was more like a foreign number (instead of 1-7876-565-1578, he read it 178-6565-1528).  Anybody working the phones legally knows better than that.

Prank Call
Call received from what appears to be a East Asia speaking person claiming to be some some fraudulent Microsoft support schema. Had my name wrong and asked for me to get on my Windows based computer. Be careful people! Same noisy background as Pamela reported. This is a phishing exercise to compromise the U.S networks and your protection. The problem is, is where are they getting the information from?

1:Microsoft will never call you about a problem. And neither will Apple!

2: Never give any information on your physical location, your Internet Provider, and or your computer info to anyone EVER!!!

3: Call the FBI's Counter Terrorism Task Force and report the number, time called, and the duration of the call along with details of the call.

Got the same call.  He said he was from Microsoft. Had a VERY hard time understanding him. I had to ask him to repeat himself multiple times.   He kept on saying that I was on the 'global router' and started to want to walk me through logging on...I told him there was no way I was going to do something some random caller told me to, that he was either selling something or trying to infect my computer. I said I doubted very much that he was from Microsoft and was there a number I could call him back at.  He said something else about a 'global router' then gave up and said goodbye.   There were sounds in the background of a 'bullpen' full of phones and caller.

Same thing when I got the call. The accent was so heavy I could only make out a few words. I told him I couldn't understand him & he needs to learn to speak English in a "not very nice way". Then I hung up on him.

Guy with heavy accent.  Said he was with Microsoft and my computer was infected.  Wanted me to let him get remote access -- NOT happening!!!   When I told him it there was no way I was going to let someone who called me have access to my computed, he told me my computer was infected with a virus and he wanted to help me correct it.  Again -- No Way -- argued a bit and then hung up.

A guy with a heavy east Indian accent called and said he was from Windows Help Desk - which I believed for a moment because I had JUST gotten off my computer with a technician helping me with internet problems - but then I just couldn't understand him and felt he wasn't for real and hung up on him. Don't know what he gets out of it.

Guy with a very heavy accent called and said he was from Windows Corporation and wanted to talk to me about my computer.  I said that I doubt seriously that was true, and then said thank you, and hung up.
