Prank Call
I received a call from this number 3 times.  He had a very heavy accent.  I asked him who is he calling and did not know my name and finally asked me for my name.  I told him to ^%$^&&-off and I hung up.

Just got a call from this number. Heavy accent, and tells me my computer has a trojan virus. I ask him which computer, and he tells me 'The windows one.' I ask where he's calling from, and he tells me 'France'. I then tell him my caller ID reports he's in Miami, and he really needs to try harder, he's really bad at this. I was going to say more but he hung up.

received call from "michael" with thick Indian accent wanting to help me fix a Trojan Horse that had infected my Microsoft program. He said that Microsoft did not know about it. I told him in N.C. if someone tells him to take their number off the call list, it is a prosecutable offense if they call back. The number, same as above, has a woman with a British accent who says that no one is available to take my call, but to leave my number and I will have the call returned. I hung up on the caller but wen online and notified my friends.

I received a call from this number and he had a very bad accent which I think was Spanish. He identified himself as a representative for a online drugstore when I asked him what store he said k&m so I thought ok and asked his about the price of a certain medication and spelled it also gave him the quantity, but when he asked what is it for I told him that I wasn't comfortable telling him that information and ended the call.
I then looked up the number and found this Site. I am glad I did not tell him my name.

Scammers, espcially from outside the US, and criminals ignore the Do Not Call List. It is not a magical piece of techology that can block unwanted calls but a law regulating telemarketing, ie sales, calls.  There are a number of exceptions such as businesses you use, charities, surveys, political calls, etc.  Legitimate telemarketers do indeed check numbers against the list before calling.  If you are getting telemarketing calls and are on the list, that tells you all you need to know about the company calling you. Report the number to the FTC and FCC. with enoigh complaints they do investigate and take action but it is a slow process.

Jam, I'd still recommend you search on her name.  That might give you a clue as to how he found out her name and how it was associated with your phone number.  You may have legal recourse to sue whoever released that information since she is a minor.

Jam,  does your daughter use any social networking site such as Facebook?  If so, she may have listed her phone number there.  These scammers dig up numbers and names from all over to find people to try and scam.  You may want to Google your daugher's name to see exactly what is on the internet under her name.

I just received a call from this number. It alarmed me due to the fact they were asking for my 10 year old daughter by name. I could barely understand the guy. He did state his name was James. He said it was in regards to a computer. I told him he was calling and mentioning my daughters name and she is a miner, He paused for a long while. I told him he needed to state the place he was calling from and what the nature of his business was in calling me in my daughters name. He then said "ooooh ummm.... I think I have the wrong number." You think you have the wrong number?? !! You just called my phone and have my daughters name. I let him know that I would be reporting him and he hung up. I don't understand how in the world they got my daughters name and I am one ticked Mom. I have reported there number and the supposed name of the guy that called to my local police department as harassment since my daughter is a miner. I have also contacted my local news station. This will be stopped.

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it.

I got the same spiel from this guy at 786-600-1360.  But he called me Haven and that is not even close to what my real name is.  I told him he was full of it and he needed to get a real job and then hung up.  I wonder what site we all went to that has given our info out?

This male person called from this number. Could not understand because he had an accent. He did know my name even though I did not say my name. I asked him several times to identify himself, but I could not understand what jibberish he was saying. He then hung up.

We received a call from this number today.  Some guy with a foreign accent told my husband his computer had a virus and that he should allow this guy to 'take over' the computer to make repairs.  My husband kept telling him he would not allow anyone to 'take over' his computer and finally hung up on this guy!!!  Sounds like a real scam to us!
