Welcome to the shark pit of online dating. In trouble in Nigeria? Your UK boy was already in Nigeria, sitting in an internet cafe scamming people. That's what he does for a living. As soon as someone you have just met asks for money, it's a scam. 100% every time. Keep dating, but keep the purse closed.

I get calls from this number everyday, sometimes 3 or 4 times in a row but it only rings once or twice before I can get to the phone and answer it. The last time I did get someone on the line their English was so broken I couldn't tell who they were asking for.

I received a call from a guy with an accent (Hispanic?). I could hear in the background that it was a call center. He used my nickname which wouldn't be used for legal/official purposes. He wanted to talk about my vaginal implant surgery that I had (I am a man). I let him ramble.
At one point, he asked for 10,000 or he was going to kidnap my wife. When I told hi "Go for it. I'm not married", he acted like he was joking. Later, he got crude and I hung up.
Any call center is going to record their calls. This guy was obviously not concerned about that.

These extortionists are very convincing, which makes their scam so successful---in addition to the fact it is next to impossible to track them down because they are either using disposable cell phones or spoofing numbers and the names of firms utilizing VOIP to make them appear they are legitimate.Your best protection against becoming another victim of these criminals is to educate yourselves with the following facts (straight from the FTC's website):

A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.

Prank Call
These people have hacked legit accounts and do know correct info, however, they are most definitely a SCAM, they are calling many references on previous paid loans, I've blocked their calls so now they are calling my families numbers with 800# (877)7305704 & local numbers...such as 909-247-1018 & 909-247-1058  they can not provide anything in writing, they say they sent notice to both my old and current address, I've been in my current location over 3 years, my number hasn't changed in 7, they think by harassing family and having some correct info, such as social security they can scare you to send them money...also you can not demand someone to go to your local Wal-Mart. And money gram them by the end of the day...really? Not a scam? Ok...go wait for in line for that money gram to arrive..lol. people please don't fall for their trap....aswell they can not threaten you with law enforcement and they also falsely portray themselves to be a part of the court...also illegal! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

I received several calls from this number.  I, too, could barely understand his English as he had a very thick mid-Eastern accent.  He said, "I need to talk to Margie" (I don't go by that name), I said "This is she".  He then said he was calling about my being able to get 'free health care insurance by the government'.  I said, "Yeah, right", and hung up.  I believe this is a scam and this group of individuals is attempting to extort money by getting you to provide them with information.  Don't get drawn in by it!  I attempted to call the number back, but it was identified as a disconnected number.  I assume they are using hacked in numbers to avoid being caught.

I received a call from 1-786-611-1214, but did not pick up as I don't know anyone in Florida.  I don't owe anyone anything, so I don't know why they would be calling me.  Thought I would put this here to make others aware.

this number continues to call my house so I finally answered. At first it was a british speaking recording named Kelly something. Called me by my maiden name (12 yes ago) and said that it was a collections call from Conventry on behalf of Comcast.  He insisted that I verify my address and named the street I live on.  I refused as he kept saying this isn't a courtesy call or a sales call and it was collections.  Well I can very much say that I owe no amount of debt to anyone let alone Comcast and even if I did, I informed him that he has surpassed any statue of limitations and then he started yelling at me telling me that statue of limitations only pertains to credit history reports n credit and not collections. i told him he was getting no money or info from me and i hung up. Then, ironically, I get a call immediately from another out of state(not the same area code) number on my cell phone. After googling the number, I found this. My advice, DO NOT PROVIDE THEM WITH ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION. If you feel like it is legit in any way, tell them to send you paperwork in the mail. Guaranteed you will never see it.
