It's some stupid santa's workshop number. I received a text saying "Hey man I need to talk to you but my phone is dying, call me at (786) 837-9882"  I you want to hear an automated santa claus curse at you then go ahead and call.

786-837-9882 is a Humor Hotline from HumorHotlines.com. It plays a recording of an angry Santa Claus. They also have a Psychiatric Hotline you can call at 973-409-3277. Waaaay funny.

If you have 5 minutes to waste - you might want to call this number and hear Santa go off on a cursing spree; if you have better things to do - then you can skip this sooo unhumorous call.

I got a text from a friend of mine (who's name is saved in my cell phone) The message stated "I need to talk to you, call me at 786-837-9882 since my phone is dead.
I texted my friend but never got a return call or message

Received an anonymous message "I need to talk to you about some stuff that just happened and your name got brought up."

I just received a TEXT from 512-308-5523 saying, "Hey!!  Call me at this number ASAP!!!! Then they listed the 786 number.

I just got a text from 773-653-6263 telling me to call them now at 786-837-9882 because they were standing in the store and they wanted to know what I wanted for "X-Max"-this let me know that the person either can't spell or is from some country where "X-max" exists. I'm not calling-I don't need nothing for "X-Max"

missed the call thank God but my number is a business number and I cant believe they called my shop....dont have time to waste on these kinds of calls, don't have text, this is a landline.

So I decided to investigate the people behind this thing and their website (my virus definitions are up-to-date, so what do I have to worry about, right?), and guess what I found out? That you, Mr. Lawyer, didn't do your homework. These people don't make outgoing calls. They just make the numbers. Other people take these numbers and spoof their friends and/or complete strangers. That's not what they're for, but spoofing technology isn't too picky. Stop being an a**hat and get a life! And while you're at it, pick up a decent long distance plan. Jebus!

Just a couple of hours ago I got a text message from a friend to call him at this number, and in fact I got the stupid record of Santa - I hung up realizing it was a scam. Since then, I have already received 2 weird calls from local guys soliciting some one, 2 wrong numbers in a couple of hours? That has never happened to me.
IT IS TOTALLY illegally to send a message passing as somebody else, and their number. THAT IS IMPERSONATION. It is also illegal to send a message to a cell number for soliciting. It is illegal to pass as somebody else and make it seem an emergency (you get fine by law if calling the fire dept. or police).
This is SO FAR, I do not know if there are charges yet. It is not proper for this marketing company to give my number to crank callers to call my cel.

not charged?... really???!!! what if you don't have an unlimitted plan? or you're on prepaid? you think that calling is free then???

you know it's still illegal, right? you're facing $300,000 of fine and up to 5 years in jail. it doesn't matter if the number is 'free' (nothing is free with cell phones,  btw, because if you don't have an unlimitted plan, it will cost the caller to call that number!!!), you're still facing charges. I'm a lawyer and already reported that number to the FBI. Spamming cell phones is illegal and sought after even more than on the web.

it's not a gag, it's a scam!!! That number, if you call it, will charge you like 3 bucks a minute or so.

That's bogus! I call these numbers like everyday and I've never been charged anything. They're just jokes. Whoever "ATT Rep" is, they probably never even called any of these numbers. Some pppl should just stop talking out of their @$$.

DON'T call this number, it stores your cell info then starts sending you texts that if opened them charges for some bogus service.

I got a text from my brother saying "Call me ASAP at 786-837-9882" I called and realized it was actually some funny Santa Hotline. He assured me that it was free, and the people who made it (humorhotlines.com) have lots of other funny numbers too.

sent me a text also from my friends phone who provider is cingular, just wondering if this cellphone company is the only one who are sending these crazy messages. The message i received was "Call. me at this number asap i'm at jail.

I got the text from a cousin who had last texted me.........while she was at Christmas Eve Service.  I called the number and it was joke with Santa and then once he requested you hit certain numbers, I hung up.....figured it was a scam.  I wouldn't have called the number except it said to call them right way it was important.

I got it in a text.A friend sent it to me and I called. He verified that he sent it. They've changed the recording to a Santa's workshop theme. It's actually pretty funny. For adults only though.
