Ya same thing happened to me but i figured it out after a min, the story was very inconsistent and the guys story didnt check it, I have to admit though i was pretty freaked out for a couple mins till i realized what was happening

When you get calls like this, first call your loved ones or friends to know if they are alright. Never ever send money to some cowardly criminal that threatens you. Make sure you report the calls to the cops and other authorities.

My brother got a call from these jokers and they told him they had his wife and they were going to slit her throat if he did not pay em.  We quickly called her though and found out she was fine.  But it was a scary 5 minutes.

Same here. My mom just paid 570 same story. We need to stop it. We need to do something...

I got this call today and I was told that my brother had been involved in a hit and run accident and that he tried to run after hitting this guys nephew and they wanted me to western union them 3700 dollars in order to be told where my brother was. They stated that my brother had his head cracked open and if I wanted to save his life before bleeding to death I had to wire the money. This is a scam, my brother was fine. When I called back noone answered. These ppl have a ring back tone which means it is a personal phone. It is registered in Salinas PR. Something needs to be done. If you get a call from this number hang up and call your local Police station. These are not funny pranks and this is not something to joke about.

Same happened to me. A guy just called me from this number saying that a family member was in a car accident, needed medical attention, and asked him to call me. I told him that it couldn't be one of my kids ( I had just talked to them). I don't know exactly what he wanted but he spoke in spanish the whole time. He said the person had given me my phone number. I ask him the name of the person but he said that he was inconscient and couldn't answer (but had time to give my number before passing out ?). I asked him the color of the car and he said black. None of my kids has a black car. It's a prank and not a very funny one!!!

My bofriends mom got a call from this # today and same story about a relative who they were going to beat up and that she needed to show up with money.  They insulted her and threatened her.

Same story......Hit and run, now I am a hostage.......I contacted the CIA.

They called my mother with the same story and I was at work. They kept her on the phone for about 45mins and told her they were going to kill me :( she was all crying and thought he was for real. I reported it to MD Police Department and they said this has happened for the past year or two and these calls are from Puerto Rico. I provided them with the number they called from. Let keep our relatives and families aware of this crazy scam.
