It's Virgin Media.  I reported that my broadband was down and they called and left amessage to say that it was back up and running.  Seems genuine.

5 times today 4 without a responce just a dead line and 1 playing music.
Rang the number and was told by the usual auto responce girl that they would call me back.
Seems almost like the real thing but I doubt if it realy is>

Yes this number is a con i have had these calls for six months been told that there is nothing that can be done to block them, i am sure with all the gear the phone companies have that if they wanted to it would be easy.

I've been getting these calls every day for about 3 weeks now. 'Lucky' me though, my Nokia 6820a no longer works for incoming calls (it sounds funny, says it's an incoming data call & you can't answer it - anyone know a fix?) so, not recognising the number I just hang it up.  Was suspicious anyway, only a few friends have my number & they know I can only receive texts.

I have recieved numerous calls from this number over the last two weeks but until today they have always hung up when I answered, I didn't call back for obvious reasons.  When I answered today I actually managed to speak to someone, a female by the name of Mai.  Mai said she was calling from Virgin Media and proceeded to try and obtain various details from me, she was clearly trying to trick me into giving information. Mai started by confirming my name and that I had standard broadband and tv with Virgin Media (this was incorrect), when I said she was wrong she asked me what services I did have.  I didn't answer any of her questions as it seemed dodgy from the start so I don't know what the scam is.  My guess is that she was going to offer me a very good deal on an upgraded package and then ask for my bank or other personal details.  Mai also said she was calling from Virgin Media in Manilla but when I asked for their address she said she had forgotten it!

I called Virgin Media to advise them and they confirmed the call had nothing to do with them.

I am getting missed calls too from this number over the past couple of days - thanks to everyones comments on this site, i will certainly not answer.

If we are all Virgin customers and they appear to have our mobile numbers, it would seem Virgin have had stolen / given / sold our details to these dodgy people! Nice!!!!

I have been having the same number ringing me at least twice a day, i have been in contact with my mobile service provider who told me to get in contact with the police and i have also been in contact with samsung to block the number. Today i got really feb up with this number and contacted the police again who gave me the web address of OFCOM who i have contacted by telephone No:02079813040 who have made a note but they need several calls to be able to find out who is calling, so i would like everyone to call OFCOM to complain about the calls then hopefully we will get it sorted and stop the calls.
Thanks

Literally just had a call from this number 5 minutes ago.
Having worked in a few call centres I can vouch that if it was the off-shore call centre of Virgin, they certainly would have the number routed through to show as a uk number like 0845 etc.
DON'T call back, don't confirm or deny anything. I'm very careful with my information so have no idea how they got my phone number!

I've had five calls from these people today. On the third occasion I answered and waited to see what happened next, after about five minutes I got some bloke with an accent I've never heard before. He told me he was calling from virgin media and because I was such a good customer they would like to offer a reward. He then asked if I had a virgin mobile contract. I asked him how come he didn't know if he was from virgin. I asked him to remove my details from the database. Since then I've had another two missed calls from them.

I just recieved a call from this number, someone called Princess, saying she is calling from Virgin Media, asked for a few details so they can confirm my id but then asked for my card details. Since am on Direct debit with Virgin, i told her that i cant give her my details since VM already has them. She was offering me a gift of a new phone for being a  good virgin customer, but her questions seemed suspicious. It does not seem like atypical call centre call. I is a scam.

Call on my mobile yesterday - when I answered a guy said he was calling from Virgin Media and wanted to offer me a great deal on Virgin Mobile. Told him I wasn't interested but he persisted, so I told him to remove me from any marketing lists that I might be on (I shouldn't actually be on any, as I make a point of ticking or not ticking that option for everything I sign up to).

Very persistent, and as mentioned before, call seems to be from the Philippines or somewhere.

I just came here curious as to why this number just called me, I didn't answer it, I rarely ever answer any number that I don't know anymore thanks to the phone spammers, I got a text once saying "mum can you pick me up one hour later tonight" blah, blah, blah, I was happy to ignore it being sure that it was just some spam trick, but my nagging friend insisted that I reply to it even though I guessed I would immediately get some stupid crap back the instant that I did and hey presto a few moments after I sent a text back I got a text saying that I had won a competition 0_o yeah right !

Got unsolicited call on my mobile at 1501hrs 09/09/09 from +8000 135333.  It was a female stating she was "Naomi from Wirgin Meddia" (I think she meant "Naomi from Virgin Media"!!), and asked to speak to my husband.  I told her I didn't have one so she said, "OK, I ring him on his landline, sorry." and hung up.  Very, very strange.  BEWARE people - methinks this is another scam.  Never, ever give them an inkling as to who you are; deny that the person they want to speak to even exists and, under no circumstances, give them, or agree with, any account numbers they may have or want from you.

called me just saying she was from virgin and asking for my password that i set the account up with in 2002 and wanted to reward me, wen i said i couldnt remember she asked for address etc to confirm, wen i said you tell me who u think i am and i'll confirm it, she asked for password again, i told her to send me any offers by post on letterheaded paper and she said some1 else would call me and hung up, this call went on for sometime and was quiet funny, like something off phonejacker, if it is virgin , its very unprofessional .

I have had numerouse calls form this number around 5 a day every day for a week. i today called Virgin Media who stated that the calls were nothing to do with them and what when recieving calls from tyhis number; if i decide to answer them not to give any personal details as they are nothing to do with Virgin media. the person i spoke to from VM directly stated that if it was legitamet and they were really a part of virgin notes would be added to my acc ount saying i had been called automatically. he suggested ignoring the calls alltogether.
