I am sure the post from misty313 is a post set up by the collection agency.  Read it carefully.  There is no way that this can happen because they would have to be licensed in michigan.  This company is based in Florida and is actually part of a Ted Ellis Crosby conglomerate of about 7 companies.  Ted Ellis Crosby is legally no longer allowed to work in the debt collection field per judge's ruling.

DO NOT GIVE ANY MONEY TO THESE PEOPLE.  When they call me, I have A LOT of fun with them.  I like to ask them if their Mommy knows they do this for a living.  I like to ask the India call center that lately has called me how things are in Bombay, weather, etc. . . I ask them which court has received the "downloaded" criminal papers.  It's so laughable.

I got the same call. they suckered me in to paying them by scaring me. I had 3 pay day loans. I paid them, now they are calling me again, I guess regarding the third one. They must collect for all these people.  I worry cuz I don't want them to garnish my wages. Can they? They have my work number.  I am avoiding their calls now.  I did not write checks so they can't get me on check fraud.  I am filing bankruptcy, so I will avoid them  until I file.
Can they attach my wages? What are their rights as a third party collection agency?

Yesterday  i had the same thing happen to me. I was trying to call ace cash express but they refereed me to this number 18002010565. So i talked to a guy by the name of jack Bowen he was very rude and ignorant. I told me i have untill 4pm yesterday to pay the money or else i was going to jail. I was like first of all how the hell im going to jail over a pay day loan. He was like you have outstanding chcecks. I told him i did not write checks to them. When you take out a pay day loan with any company you have to have a blank check. So in all actuality you are not writing the checks. They made it seem like i was doing check fraud. Which i know my rights dealing with this after doing alot of researching and filing complaint to FTC, BBB, and Attorney Generals office in florida. I was so scared when they had put their scarse tactics on me. I did not know what to do. So i called them back to ask can i do payment arrangements and the guy told me we cant do that. I was like why? So he started getting loud with me telling me that he do not have to explain anything to me. Then telling me they are filing two complaints on me. Im like this is a civil case not a criminal case. After him going off on me. I ask him for his name he yelled at me asking what is your name. So of course i yelled back at his rude a**. I told him im going to report this company and im going to consult in attorney about taking them to court. Because they violated the FDCPA law. They are doing this to everybody. So people please have knowledge about these people cause they will say and do anything to scare you. I did alot of research on this company. They are not a firm they are a collection agency. If you do not know your rights find out do some research or get in contact with your attorney or lawyer. Yesterday was a bad day dealing this cruel people. So today i get a phone call from their client which is ace cash express. I was telling the lady that i know all about Legal Mediation Practice. I told her that they where not willing to work with me. IN so many ways she admitted that they where a third party collection agency. So that right there should tell you that when you work in third party collection agency they can tell you anything and lie about their names as well. The lady was very nice and very helpful with sharing with me about them and their company. At the end of the conversation she gave me the guys number that owns that company. Basically in other words she told me to call him and let him know whats been going on and see if he can work a payment arrangement to get the debt paid off. So once again people report them , get an attorney. The more people we get to file a complaint the more chance they would eventually be put out of buisness.

Tom Law call me 2 day saying good luck. 800-201-0565 ext 237. He told me that the payday loan do not want to talk to me they just throw their hands up. Well that send pains through my chest and may cause me to lose my job which i need. Last year i no money death in family i had to do to stay alive i do want to pay back payday loan but in installments. and i need to talk to them

I returned this call to this number. I asked whom they were trying to call. He then wanted my name, I told him I would not give this to him until i knew who he wanted. He then asked for my phone number, i gave it to him and he said the number is not in system. I then asked for him not to call this number since he could not tell me who he is trying to get ahold of. He was very very rude and informed me it does not work that way.

I received a call asking for my husband.  Said he made a decision on the legal matter and to return his call.  The last thing he said was Good Luck.

I have no idea what this is about.

I got a call from this company...so called law firm back in April. They were calling for 3 cash advances that I have from like a year ago. Two of my loans were from the internet. I am a single mother and need help. I as well goggled this company and basically laughed in the lady’s face that called me. I asked her is she was a law firm and she told me not to worry about it because there was no way to excuse myself out of it. I know that I owe but don’t have the money so I told the lady do what you got to do!!! Well I am now freaking out because I have to appear in Court on August 7th. I contacted the court house (clerk of court) whatever..and they say these 2 companies have filed against me civilly. I have no money. So can anyone help out and tell me what to do???????? Because the clerk said there is no garnishment involved. So, what is the Judge just going to order me to pay them back or what?. What’s up. I cant afford a lawyer, I called this company back at 800-201-0565 and they told me they cant help me because I told them to do what they got to do and they did.. HP CAPITAL is NOT Legal Mediation Practice. LMP Owners sold out their business in 12 08. HP CAPITAL has a few of the same reps working for them which is why the "tactics" are similar.

They are still going with their same tacticts.  I recieved a call today  from a James Connor stating that he was a lawyer with H&P Capitiol stating that he could not get a hold of my sister and asked me to give her the message that they made a desision on her case and are ready to move forward with or without her statement.  Because the call came from Florida and we are out of state I tried to look up H&P Capitol, and was led to Legal Meditation Practice.  I am thankful for all the information that is previously listed, and hopefull that with more awarness of this company, that people will not have to feel threatened by them.

These guys called me two times and threatened to find me and beat me up for the money telling me they did not have to prove the debt that I owed them. They started to demand that I verify addresses and my SSN which I would not do until they told me what it was about specifically or they can send me documentation relating the debt.  I am in Seattle but filed a complaint with the Florida AG, Washington AG, the FBI and the Seattle Police Department.

well i gotten a call from legal mediation and they said that i owe 700.00 and that they was going put civil law sue against me.the person i talk to was very rude very she told me that you know you spend it and that you need to be responesiable

My dad received a call for me.  They implied they were attorneys and this was the second contact with him about this debt, which is a violation of FDCPA for contacting third parties.  I called and they could not be pinned down to specifics.  They just used half truths and innuendo to imply what would happen.  I am well acquainted with FDCPA guidelines so I asked if Jim was an attorney he said "no".  I asked if he was a para-legal and he said "no".  He said he worked for a law office which he does not.  He ended the call after implying a few legal options they would take at 4:00 P.M. today adding that I should consult an attorney.  I called back and asked for an address.  A man saying he was Jim's boss asked me why the address and I replied I was sending a letter.  He asked what kind.  I told him a letter requesting verification.  He said I didn't need it because I had already agreed I did business with them.  I advised him I did not agree with the amount and wanted verification as was my right under FDCPA.  He told me to have a good day and hung up.  I will now contact the Federal Trade Commision to file a complaint for non compliance of a third party collector.  All of you should know that if they are found in non compliance they could be liable for up to $1000.00 per violation.  That is for both the collector and the company he works for.  Do not let them bully you.  Research your rights under FDCPA in Google and fight back with facts.

My Attorney said that I am now protected by the bankruptcy protection. That agency Legal Med Practice was not the one suing me but the clients that they rep were. But I am okay now. Thanks!

it is my understanding that since you filed for bankruptcy protection these collection agency dirtballs should have no standing to sue you, and should only contact your attorney rather than contacting you directly. double check that with your bankruptcy lawyer.  take care!

WOW, jack***!! Thanks for the help. I actually called Legal Aide in Wayne County and got a bankruptcy Attorney to go ahead and file Ch7. I am a single mother with no child support comming in. I work for probally one of the #1 bank in the US. But, that doesnt buy diapers or pay enough for daycare!!!! I had to take out these loans to make ends meet. However I do live in Detroit. That company is in Florida. But, Hey thanks again for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I received a call from these people at work. They called me and scared the hell out of me at work with the receptionist and said that it was an emergency. She said is it family or is there a child involved. He also called my paretns house and she said he was rude and said my attorney needed to call him. And told me I was going to jail at 3:30pm today. At first I did not believe them but then they mentioned my workplace and that our local police was coming there to arrest me. He kept saying that I fraudulently represented myself. I was shaken and upset. He (J Mason) was very rude and aggressive. Although, I do believe that we need to repay our debt - but this tactic is not a way to make progress.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. First, report these crooks to federal and state law enforcement as soon as possible. See my message above from June 20 for information on who these grifters are and how to report them to federal and state law enforcement. (Be sure to give all those law enforcement agencies the MoneyGram routing information.)

Im not sure if you can help. But i recieved a call from these people at work. I have a severe disability and a single mom. They called me and scared the hell out of me and told me i was going to jail at 2pm. At first i did not believe them but then they mentioned my boss's name and place of business and that our local police was comming there to arrest me. i was so upset. i borrowed against my future paycheck @ the amount of 640.00 and went to money gram like they said and made the payment as i said i was so shook up and scared. when i tried to call them back they would not let me talk to the person i originally talked with and then made fun of me and said very rude things. now they won't even talk to me. i can't get a reciept of the transfer and they keep hanging up on me. i have contacted money gram who said that they were going to report this company for fraudulently representing a law firm. what are my options here i will not have money for me and my children now for the next two weeks. This company won't talk nor cofirm anything. and further more the company they said that they were representing said that my loan is going to stay in default because the money does not go to them at all. please help....

received a call from J Mason stating that i will be processed and deposed at 3pm today 7/7/08 at my place of employment for defrauding web pay loan which i didn't.  This phone call was on my job and i was shuck up and scared.  I tried calling this guy's supervisor and got no where.  I mentioned calling a lawyer because this seemed strange and it sounds as if i was going to be arrested.  I find this to be unacceptable to call and threaten people especially on their job and these people need to be stopped.  Sometimes things happen that is beyond your control and agencies like Legal Mediation Practice just make matters worst.  The term mediation does have a meaning  and it not to harass and threaten

In my opinion, that can be construed as threat of violence. It's all hot air, of course. But I suggest you treat this bogus threat as if it were real, and report these crooks to all the federal and state law enforcement agencies listed in my message above dated June 20.

I got a call from this number a few times, have no idea what it is for. They also called my sisters cell phone and left a message. Now if it is for some kind of debt that I have, I think it is totally wrong to be calling other people and leaving messages saying stuff like " I want her to know what is going to happen next". I think it is very rude to explain things like that to people you may not want knowing about your problems.
