Hi, I received the same note on my door today.  I also am morgaged with Wells Fargo.  It seems as if there is more to this story.  I will be contacting the police about this.  Any one else lately, in SC.

We got the same type of note that looked like it was copied by the hundreds.  at least I live in a state where it legal to shoot someone on my property.  I will be watching for them to come back. South Carolina is great.

This toll free number belongs to Direct Communications, Inc. and is used to test IVR applications. Normally this number is "dead" but as of yesterday (1/20/09) has been used for testing a voice mail application.

A hand bill flier in the bushes without a phone reference. Two people fled in a car without knocking or ringing the door bell.  It's Wells Fargo for sure. Three months of stalling the HAMP process, now a sketchy secret foreclosure process.

a older guy pulled up in a beater if a car, I went out to meet him, he asked if I was Ms Scott, when I replied yes he gave me an envelope with my husbands name on it. Inside was a note,  no date, although there was a space to put it. Note read   "URGENT! PLEASE CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY AT: 1-800-206-7984.
When we called our phone showed it was connected but there was nothing but dead air
We are also trying to get our mortgage modified through Wells Fargo. Guess it is time to call them and find out what it is all about

Got the same note as desribed above stuck in an envelope taped to my mailbox.  URGENT PLEASE CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY 800-206-7984 WELLS FARGO  I've been approved for a home modification loan and haven gotten some past dues on regular mortgage pymt.  I called the mod. loan dept and they said don't worry abou the past due statements.  They never said anything about someone coming out to my house.

I got the same freakin' note today stuck in my door.   But being in law enforcement, I decided to look around on the web before calling it. I also have Wells Fargo as my mortgage company.  But if they are playing games with idiots that leave childish notes, then I'm going to look into refinancing with somebody else.  To the person that left the note, leave another one if you dare !

Yep that same letter with that phone number appeared in our door. Called # and dead air, not even a ring back like it was dialing out. We do NOT use Wells Fargo for anything, and our mortage is auto bank drafted and completely up to date. Something sounds fishy with this....

My wife was in the garage when she noticed a black lady with glasses taking photos of my house.  She drove a white SUV.  She left a yellow notice on my door that said, "URGENT! Please contact us immediately."  I called 800-206-7984 but, all I heard was dead air.  Wells Fargo services my mortgage.

This is still going strong.  Had a note taped to the door yesterday with this number, and a 2nd number from Well Fargo Home Mortgage.  The first # was dead air.  We haven't been in the house even a month.  We are leasing it.  Think the owner must be behind in the mortgage because 2 weeks ago the post office tried to deliver certified mail from Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.

I heard someone at my door today but they didn't knock. I didn't pay much attention until my dog in the back yard started going crazy. When looked in back yard, there was a guy in the yard looking into my bedroom window. Since I'm in Texas and the law allows me to protect my property with deadly force. I met him in the back yard with my .45 and we waited for the police to arrive. He was charged with criminal trespass since I have the gate locked and "no trespassing" signs. After, the fact I noticed a sign on my door with this number and a similar message. I think its just a front to case out houses for robbery.

I live in the Augusta GA area. And here's the explanation I got from Wells Fargo Home Mtg. about these letters and the phone number.

Wells Fargo will periodically send a third party out to your home to verify it's condition and to make sure someone is still in the residence. In this time of foreclosures they just want to make sure that their investment is secure. Especially if you are behind in your mortgage.

The only way the third party is paid is by Wells Fargo knowing you got the letter. It's done by the phone number. When you call, your number, via caller ID, is recorded. This record, along with the home number you have on record, verifies the letter was received and the third party can be paid for delivering the notice.

It's messed up that the 3rd party does not have the proper letter head. It would stop alot of us from wondering if our home is safe. We told WFHM about this too !!

We have had them come by two times, and Wells Fargo had the date and description of our property and vehicles in the pictures that were taken.

I hope this helps calm you all. It did help us.

Follow up to above post ... I called WF Loss Mitigation Dept who is working on my modification, they said if WF sends out an inspector they will leave a card with "Wells Fargo" on it so we can call. My home is NOT in foreclosure (verified by WF)

I just home and found the note on my door.  I'm in Texas 77459 code.  Same words as previously reported.  Same number.  Mortgage with Wells Fargo.

FYI I got the same orange notice taped on my door this weekend w/the bogus number to call & I freaked out & started checking around... I noticed a common thread with most of these messages...Wells Fargo is mentioned...I called them & asked about this notice & they said they DO use this in an attempt to "collect a debt"...I also reported it to my local police dept especially since "they" took a picture of my house! I was advised to be "cautious" of any other "strange things...calls, more notices, etc...but not "paranoid" & report anything strange to the local police. Hopefully these losers will get a REAL job!

I got the same orange note taped to my frontdoor w/708 & the dead air sound on the other end of the line...my neighbor said she saw 2 men drive up & the one that got out took a picture of my house. I am researhing it & found a common link...Wells Fargo...I called them & a girl said the ARE doing this...I asked about the bogus phone number & note that does not have any WF's information & all she would tell me is it is an attempt to "collect a debt". I asked for a supervisor & she put me on hold for a very long time...didn't speak to anyone...I am still working on it!!

Came home today and found note Urgent landlords name then 800-206-7984 thought it was from the landlord, called # dead air...am contacting Local TV, talk radio, police, TBI & FBI. One step further taking down lic. # of everyone that comes on our street. Will get to the bottom of this messed with the wrong person.

Called Wells Fargo again after reading all of the post.  Mrs Roberts who is a supervisor informed me that they do have people that come out to check the property if you are behind or if you are trying to work out a repayment plan.  This is to insure that the property is still occupied and the premise is being kept up. Since the number is a dead air call, 1-800-206-7984. I explained to Mrs. Roberts that I was going to report the dead air call to the FCC since the notes are a third party to Wells Fargo. Maybe they will put a real number on there and alot of us will not panic.

November 23, 2009~Just had one posted on my door in Gettysburg PA. I contacted Wells Fargo and they said they would not have anyone put anything on a door. Plus all of the mail from Wells Fargo has their own mailing symbols for Wells Fargo.

I live near to "Bill" in Missouri City,TX and had an orange version of this note stuck to my front door today too 11/23/09....I knew it wasn't from my bank, but wanted to research the number a little...I'm wondering why they chose our homes? Are they getting names from a mailing list and what's the point of having us call a dead number? I wonder if anyone had had anything come of any of this? I see some of these posts are over 6 months old..
intriguing....it just seems a pointless exercise right now...unless this is the new Mormon approach!

Got this today, 11/23/09 in Sugar Land Texas.  Will call police today and let them know theya are working the area.  Small silver truck, person had frizzy hair.

We received this note tonight (Sunday) here in South Texas / Brownsville. No answer. We don't use Wells Fargo Mortgage but there is another house in the neighborhood with a REAL close address and people, even police, get them confused all the time.

Has anyone seen anything happen after calling the number?

They got me too, with a note taped to my door saying "URGENT! Please contact us IMMEDIATELY at 800-206-7984".  My landlord has his mortgage with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and he just told me that it was getting foreclosed on.

A Wells Fargo employee just admitted to me that this number comes from an investigator doing a pre-foreclosure inspection on the propery.  They lied to me before and said it was not from them.  This is b***s***.

Only dead air at the #-   We woud all be calling the same # so I'm not worried anyone is trying to "scam" per se-  but it is puzzling. My mortgage is through Wells Fargo-  this seems to be the common denominator here.
