411.com shows over a dozen businesses at that address but Harris & Associates isn't listed so it's a scam. Any legit business that conducts business with individuals over the phone will *want* to make sure they can be found on telephone directories.

SONYA, yes you have been scammed. they prey on folks who get scared and then they collect the money from your banking account or your credit card. they will keep taking money as long as they have your personal information. DO NOT PAY THEM ANY MORE MONEY!!

This is a version of the you-have-committed-a-crime extortion scam and you are being...
1. charged with fraud or passing bad checks or embezzlement or
2. served with a court summons or arrest warrant or bench warrant or whatever or
3. located in preparation to being served or for a lawsuit or to be arrested or
4. sued for cable TV usage that you've been stealing for years or
5. whatever stupid crap reasons they will think up next.
And you have to...
1. call back with your case number or
2. confirm your address or SSN or whatever so you can be served or your papers can be processed or
3. pay $895 now to avoid paying $5,000 in court or
4. whatever stupid crap reasons they will think up next.
Beware extortion scams come in many flavors and they constantly evolve to stay one step ahead of the law.
The FBI warns about payday loan extortion scams here http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710
The BBB has issued several alerts on this scam, just google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"
Never do what they tell you to do but report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

I received a call from a Dale Davis from this number. He said he was calling because I was going to be served papers at my work or home also from a company that issued me a payday loan via internet. He stated that he could reduce my amount. Okay, so I was transferred to a Tracy Smith. I spoke with her and set up payment arrangements to pay this debt back. I gave them a pre-paid visa that you load money onto. The first 2 transactions went through. I was to make a payment last week, but did not. I have been calling this number back to give courtesy that the funds was not there. I have not received any phone calls from Tracy Smith nor Dale Davis. She told me that I would received emails from her with confirmation of payment. I have not. Have I been a victim of a scam? There are plenty of people that I know says that it will go onto your credit report. Is that true? How can they file a civil lawsuit against you when they are illegal also? I have gone to google to search for this so-called Harris and Associates and found nothing.

They have been calling me for the past few months. Same story each and every time; that they have a civil complaint against me and that a Process Server is on their way to either my work or home to serve me court papers. The lady that keeps calling is Tracy Smith. Company she claims to be representing is Harris and Associates. When I asked them to send me a DV letter, they would only send it via e-mail. That allowed me to obtain the address on the word document they attached. I have since sent them a letter via certified, return receipt requesting that they validate the debt via regular mail. Funny thing is that when I looked up their address (via google earth), it gave two other types of companies (one was a living facility of some sort and the other a talent agency). Nothing showed Harris and Associates. Anyways, I have submitted complaints to the Attorney General's Office and the BBB.

This company Harris and Associate based out of Charlotte NC, said I owe a payday loan which I tried to get the address to send in my payment but the guy named Deshun said they can only take a credit card payment . Deshun then stated a processor is on his way to my house and job to serve me a court order. I feel this is a scam because I do not recall getting a payday loan from Manhattan payday loan.
