Since I don't owe anyone anything, I have no idea why they are calling me.   Another number to block.

Apparently they are not highly thought of, though:

Actually, this is incorrect.  Wyndham Professionals is a debt collection company the BUYS debt from the original lender for pennies on the dollar.  Before engaging in ANY type of arrangement with them (or any other 3rd part collection company), you should do the following:

#1.  request that they validate the debt by sending you documentation regarding the original debt, lender, etc.  they are required by law to validate the debt, should you request.

#2.  call the original lender (this information will be on the validation documents they send you) and attempt to negotiate the debt with them.  in some circumstances, the lender can recall the debt from the collection agency and you can then make arrangements with the lender that will look much better on your credit report.

#3.  be reasonable, whether it be with the lender or the collection company.  both of them are going to try and get the most they can from you.  If you are reasonable, then you may be able to settle the debt for much less.  make any settlement agreement contingent upon them reporting the debt as PAID IN FULL on your credit report (even if you are not paying the full debt).

#4.  do not let them insult you or harass you.  advise them that they are not permitted to call you at all hours, nor are they permitted to call you at your place of employment.  (they can only call your employer to verify your employment).  if they have a history of being harassing or insulting, advise them at the beginning of the call that it is being recorded.  even if you are not recording it, it will change how they talk to you.  do not stoop to their level.  if they do become insulting or harassing, calmly inform them that you will not tolerate that behavior and that you will terminate the call.

All debt collection companies have the same business model.  They buy debt for pennies on the dollar. Meaning, if your original debt was $5,000, they might pay $250 for it.  Then, they try to get as much of that $5000 from you as they can.  The collector that is assigned to your case gets a commission based on how much of the debt they collect on OVER what they paid for it.  So, he/she is going to try and get as much as they can from you as fast as they can.  Just remember to slow down, think things through.  DO NOT fall for the "if you don't pay now I will have someone there tomorrow with court documents".  If that was going to happen, you would already know about it.  Be calm, document what they tell you and then research it to see if it adds up.

You can sue them for more than you owe if they harass you like screaming at you. I've currently got a suit in process because they call me many times a day and usually 2 times after 10pm.  They are violating fair debt practices and I am nobodies bi***. I will make them pay.

YOU WERE.... IN THE PAST..... WERE A DEBT COLLECTOR. YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES LEAD TO YOU BEING WITHOUT A JOB, AND NOW IN COLLECTIONS YOURSELF. THE IRONIC THING HERE, IS THAT MAYBE OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES, FOUND THEM SELVES JOBLESS AND COULDN'T PAY THEIR BILLS. YOU SIGNED UP FOR YOUR DEBT IN THE FIRST PLACE, DID YOU NOT? TRY BEING AN ADULT AND THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE POSTING.

They called me asking about some guy named Gary Grey. I told them that I had no idea who this guy "Gary Grey" was, and they said "Are you sure you don't know who Gary Grey is? Have you ever heard of someone named Gary Grey?" And I kept on telling them that I had no idea who this guy is, but they kept on asking about him like 10 times. ...The whole thing was too weird... Don't call them and If they won't stop calling you, block their number.

File complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.  If you go to the BBB website there are over 100 complaints about this company and their harassment.

Quote some of the rules to them too (this comes directly from the FTC website):

What practices are off limits for debt collectors?
Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:

*use threats of violence or harm;
*publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
*use obscene or profane language; or
*repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.

False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

*falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
*falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
*falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
*misrepresent the amount you owe;
*indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren?t; or
*indicate that papers they send to you aren?t legal forms if they are.

Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:

*you will be arrested if you don?t pay your debt;
*they?ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the *action and intend to do so; or
*legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don?t intend to take the action.

Debt collectors may not:

*give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit reporting company;
*send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency if it isn?t; or
use a false company name.

Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

*try to collect any interest, fee, or other charge on top of the amount you owe unless the contract that created your debt ? or your state law ? allows the charge;
*deposit a post-dated check early;
*take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally; or
*contact you by postcard.

One of the big problems with collection agencies like this one - other than the lying, cheating, and harassment - is that they will "purchase" debts from valid collection agencies for pennies on the dollar then use their bullying tactics to try and collect the money.

Another thing they do is take old debts that are well past their statute of limitations and post a "payment" to it.  This makes the debt look like it's still active and essentially resets the clock.

Do not give them any personal information (SSN, bank accounts, credit cards).  The people they have working for them are criminals - some of them literally!

If you do owe money to a school, go to directly to the school and see if you can get it resolved through them. If not, find a valid and credible credit counselor to help.

Lastly, file complaints with the Better Business Bureau and/or the Federal Trade Commission.

My brothers and I have been getting calls from some woman looking for one of us, claiming to be our cousin. She actually hunted down a sister in law of mine and left a similar message saying she was our cousin and was trying to get in touch with us. I listened to the message, the woman is clearly educated and absolutely has a thick Mass. accent. We are from Mass, and I can spot the accent in a second. I knew something was fishy because any cousin of mine with that accent most certainly would not sound educated (sad to say). My only direct call from this person came this morning looking for me and knew both my married and maiden names, the caller ID (this is the first and only time after several calls to various family members that a phone number popped up) showed Windham P 800-208-5076. She asked for me by name, I asked what it was in reference to, she stated she was a cousin of mine and had crossed referenced this phone number. My number is not listed ANYWHERE, I had this done purposely so I can't be found. She was clearly calling from an office, I could here other operators, phones, typing etc. I stated she had the wrong number. I looked the phone number up and got this site. Neither I nor my husband has any outstanding debts, certainly no school loans, all are paid in full for many years. BEWARE!!!

Seems a lot of people are bothered by Windham Pro over debt that isn't even theirs. Well, be ignorant no more, go to this link, and be on your way to a quick $1,000. http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/creditorharassment.shtml

Most Collection Agencies don't show up to small claims court. Even if they do, if they broke the law attempting to collect a debt, and you're the victim, there is a very good chance you'll win. If they press you, sue them for harassment. It's very easy and affordable.

Eagerly awaiting another call from these F**ks! I sure hope they like to harass as much as people say. I don't take kindly to people calling me and saying money is owed by somebody I don't even know. It's not my fault the guy put my number down. He probably didn't intend on paying. The way I see it, he did me a favor though. Harass me more, please. I'd love a quick $1,000. Pleeeeeeease

This company keeps leaving messages on my machine for a Matthew Hartley.  I call there # 866 432-0227 to talk to a Shannon Coppas, and all I get is a message machine.  After a long time of listening to their damn message center, I tell them their problem, and they continue to leave messages.  How do I get rid of these annoying jerks?

Why do they call from this number, yet the number to call them is 1-800-969-0059? And even weirder, the number that contacted ME was actually 714-486-0241? I did a reverse phone-number look up, and found that it was VOIP. Wtf? I know Winham Pro. is a debt collection company, but what up with all the phone numbers?

I got a call from this company myself and I spoke with a lady named Jaime snow she asked me for my Ssn as well and I told her I do not provide this info to anyone so I hung up thinking it was a scam she then continuously kept calling back every day from different numbers, I got so fed up I decided to talk to them and see if they are a legit company or scam and turned out after several minuts of talking and giving out my info that she requested such as place of employment and ssn i told her i was not interested in their service and that i was gonna find other ways of paying my student loans back. a few days later she started calling me numerous times in a day and after a month of ignoring the company one day my boss told me he got a call from the company widham profesionals stating that my account is in wage garnishment so they were calling to confirm my place of employment and my boss of course told them not to contact me at work so after work i called them back and the lady was very rude and gave me an attitude and i told her why are you calling my place of employment after i said i wasnt interested in their services and she told me that either way they were gona take from my taxes or through my checks so me being felt scared that they would take from my checks i set up some payment plan with them but I found it kinda funny how I couldn't pay what I could afford because to my knowledge you can pay your student loans based on what you could afford but instead she told me I had to pay 100 dollars then I told her I can't cause I only work part time and barely make that much so she then talked to her supervisor and approved me to pay at least 60 being the least for 9 consecutive months and then during the first 6 months of payments promised my student loans will be out of default and that I will be able to go back to school. I'm confused and don't know what to do or think if this company is a scam or legit. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I recieved a phone call from this number today and they immediately started yelling my name, "Nathan!! Nathan!!" I said yes, and they said "did you not recieved the check we sent you?". I looked and saw it was a 1-800 number and so I hung up the phone thinking it was some sort of a scam. I do not allow my friends of family to yell at me on the phone, I definately am not going to allow some stranger to scream at me.

She got ugly and asked how that could be my name and not the correct ssn. Hmmmm, I know more than 1 person with my same first AND last name.  She was ugly and I eventually had to hang up.

they call me on a regular basis, and I work as a garnishment specialist, unless it's a ton of debt you have nothing to worry about, after awhile though if it's a big enough debt they'll submit it to the court and you could end up with a 15% disposable income garnishment. So probably best to work with them, but not dealing with it right away isn't a big deal if you don't care about your credit score. It's a rather long process to get a wage withholding order from a collections agency... and the garnishment specialist has to send you a warning that it's about to go down, thats when you know it's time to go ahead and stop avoiding the calls.

Received a call today from 1/800-208-5076. They left a message stating that they were calling about an Education Matter with Johnston Countly Commumity College. They even provided me with an account number, call back name (Shawn) EX 2835. They definately have the wrong phone number. No one here has any past or presents dealing with the above college. I called them to remove my phone number but only got a voice message. FYI - I read above that other individuals have been contacted by this collection company and when they talked to this person/company, they request personal information, such as SS #. NEVER..NEVER provide this information. If you had any loans or outstanding debt with their company...the first thing they would ALREADY have your social security on file. Don't get trapped.

Called me, my parents, and my father-in-law. Say I have a student loan to a school I never attended. I have never had a student loan. Got mad when I wouldn't give my ssn. Yelled at me for 20 minutes. I put my phone on the corner of my desk and kept working. This type of harassment needs to be stopped. Made a threat that they would continue to call and harass me and my entire family. I called my parents and fil and told them to just hang up on them.
