These people keep calling me, too!! I am working with a debt consolidation company and they have a copy of my power of attorney.  According to the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act, they should stop calling me and should be calling the debt consolidation company regarding my account.  She continues to threaten that they will "take further legal action if necessary".

Got a similar call today, sounded like Nicholas Stibono at x3836 asking me to call so he could relay a message to my neighbor. Sounded fishy and googled his #.  Also came up on caller ID as out of area 954. I didn't call back and have alerted my neighbor. What I want to know is why aren't they calling my neighbor? Is this even legal??

Recieved call from a "Nicholas" at ext. 3836. Last name sounded like Iguano and he seemed frustrated when I asked him to repeat and finnally spell it out for me. He claims that "Their client in this case was doing a background check" and I was " listed as the nearest family member to contact."BS(I haven't seen or spoken to this person in years) Any agency that runs a background check does not need me to give a message to the person they are checking. They also would not try to contact said person, crock of shizzle. They have already contacted other members of my family and had no luck.Any company that hides behind a fake caller ID 954 is obviously not credible. HOW IRONIC!!??!!

On Friday, received a voicemail from Nicolas Sacrimoni with all the garbage about a case number and that this was NOT a sales call...urgent to call him.  Got another voicemail today, Monday, from Christian Troy at the SAME extension as Nicolas incidentally.  Anyway, he implied that he was shocked that I hadn't already called.  Said that he expected my call by 9pm tonight.  Then, after lunch on Monday, my father called me (lives in another state) and tells me that he rec'd a call from Christian Troy stating that he needed me to contact him, and provided no details other than his phone number.  Obviously, they DID know my phone...or else they wouldn't have left me TWO voicemails.  So...law broken!  I will do what I have to in order to make them cease this practice.

This man has dared to call my next door neighbor and my husband's ex wife(they divorced 31 years ago), who has a different last name. He has my number, and has left 2 messages here. I do not answer Unknown number or 800 # calls, but he has our number, so there is no need to call these others. This is harassment and I do not appreciate it.

Someone by the name of Nicholas Sacrimoni phoned my home and my wife took the call. She emailed me at work with the following email:

"Someone called for you, trying to reach your Mom. Said his name was Nicholas Sacrimoni, and he'd been trying to reach your Mother at home, but her phone was just ringing and no one was picking it up. I asked him what this was regarding, and he said that your Mom would know.
He asked that you call him back at 1-800-210-0358 extension 3836."

I phoned an a man answered. I gave my name and requested to know what this was regarding. He stated the laws in the state of Maryland would not allow him to discuss anything with me without the consent of my Mother (I'm 37 and retired Army Sergeant). When I asked what company he represented, he got angry and told me that he had little patience for me probing for information. I then got angry and reminded him that HE CALLED ME! At that time, he put me on speaker phone and I heard others in the background. I then hung up.

This guy started calling me on a Monday, did not leave message until then.   When I finally called back, he stated he was legal for Citibusiness.   I told him I was unable to pay the amount they wanted at this point, having a hard time keeping electric, he called several of my neighbors and gave them a case number to give to me.   Isn't this illegal?   Very humiliating!!

I was called by the above number by Frances and was asked to go and tell my neighbor to call her back.  She asked me if I knew my neighbor.  I told her I knew of him but we did not talk very often.  I was going to leave a note on his gate until I looked this number up.  I will not be getting involved with this.  Calling me was very unprofessional.  My neighbors finances are none of my business!

his name was "Nicholas" at extension 3836.  I can only imagine that this guy called from a collection agency because he was a total jerk (unprofessional and inappropriate), however he did not actually say that he was calling from a collection agency. he called to "leave a meassage" for my daughter in law (he used her name) because he "cannot reach her on her cell phone". he sounded very hostile from the start and asked if he could "possibly leave his number for her or was that just too much to ask of me" although he declined to identify himself as a friend of hers...he said that if I didn't "help" him, he would "just call someone else" and when I suggested he do that he started to tell me how he just told me that he had tried that. total bs. he was clearly trying to harass her via getting her extended family involved. outrageous.

It's collections for Citi. It is UBC. I'm not going to get into the validity of the debt. However, I will comment on their practices.

This is one company that you want to document EVERY, and I do mean **EVERY** communication you have with them. This includes phone calls, dates, times, names, voice mails, letters, everything.

This is a scumbag collection firm that employs the nasty tactics. In ONE phone call they violated 3 areas of the FDCPA.

This account just went into collections.

- The first call they talked about a law suit.
- The first call they swore
- The first phone call they were asked to send a letter outlining the debt. (They called back 2 minutes later)

The following day they called a neighbor and left "an important message that needed to be returned".. also not allowed as contact was established already.

We'll now wait to see if they send that all important letter 48 hours after the first phone call - I'm betting they won't.

I hate to say this, the debt IS valid, and people are slipping behind. However, it does not allow or constitute a right for them to violate federal AND California state law in the process.

I will say how this will turn out - It will be in court because good FDCPA attorneys are everywhere now. They will end up losing. I guess they do not count on the same video and audio age that politicians have been burned by. I guess they're okay with losing a court battle and paying off a debt. Fine by me!

Any other collectors want to pull this kind of crap? Go for it!

I got a message about a neighbor(!) and they wanted me to call them back at this number, very slurred when the caller said the company name. I googled before I called and found that they are a collection agency.

I called back at the number given 1-800-210-0358 and got a person on the line. I told her about the call and 'how dare they call a neighbor, likely violates washington law' etc. I was hung up on lol.

Recieved call for my husband stating that they were trying to get in touch with his sister. Stated that my husband was listed as her contact relative. Stated that her name was Kelly from UCB Serve (well that's what it sounded like on the machine) and she needed to contact my sister-in-law before 7:00 p.m. that day, Kelly then left a number to call back at 1-800- and I swear she said "6210" -0358 exten. 63848. I felt this was a hokey phone call, not only because of the sketchy scenerio but caller id also only listed 952 (my area #)as the caller. Why would anyone be calling from my area MN to contact a relative who lives in PA? Like I said HOKEY. I just thought I would let anyone know that this is another one of thier tacktics to get what they want, or who.

Caller ID of this call was 954. Called for the third time by "John" for Christina.  Requested the company name that was calling, and had to ask 4 times, as he would slur the name while saying it.  Finally worked out that it was "United Combined Bureau".  I informed him that my number was not owned by a Christina and I was requesting again to be added to the DNC list or have it removed from the account.  I was hung up on about 2 seconds after saying anything about DNC, and well before asking them to remove it off her account since I have no idea who the person is.

I tracked down the company via google (because the caller ID was faked to 954) so i could contact them and request to be removed from their list, the first person said no supervisor or manager was available but attempted to 'assist me' but without an account number they have no way to figure out who I was.  So now I need the persons account number whom I do not know, so that they can add me to the DNC list.  He couldn't figure out how to track that down, when I asked for someone who could help I was transferred to "Kevin" who also had no access to Internal DNC lists, or any way to find the call.  He tried to ask several people about who might have called me, and seemed very puzzled when I stated it was a "John" at his company, as if they didn't have anyone by that name at all.

Solutions
What you need to do if you are getting repeated calls from them is record the date and time of each call and request to be added to the DNC list each team.  Each company has to maintain an INTERNAL DNC list, I believe even those in collections can request to be added to this list, and only contacted via mail.

If you do not have a business relationship with this company (are not yourself actually in collections in ernest with this company), then you can after multiple calls (where you have accurate date and time information, as legally they are required to store the call details of every call (time, length, number dialed, who it connected to, as well as the call drop percentage which is required to be less then 3% of all calls).  If you have all the details (name of caller, caller ID, company name, date and time and length of call) contact the ftc at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ to report the company.  PLEASE only report actual calls along with date and times, if you have prior calls before ones you get date and times you can let them know about how many you think there were, but PLEASE start out with at least 2 calls with enough details to get the FTC to actually look into it, the less accurate the details, the less likely they will be fined.

The FCC is also involved in regulation:

The FCC can issue warning citations and impose fines against companies violating or suspected of violating the do-not-call rules, but does not award individual damages. If you receive a telephone solicitation that you think violates any of these rules, you can file a complaint with the FCC. There is no charge for filing a complaint. You can file your complaint using an on-line complaint form found at esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm. You can also file your complaint with the FCC?s Consumer Center by e-mailing fccinfo@fcc.gov; calling 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322) voice or 1-888-TELL-FCC (1-888-835-5322) TTY; faxing 1-866-418-0232; or writing to:

They called my parents whom I haven't lived with in over 20 yrs saying I had to contact them about an "urgent legal matter."  So ridiculous since I still live at the same address that Citibank has been sending statements for the past 10+ years although I no longer have a landline.  Just a ploy to harass me by phone instead of contacting me through the mail.

I used a prepaid cell to see what it was all about and have been getting calls from them ever since, 2-3x a day, even though I did not tell them my phone #.  Be warned they'll note the number you call them from. Needless to say, I'll be getting another phone #.

Nicholas Macrimony or Sacrimony did the same thing to me.  I got him to admit that he searched the web to find numbers.  He tried to reach my sister who has no phone.  He got my number and my parents number.  He tried some kind of "tuff guy" act as if he had little time to work.  He said his client had wanted a response from my sister by 9:00 tonight.  I asked him why he didn't mail something to her.  He changed his story and said he didn't want to take 2 weeks to get a response (hmmm).  I told him that if he had 2 weeks, then why didn't he drop a letter in UPS next day air - she'd have it fast.  His response, "I'm not here to debate the efficiency of the US Postal service."  I told  him UPS - not USPS!!!  His tactic is to make himself sound tuff and get you to buckle.  Don't know who he is and don't care who he is.
