You should take them to small claims court. You need a lawyer. You could sue for monetary and punitive damages for malicious intent.

These people are complete scam!!! Never give your card # out to people you don"t know. Most lenders do not allow a home loan to be "assumed". You will always have some sort of credit check... If it's too good to be true then it probably is

I also got the number off of Craigslist.com .  It's a scam, I should have known.  We went through and gave them our credit card number, and they took 199.00 out right away, and again, and again and again.  Our bank couldn't track them down to get our money back from them (luckly we have protection).  We have since closed our account and haven't seen a house we paid for.

Also saw number on craigslist--looks pretty scammy to me. And they're posting in the wrong craigslist category... though I'm not sure that cl has a category for scams, come to think of it.

I caught the number off of a craigslist ad for taking over mortgage payments on distressed houses. Google searching the number brought me here.
